Strategic phenomenon(s)

Strategic phenomenon - The idea is that which ever alliance controlled a specific Strategic phenomenon, would get the bonus associated with the phenomenon.

A Strategic phenomenon would be like an alliance controlled planet that would hold defensive ships. Players of an alliance could create a mission to "Drop off" Defensive ships at the phenomenon that their alliance controlled.

It would take 1 missions slot to drop off ships or to recall ships, but after ships are dropped off or recalled, the mission slot becomes free for other uses.

An alliance can organize an attack to try to take control of a Strategic phenomenon. This would be done by each player setting up an attack missions with the coords of the phenomenon that would land the same tick.

Once the attack landed the normal battle calculations would take place and which ever alliance(attacker or defender) has the most value of ships that are not stolen/emp'd/destroyed, would take control of the phenomenon.

Some possible phenomenon bonuses would be all alliance members would get +5% to metal(crytal, enonium) mining, +5% to stealth/alert, +5% to production(or construction speed). etc..

It would be key to have many phenomenon's so that the big alliances dont have a monopoly on the phenomenon's. If this was set up correctly the phenomenon's would not be defended well by big alliance because they would most likely not be willing to take ships away from their planet/alliance defense/roiding fleets. Therefore this would give a boost to smaller alliances.

There would be alot of little things to take care of like salvage, phenomenon eta etc.. But this is just the basic idea.

Re: Strategic phenomenon(s)

I like this concept in principle. The toughest thing with it however would be to how to keep the top ally or two from monopolizing these strategic resources. For example if you look at exi's advantage right now if such strategic resources existed they would have dominated them all by now and would be pretty much impossible for other allies to take. This would further increase their already tremendous lead. So unless you can come up with a way to keep the top ally or two from monopolizing strategic resources this is probably a bad idea. One thought would be a quote from Star Wars "The tighter you strengthen your grasp the more star systems that will slip through your fingers." So come up with a way to make holding one or two strategic points as a reasonable proposition, but spreading out would make it tough to hold any of them.

Re: Strategic phenomenon(s)

This would make it all to easy.. i like to get up late at night to sent out my defence fleets... and with a "strategic phenomenon" i wouldnt need to...
A good ally is made of people who are active and willing to get up to help out there m8s, so if u dont need to get up, it would ruin the game..

Re: Strategic phenomenon(s)

i guess even for an alliance like exi it would be hard to keep enough ships at those phenomenons and keep their planet safe / being able to attack with enough force at the same time.
