Real Ale
Anyone here not a drinker of pishy lager or even worse alcopops?
Anyone enjoy the whiskery delights of a pint of fine Bitter or Ale?
Anyone a member of CAMRA?
I went to my first real Ale festival the other week and was most disappointed..... may try the London one in Auguest (I think)....

I used to drink '80 shilling' when I was a student type. I don't know why I switched to lager :\

I enjoy real ale, can't stand lager, it just makes me ill.
Adnams is a personal favourite, along with Bombadier, but anything that isn't too heavy or too fizzy is good

Only ever tried London Pride, and i think Hoppit as that was a guest ale at the club. I just hope that the guest ale is better than that when i return this weekend. And yeh i'm with you on the lager, makes me ill too.

Re: Real Ale
I drink bitter and real ale. Adnams is good, especially Broadside, was enjoying a bottle of McEwans Champion the other night, that was good. I damn well hate lager though, it's awful piss. Alcopops just ain't worth mentioning.

Re: Real Ale
There's a beer called Thor, not sure wether it's danish or german, but it's very good. I tasted Newcastle Brown Ale once.. Maybe a bit too bitter for me, but I guess that's something you gotta get used to.
Usually when partying and drinking to get drunk I only buy cheap beer like Ringnes/Hansa(norwegian). Just so it's said: Norwegian beer isn't any good

I drink gin. I also drink ales. I'm also a member of CAMRA. I also went to the Cambirdge beer festival on Jesus Green (and, indeed prior ones).
I also drank some Schlenkerla Rauchbier. It tastes of sausages.

Re: Real Ale
I am partial to both some of the locally brewed ales round here, and a nice gin and tonic.
Does this make me sophisticated?

Re: Real Ale
I drink real ale all the time.
If anyone is ever in Sheffield go to the Devonshire Cat - over 100 different bottled beers and about 15 on tap. Apparently the Fat Cat is even better. Sheffield breweries are pretty good.
My beer of choice is usually Caledonian Deuchars IPA but I drink most real bitters. Not too keen on strong beer or strong ale although Old Speckled Hen is pretty good.
Usually I stay clear of the lager unless i'm already drunk.

Re: Real Ale
I walk two miles to drink real ale, dispite the fact that there are four lager types pubs 100 yards away from me.
Also- beer festivals are great. If you live in the south, go to the flourpots one in cheriton.

Re: Real Ale
I used to drink guinness, but its not worth the exceptional price relative to ale, so its kind of a 'only on StPaddy's day' thing now.

I normally drink Guinness; the only time I really think outside the box is Christmas time when a few local pubs put on a range of seasonal ales that are a pleasing change.
