Netgamers doesn't exist any more. Most people are now on Telegram, Slack, and/or Discord. This is the official PA Discord. It's not very active, but it's a place to start.

The #1 suggestion is the same as it ever was, btw: join an alliance.

More seriously are there any okay start up guides? Obviously not much to do in 200 ticks but things like the population page are new and scary to me.

Honestly, for a first approximation, I'll echo what Veil said: do the easy quests.

Off the cuff for research: get 80+ pop, HCT 300, Fi/Co (if you have Fi/Co pods, otherwise Fr/De), all the core mining (and more HCT if you need it), and then TT. If you're solo you're going to require scans as well, at least unit, but preferably JGP, and then au, and then mil. Such is life.

Structures: a few reslabs, couple of factories, and then mostly refineries, (and if you're solo, at least a few amps).

Government: tot! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
