This is a bit different to "flagshipping" per se. Grounding an entire alliance for one planet would be the absolute extreme end of that surely? The last time i read these boards we were busy hearing from the elite of pa (perhaps not you, but certainly ult players) how ronin getting extra def because he dc'd, with a few others, the entire of ct's inc, meant that ct could never hope to compete because of such elitist/corrupt/lazy/whatever policy.
Would you mind telling us roughly how much you do flagship planets (namely last round)? I remember ct hitting one gal a few times and pretty much nothing getting through. I don't know if you did in fact do this (no idea how to check the stats for this stuff), but if you ground your alliance because technically you suspect more than one gal is going to get hit, but you already know you're going to be sending 80% of your def to one galaxy, doesn't this constitute flagshipping?

The only times we did ground was when we had 3+ forts beeing targetted or suspected to be targetted the same night. People will dc for themselves, like it always has been, so if you don't you're unlikely to get def. My gal, beeing the biggest Ult gal for most of the round, had no one to dc for us one of these nights, and we got roided to bits that night, while most other ult gals/planets were fine that night.

agar3s would always use all fleets avaible for himself, even if there were other planets with incs online dcing, he woul still be the first one to get covered, we all know this

Your never awake at night time, you wouldnt have noticed!
A few rounds back agar3s sucked up all Ultores anti CR def to cover one fake wave on himself!

Re: round so far in the eye of a member of rock hc
It's predominately a first comes first serves in Ultores, it just depends who's more efficient at DC'ing.
From past experience, agar3s doesn't leech defence ships, members probably chose to prioritise him considering his rank.
If you want a proper defleech, point your finger at Knight, I recall him getting members to pre-launch ships 5 ticks prior to incoming being launched, and he even tries to get his 'contacts' from other alliances to 'claim' his waves, ie bigbob in r50.

Re: round so far in the eye of a member of rock hc
Look, i was ingal with agar3s last round so i will tell you what happened. for the first 800 ticks or so we spread the def to all the ult planets as equally as we could with myself josh and agar3s getting the most as we were awake. Once i had been crash landed on 4-5 times and my shot at a t10 finish ceased i suggested to agar3s that we escort him for the remainder of the round as he was the only one with a shot at number 1 from our gal. so we did just that sacrificing our own planets to try and get him #1. Alas it was a bit late due to the huge stockpile itoons had and the amount of incs agar3s was getting on the last three days he couldn't afford to attack and recieve incs without risking a t3 finish. Agar3s gets this devotion from his gal mates because he dc's tirelessly for them while they sleep (not that i was asleep).
In summary if you do nice things for others, they will do nice things for you. the def culture in ultores is if you got incs, you dc them yourself, if incs are light then maybe someone with dc for you. but as 80% of the round we had atleast one fort gal with incs the last thing you want to do is dc someone else when you have your own gal's butt to save.
As for Knight getting PL def 5 ticks early...i say So what? to me that's smart thinking

Re: round so far in the eye of a member of rock hc
while you may think they're similar they are not. CT has Ally DC's, Ult has Gal DC's.

Re: round so far in the eye of a member of rock hc
Ah ok so if a guy dc's his entire alliance, sending him more def is dumb; if a guy dc's only his galaxys' defence, he should not only get more defence, but should also be escourted. Thanks for shining some light on the issue.

I think what hes trying to say is that CT have people who DC's for the alliance in order to secure themselves while they get inc, while in Ult anyone who feels like it can DC for themselves or for others

Ult has players who dc in order to secure themselves, and anyone who feels like it can dc for themselves or others in CT too. I don't really understand what's relevant to me calling him a hypocrite here.

Of course they do, but we do not have people who are 'appointed' DC's like ct do(did?)

Re: round so far in the eye of a member of rock hc
Well, even with all the appointed problems Ult defense is considered good. The same is not said about CT defense. So what is being discussed here is not that relevant.

If he does that knowing the LTs it is smart, if he does that trying to cover several LT's with no info about the attackers it seems more waste of ally resources than cleverness.

the way alliances set themselves up makes it pretty easy to cover. as ally tactics are usually ALL cr/bs or ALL fi/co, and LT's dont change by more then 2-3 ticks

Right. This might get a bit more productive if you could elaborate on exactly why you think pointing out that ct has "appointed" dc's is relevant to me calling blue_esper a hypocrite.
