really really stupid things to do at work :(
sitting in the office doing a bit of paperwork this morning, and my boss is on the phone, so, after she has left the room (at this point, it must be noted that i think that she hung up the phone) i turn to one of my colleagues and start taking the piss out of him, as we had a water leak over the weekend and his computer took the brunt of is, and is broken. So, i say the immortal line 'so your computer, it's proper ****ed then?' and then notice the look of total horror on his face.
my boss hadn't hung up the phone
it was our area manager on the other end
oh shit

i expect your area manager is quite aware of swear words.
it isnt like you said 'our area manager is a right **** isnt he?'

Re: really really stupid things to do at work :(
its the whole decorum at work thing, i work with (nearly exclusivly) middle aged women, they simply don;t swear at work, i'm usually quite careful about swearing at work. plus add in the fact that the area manager is a bitch and will bring this up the next time an argument is in the offing means i have to stay vewy vewy qwiet for a few weeks now

Re: really really stupid things to do at work :(
its a cunning plan.
on the more comedy side though, IT have said they will come out on wednesday to have a look at his computer to see if it is repairable, now, this would be a good idea apart from 2 things:
1) he actually had to pick up the base unit and pour the water out of it this morning.
2) he then tried to turn the computer on (as its a bit old and he fancied a new one!)
i am going to have to make sure that i am around to see IT take a look at it on wed, as its going to be hilarious

better squeaky than geordie, thats what my father always said.
Of course he was a violent alcoholic fantasist who believed that anyone north of London was some kind of subhuman monster, but that's by the by.

The fact that you swore is "ammunition" for one of your bosses?
Geez your work is pretty shit.
I was recently asked by a manger at work if i fancied helping them out by working in their section.
I told them "the **** i do".*
BECAUSE I'M ****ING MENTAL I AM!
*the boss in question later told me that she had been shocked that i'd said that. "Shocked and dissapointed". I got (/get) away with it cause "i'm great i am" at work and she likes me but ... didnt stop me from saying the same thing to another one of my colleagues when i was managing my team the other night (i was doing alot of crap work which wasnt mine and a guy in my section asked if i wanted to do his crap work too) but because i was the boss i got away with it that time (although AGAIN another middle aged woman was "shocked" by my language ) [/boring work anecdotes]

Re: really really stupid things to do at work :(
Just out of interest has anyone here told their boss to "**** off" (or words to those effect) in a non "i want to quit this job" type way?
