DVD Rom Drive Problems

Win XP recognises that it's there and that it's working properly but it just doesn't recognise any media I put into it - media which it used to be able to read.

I've search Google under DVD-Rom Drive Problems but to no 'real' solution.

Thanks

Tis a Sony DVD-Rom drive.

Re: DVD Rom Drive Problems

try putting one of those cd head cleaner cd things in it, might just be a case of dust.
also, rule out the media being bad - make sure its not scratched, smudged or dirty etc.
CDR's, DVD'rs etc gradually degrade over time, so test it with a 'printed cd' or dvd to test.
