Turret's Syndrome
Is this real? Sounds like a lot of nonesense to me, has anyone ever met anyone who did this? Anyone ever been witness to it? Sometimes I think about doing something crazy during an important meeting or in a public setting, but I never actually do it. Heh.

While it can be a side effect its not really a case of not being able to stop swearing . Its more a case of condition that causes uncontrolled tics which can show themselves as rapid and sudden movements or involentary vocalisation. If you watch Man Utd Keeper tim howard closely you will see him twitch fairly often and see him muttering to himself due to the condition. He however has a mild case of it and some of the worst effected will walk around randomly shouting words some normal every day words others swearing

I think I've met people like this. Interesting, so overall it's just that people have a wrong stereotype of the disease. It's psychological or biological?

Re: Turret's Syndrome
Its a neurological disorder thats considered to be heriditary. It apparently effects males more than females.
Some of the negative stereotypes probally come from the fact it is normally accompanied by other conditions such as ADHD so looks like they are just misbehaving. Also the stereotype of it being the condition that makes you swear probally comes from the fact that it is also often accompanied with learning difficulties. Less educated people often have a smaller vocab and are more likly to use swear words anyway so when they have a tic these are more likly to come out

Re: Turret's Syndrome
yes i've seen people with this condition.
once i was at a hockey game and a guy with it sat down beside me. he had a girl with him trying to calm him down the whole time cause he kept shouting swear words.. and his arms would twitch.
there's also a guy my mom kind of knows who has it. it's mildly funny when he's trying to talk all business like and a few swears just come out. i've seen him drunk too and he relaxes a bit then so it's not as bad.. but he still does it.

Yeah it is made worse by stress. Going back to Tim Howard hes admitted since joining Man Utd its got worse as the pressure and hence stress is just so much worse
