The UK National ID Card and more

Once again the UK Government is screwing us out of money! Let me give you the costs of someone growing up who needs ID for one reason or the other

UK 10 Year Passport - ₤40
UK Driving License - ₤30
UK National Young Persons Traincard (1 year) - ₤20
You need 6 Passport Photos @ ₤3.50 for 4 = ₤8
Postage for this lot, 2nd class = ₤4

This comes to a grand total of ₤102

And now I read that on the BBC website there wanting to bring in a National ID Card at the cost of around ₤30 (even thou the production cost per card has been estimated at ₤100+).

The question I ask is what the hell is the point in having a Passport, a Driving license, all the other pieces of plastic AND something else which can uniquley define who you are.
