Interest Thread: Chronicles of Humanity: Twisted Divisions

Yes, my new thread some of you have been hearing about has a title at long last. It has a plot, even has room for a sequal. All that remains, is to see if YOU would be interested in the thread.

In order NOT to give to much away, I'll make it simple. My thread will have the following:

• A Race in the middle of a brutal civil war!
• Space-Combat (Huge ships and tiny fighters)
• Ground-Combat
• Ability to create your own ships (dependent on which role you choose)
• Ability to create new technologies.
• Lots of gratuitous violence and possibly nudity.
• Intricate plot that will eventually weave all the different aspects of it together for a explosive finale.
• Surprises, lots of them.....
• And finally, a nasty DM that dosen't like it when people do stupid things........ unless it's funny

Okay, if you are still reading, then you MIGHT be slightly interested. Thus the current setup of the thread will be:

• You pick at the beginning either a military role of civilian role:
  • Military
    • You GET a automatic free ship between corvette size and cruiser size, your choice.
    • You GET access to experimental technologies relatively easily.
    • You have access to backup forces
    • You are limited to space-based missions only.
    • You will all be on the same side in the war.
  • Civilian
    • You start off with a certain amount of credits to BUY a ship and CONFIGURE it (Ala Master of Andromeda and SCA).
    • You can more easily cross between the 2 sides in the war.
    • Have a role that includes ground-based missions as well.
    • Can command multiple ships at anytime.

Well, that's all I can give you at this time without spoiling to many things. Sorry, no sneak peak at ships, but I will tell you this, technology is around the level of the Earth Force from Babylon 5.

So, why am I posting this. At this time, I have most of the plot worked out in my head, I have all the ships picked but still need to configure them, need to do the formula's for weapons and armor and whatnot, along with actually typing everything out.

Thus, I want to know, who would be interested in this thread! If enough people are interested at this point (say..... 5-8), then in about 2-4 weeks, I can have this thread up and running. Questions, comments, concerns, rantings, death threads, offers of love (sorry I'm taken though), post them here, and I'll answer to the best of my ability. That's all.

Wow, support, crap, gotta keep working.

As of now, here is where things stand:

• Weapons - All picked, size set, and damage done. Still need to do descriptions and prices.
• Armour - Picked out, prices and proction value calculated. Still need to do descriptions.
• Military Ships - 10 ships total, working on weapon load-outs at this time.
• Civilian Ships - Pratically done.

Also, there will be a slight change to the Military ships. You will have pre-made ships, but will have the ability to add additional weapons to your ships. Of course, you will need enough money to buy said weapons

There is still a lot to do, I will keep you informed as to my progress.

Work is progressing well on the thread. However I'm at the point where I'm asking for input.

What kinds of "ship items" would you like to see in the thread.

The technology of the thread is VERY close to Babylon 5 technology. Essentially no shields, no fancy sensors, etc etc. Items for BOTH civilian and military will be appreciated.

For items submitted, you will not be rewarded, but will make me happy.

ok, some idea for you

Shard Mines: When dropped somewhere and they detect a ship they explode in a shower of tiny electromagnetically charged super-sharp blades which are then attracted to the metal in ship's hull and thus cut ships up. Could be a missile if you wanted too.

Camo-Mines: Standard explosives, but using special machinery, three inches of rock is placed around the mine in an uneven pattern, making them look like small asteroids. Due to the rock around them, they are much harder to spot, but their detection range is smaller.

Shredders: These basically clean up any waste metal from a ship, since any scrap metal can be used as ammo. You feed the scrap into a hopper, and the machinery crushes it into tiny pieces, which are then fired shotgun-style at enemy craft in close proximity.

Electromag-Grabbers: These are a kind of huge magnet, that can be used a bit like a tractor beam (but just of metal, i.e. missiles, fighters and such)

Harpoon Missiles: As they sound, however the line connecting them to the ship that fired them is actually a tube, allowing troops to pull themselves down it, into the ship the harpoon is fired into. The 'missile' part can be fitted with knockout gas modules, or even small sentry guns so when it's fired into an occupied enemy compartment, the enemy can be removed without a fight.

'Vampire' shielding: Drains power from ships firing beam weapons on it. (You said post it on MSN, so I did )

PDC Plasma Detonation Cannon (THIS IS ND's WEAPON, I just thought it might fit with this thread, you'd have to ask his permission to use it): Produces a massive plasma explosion a set distance from the gun.

You need big nets. A missile, that like, flies through space with other missiles, say four, dragging along a big fat nest, fast! They surround the target ship, net closes and you've captured a ship! For fun, you could electrically charge the net. Fry stuff and shizzle.

the Disrupter Cannon cause all molecules in the target to freeze to a stop and then explode away from each other at the speed of light.... (might be too powerful)

One man per ship (unless you are leading a fleet).

As for status of thread. Possibility of sign-ups starting this week is moderatly high.
