Marateth's Sword
Oh, the gods piercing delight was felt that day the beast did die.
Marateth, daughter of the glorious sky god came forth,
and conquered the monster named Zrenezen.
An evil beast of dark descent enslaved the human race.
From the depths below it crawled and breaking free,
it unleashed it's terrible fury which no man could match.

The peril on our doomed race drew forth pity from the exalted daughter.
She donned her gleaming bronze and sheathed her sword,
forged from auriferous iron by a thousand angels.
It was twice her length, cut with inscriptions and depictions of her valor.
At the tip of the blade it was etched two stallions which danced,
beneath their play wolves waited in ambush ready to tear them limb from limb.
Dolphins with wings flew through the cloudless sky,
as lithe maidens pulled water from a deep well.

Beneath this art the angels had cut the story of Marateth's birth,
a glorious day for humans of all places and worlds.
The glorious sky god had enchanted the sun,
and in secret they lay tricking night to hide their love.
The next morning our star threw forth from it's beams,
a gold haired goddess with wings like an eagle.
Her lithe body twisted in her mother's rays and her muscles shone.
With the sun's brilliance and her glorious fathers might,
she was unmatched in battle and teeth-gnashing war.

Below this the sword was fitted with images of a boat,
sailing on the diamond bright seas and weathering storm,
it's cargo secured with men aboard moving the vessel with oars.
The hilt of the sword was gilded and fitted with emeralds and gems,
heavy with luster but light and supple to swing.

It was with this sword she loosened Zrenezen's head,
it tumbled down across the land and fell off tall dark cliffs.
Beneath the waters it sank and sea nymphs friends to man,
buried it in the hard ocean floor creased by churning waves.
Down there it troubles us no more, a gift from a beautiful goddess,
the blond haired Marateth, daughter of the glorious sky god!
