In a conceptual sense there is a difference between calling this certain defeat, and recognising the situation is not insurmountable (you could all die of diabetes overnight, or Ace could decide to give bf a billion res), but any meaningful distinction rests purely on you pretending that adversity is just a static quantity that can always be turned around if you just recite enough sun tzu quotes to yourself whilst the bullet flits through your eyeball.
