"Sure thing Nick," says Melissa, responding to your suggestion of "firing first and explaining later". She sounds worried. You throttle forwards, and she follows suit. Just as you do so, a fiery explosion rips aprt the end of the concrete perimeter wall next to the gate, knocking both of the guards off their feet, and peppering your WAVE with fragments of rocky debris. Already on the move, your WAVEs continue on through the cloud of dust and smoke thrown up by the detonation...

You emerge on the other side. Up ahead are the massive starship hangars, and beyond that the launch pads. You can see the massive spire of the sparport's control tower rearing up into the sky. Thankfully, those buildings don't appear to have been touched yet. Unfortunatly, the ones nearer the wall have. One building in particular is completely devastated, a blazing inferno of orange flame, with a number of blue-clad corpses, unfortunate security guards, sprawled around it. Apparently, that used to be the security building. You can see two WAVEs striding off into the distance, toward a ship on the nearest launchpads. Your onboard computer analyses the massive, destroyer-sized ship automatically. Its registration number reveals it as a merchant, and after a few moments, a name appears next to the ID. Gunboat Diplomat. Your attention is directed, however, mainly on the two WAVEs near the wrecked building, both of which are now looking at you. weapons raised. Melissa acts first, raising her Kensai's heavy machine gun and opening fire. The roar of the weapon's report sounds in your ear...
Although Nick could detect a note of concern and disagreement in Melissa's voice, he knew she would do as he asked. The terrorists were clearly out of control, and the small element of surprise by openning fire immediately instead of following standard police procedure would likely by the only edge they had. As LeCarreau said, they were to warn, detain, and kill. Perhaps Nick wasn't quite doing all of them in order, but then he rarely followed orders to the letter anyway.

Unfortunately, before the pair of NYPD WAVs could advance much further than the gate, a nearby explosion ripped through the concrete barrier surrounding the spaceport, showering both WAVs with debris. Through his Kensai's sensors, Nick could see that both gate officers were down on the ground, perhaps simply knocked out from the explosion's concussion, perhaps dead. In either case, Nick had a job to do, and sadly he didn't have time to worry about two guards' fates when dozens if not hundreds of other lives were at stake.

Activating his Kensai's comms system once more, Nick fired off a quick burst transmission to Melissa.

"Come on . . . we'll enter the spaceport through that hole the terrorists just made in the wall."

Nick then throttled his Kensai forward, being careful to step over the remainning few feet of wall, and then he was inside the spaceport compound. Now up close, Nick could see the source of many of the smoke plumes: the largest one being, of course, the spaceport's former security office. From the looks of things, the car bomb had completely gutted the building, and dead security officers littered the immediate area around it like blue leaves.

Moving rapidly away from the still-burning building, and heading towards the numerous landing zones for spaceships were two WAVEs. Both appeared to be heading directly for the closest spaceship, a destroyer-class ship that Nick's computer ID'd as the Gunboat Diplomat. Nick had never heard of the ship before, although his computer did tell him that the destroyer was not a CDF or Majestic ship, but rather a converted civilian freighter.

Nick was about to throttle his Kensai forward in an attempt to cut the two terrorist WAVEs off, hopefully before they could reach the rather-defenseless freighter, when movement near the former security office caught his eye. Turning his Kensai around slightly in order to get a better view, Nick saw two more terrorist WAVEs round the corner in close unison. Evidently they too were the shoot-first and ask questions later type, as both WAVEs began raising weapons the instant the noticed that they had uninvited company.

However, Nick's plan was about to pay off, as Melissa immediately openned fire before either of the two terrorist WAVEs could react. As her heavy machine gun roared into action somewhere behind him, Nick moved into action of his own. Using his sensors to gather which of the two terrorist WAVEs Melissa was aiming at, Nick smiled grimly as he dropped his crosshairs down over the same WAVE's torso.

This was no time to play games, and Nick knew that they needed to take these guys out as quickly as possible, especially with two other terrorists already moving on the grounded spacecraft. And with any luck, seeing his buddy immediately torn apart by two ruthless NYPD WAVs might cause him to reconsider his life choices and surrender. If not, at least one threat would already have been eliminated.

At least, that was Nick's hope as he paused for a second to adjust his Kensai into proper firing position: left leg forward and right leg back, braced against the weapons' recoil.

"See you in H*ll." Nick whispered, then pressed the firing stud for the 120mm cannon mounted on his Kensai's left arm. With a soft schnick immediately followed by a loud boom that shook Nick's cockpit, the 120mm cannon shell left the barrel and sped downrange towards the terrorist WAVE both Melissa and Nick were targetting.

A moment after firing, Nick regained his composure, and immediately started to move, shifting his Kensai to the right. Although it was always best to fire the 120mm cannon from a stable firing position, to reduce wear-and-tear on the WAV if not to increase accuracy, once fired it was always better to start moving, and to keep doing so, at least until the cannon was finished reloading. As one of his WAVE Riding instructors had said at the Academy, "Speed is life". As Nick continued to sweep left, hoping to keep ahead of the terrorist WAVEs' crosshairs, he activated the external speaker on his WAVE.

"This is Officer Nick Andrews of the New York Police Department." He said, his voice suddenly booming as the external speaker magnified his voice and boomed it out across the spaceport's concrete field. "Power down your WAVEs and exit your cockpits with your hands up or we will be forced to continue firing on you. We will be forced to destroy you if you do not cease and desist immediately."

Feeling that his "warn" directive had been met satisfactorily, Nick deactivated the external speaker, and suddenly brought his Kensai to a halt. Then, as quickly as he was able he started moving again, this time sweeping back around to his left. Hopefully, his quick reverse in course would enable him to remain out of the terrorist sights for just a bit longer . . .

All
I'm working with the battle calculator thing and trying to decide whether I'm using that or just having the stats there and doing the damage and stuff "by eye". DMing today might be delayed a bit as such.

Re: The Sol War

Nah. Hit rarely for more damage is more cinematic, maybe lower base damage slightly and add a random element.

But high accuracy, low damage just means you just end up with battles of attrition, with each combatant whittling away at the others health...

*Kurt stopped his WAVE the moment he reached the park. It would be best if he remained still for this shot. Wouldn't do to miss. He lined up the shot, taking care to lead slightly ahead of his target, though not far enough ahead to overshoot and hit a building or similar. The 135mm clicked into position, and Kurt squeezed the trigger. A shell burst forth from his shoulder, blasting towards the speeding truck.*

Name: William Hewitt
Callsign: 'Draco'
Age: 20
Rank: Officer
Unit: NYPD WAVE Squadron

Experience: Rookie

Background: Another of the newest additions to New York's "best and finest", Will has the reputation as being one of the youngest officers to graduate from the academy. Although he has been noted as a crack shot and has gained a lot of attention from his superiors for his unique "Heads down, ass up" style of engaging criminal targets, he has also received much criticism for his often reckless behaviour and has been in trouble more than once due to his short temper. However, despite these detrimental traits Will tends to get on well with his fellow officers.

Little is known of Will 'Draco' Hewitt before entering the academy but it is believed that Will originates from somewhere in the bronx. Should anyone ask of either his background or motivation for joining the force they are usually shrugged off, given the silent treatment or even given a black eye in a few cases - the past for some reason tends to be a sensitive subject for William.

So in light of all this most officers of the NYPD only give him a friendly ribbing over his apparent secret crush on fellow academy graduate Amy Trenton.

[Equipment:] (included) basic scanners, basic coms (hardpoints) Improved Engines
[Additiona:] The Shogun was the first ever WAVE, first constructed six years ago. Re: The Sol War

If you're aiming for something specific, it would help your chances of a hit if you were to specify firing in semi automatic, or in bursts

Presidential Residency

Gokan
Administering a final, probably needless, warning, you quickly fire off a 135mm shell from your WAVE's main cannon - the first time you had ever fired the weapon outside of training grounds. The shell is discharged with a satisfyingly booming report, and cuts through the air with a whining noise before smashing into the ground about fives metres in front of the WAVE that's engaging you, and slightly to the right of it. You hear the sound of the explosion and see a plume of brown dirt thrown into the air as your WAVE resists the force of the shockwave, whilst you backpeddle round the corner, taking cover behind a wall. Heavy Machine Gun pullets fly past you, some hitting the corner, those that do blow considerable amounts of masonry from the gigantic house's pristine white walls. You deactivate the safety on your own Heavy Machine Gun while formulating a plan - aiming for the rocket pods. This could be tricky, as the rocket pods were only small eight-rocket ones, and lay with a low profile across the enemy WAVEs' right shoulders. Nonetheless, a direct hit would do a lot of damage. Machine gun ready, you sidestep out from behind the corner and open up, aiming for the rocket pod.

(Due to your considerable Initiative advantage, a hit on the Torso or Right Arm will lead to the rocket pod exploding)

HIT - TORSO FRONT - (BONUS HIT)

You hold down the trigger and, gun blazing, hope for the best. You watch with a sinking feeling in your gut as the first three bullets go wide, then with elation as the fourth bullet strikes the slightly-sloping armour on the enemy WAVE's front and ricochets into the rocket pod mounted on the machine's shoulder. For a moment there is nothing, then, suddenly, a brilliant explosion rips through the enemy WAVE's upper right side. Four rockets explode, completely destroying the WAVE's head and blowing away the right arm and most of the torso. Four more don't cook-off, but do ignite, spiralling wildly into the air leaving white smoke trails, before running out of steam, failing to the earth and exploding, two on the sea, one in the Residency's gardens and one on the beach behind the iron railing. You watch as what remains of the enemy WAVE drops to the floor. Abruptly, an angry face appears on your WAVE's vidlink screen. The man's jet black hair is held back by a scarlet red bandana.

"You kill my friend, pig, now I kill you!" - Short but to the point is the man's message, after which the screen winks out. Presently, the second WAVE that stood back from your initial duel bursts into action, striding forward as it fires its own Heavy Machine Gun, as well as two rockets. Instinctively, you return fire...

"Good work Crazyboy," replies Naomi, "if you're done there and you're sure it's safe, you can-" she is abruptly cut off, and you realise what your onboard computer was beeping about as a series of impacts rattle against your Gunship's hull. Your eyes reel to the screen of the computer's screen. The words "INCOMING ARMED AIRCRAFT" are flashing in bold red text in one corner of the screen. On your radar display, you watch as two red dots streak past your own position. One continues on, apparently heading across Manhattan Island toward the spaceport, while the other breaks off its course and wheels round, coming in for another pass. A glance at the wireframe display of your own Gunship reveals that your left Wing has taken a few hits...

Somewhere on Manhattan Island...

Ryon
You pilot your Dragoon WAVE down one of Manhattan's many streets, skyscrapers towering up immesurably high on each side of you, their polished reflective windows gleaming in the morning sunlight. There are very few cars on the road, but there are a lot of people, most of them dressed in business suits or similar. Something's up though; they're panicking. You can see a lot of them trying to rush into the nearest metro station, apparently seeking shelter. Naomi Fletcher, the mission controller for the day, had warned you about the terrorist attacks, but had not directed you anywhere yet...

"Courroux," Officer Fletcher's voice suddenly breaks the silence in your cockpit, coming in over the radio, "Government Plaza's under attack. I need you to get there fast, Blue Wrench (Officer John Reily, Spritely Zombie) is already there, but he's reporting the place is under attack. Hold position there and protect the Commonwealth Senate untill CDF reinforcements arrive, control out." Government Plaza, fortunatly, isn't too far away. It's situated on the southernmost tip of Manhattan Island, only a few blocks further down the current street...

Somewhere North of the city...

Bakan
Suddenly feeling very awake and alert, you throttle your Kensai up, heading cross country toward the spaceport. You watch your heads-up-display as well as your onboard computer for any signs of enemy presence. It's summer, and the land is green with grass and tree leaves, so going cross-country is really quite a scenic experience, but your mind is on other things. You crest the top of another hill, and see the spaceport, a mass of grey concrete, sprawling out beneath you. Surrounded by a high concrete perimeter wall, most of the ground within it is a massive expanse of paved ground; landing sites for starships. You can see a few of the vessels waiting on launch pads near the hangars, which are clustered near the gigantic terminal building on the far side of the spaceport. Your eyes drift downwards. There is a WAVE of a design that you have never seen before - though it looks light - on the ground near the perimeter wall. Checking your onboard computer, you find that the WAVE has no registration number; it must be one of the terrorists. He has yet to notice you.

Unity Spaceport

Inspectre
Despite concerns for the safety of the destroyer-sized Gunboat Diplomat, you decide that your first priority must be the two WAVEs in front of you, near the spaceport. Thinking fast, you immediately load up your WAV's main cannon, which you have never before used outside of the firing range out in the countryside, cand open up on the same enemy walker that Melissa did.

Officer Nick Andrews attacks Terrorist #3 with 120mm Cannon
HIT - LEFT LEG - 25 DAMAGE

To your surprise, your 120mm shell sails out and hits the enemy enemy WAVE almost directly on the point where the left leg meets the torso. With the default high-explosive shell loaded, the shell explodes on impact, the explosion completely destroying the left leg and blowing the rest of the WAVE's body into the air. It arches upwards before coming down hard on the concrete behind it - you hear the gigantic crash of the walker's fall through your cockpit canopy. If indeed the pilot is still alive, he is assuredly stunned for the moment. The stump of the WAVE's left leg is on fire.

"Great shot, Nick!" Yells Melissa over the coms, but your moment of victory is short lived. Ignoring your warning, which is somewhat defunct now that one of them is lying crippled on the ground, the other terrorist WAVE levels its Heavy Machine Gun and opens fire.

You feel one bullet smash into your right leg, but a quick glance at your onboard computer reveals only token damage. Another bullet ploughs into your Kensai's right arm, but you hear a high-pitched whine as the projectile ricochets harmlessly off your extra armour plating. Presently, Melissa returns fire with a fresh burst of Heavy Machine Gun rounds, followed through by a blast from her WAV's 120mm.

You watch with awe as Melissa manages to score four hits with her Heavy Machine Gun on full automatic - no mean feat. You see the enemy WAVE stagger backwards from the successive impact. With the final hit on its torso, it momentarily leans back, dangerously close to falling over. At the last moment, however, it rights itself. Sensing that the tides are turning, the pilot loses nerve. You see a brilliant white light burst into life from behind the WAVE as it activates its thrusters. Lifting off the ground slightly, it launches itself backwards with some speed, firing off four rockets as it does so. The rockets, clearly unaimed, spiral around erratically before ploughing into the concrete in front of you and Melissa, throwing up a thick cloud of dust, smoke and rubble. By the time it has cleared, the terrorist WAVE has almost reached its companions, which have now made their way around the back of the Gunboat Diplomat, to where the massive exhaust ports are beginning to glow with the untold energy of the fusion drives within...

"Nick! The Ship!" Cries Melissa over the radio, and after a moment you see why, watching with a sinking feeling in your gut as both WAVEs, standing some way back from the exhaust ports, adopt a braced firing position similar to your own and open up with their rockets. Each expends all eight, which streak forwards through the exhaust ports, leaving their grey smoke trails hanging in the air. It takes a few moments before anything happens - then an explosion rips through the exhaust ports, heading outwards, and you can instantly tell that the ship's engines have been gutted. Worse - they're backfiring. You watch helplessly as the manouevreing thrusters working constantly to keep the ship just off the ground are also gutted by the internal explosions ravaging the ship's inards - the freighter crashes to the ground, which shakes noticeably from the impact. Moments later, the windows start to blow out. The explosion works its way upwards; the windows on the lower decks are blown out first, then the ones on the deck above, and so on, up untill the top layer of windows, which are also blown out. The ship is now completely gutted by fire, with flames licking up from the broken windows. Just as it looks like the horrible process is finally over, the entire ship explodes. Gigantic pieces of hull plating, built to withstand pressure from without but not within, are flung impossibly high into the air. They come crashing to the ground, one of them demolishing part of the spaceport terminal building. Smaller pieces of debris rain down all over the place - and despite the smoke you can still see the charred remains of the ship's superstructure, still burning, on the launch pad...

Central Park

PK
The shell from your WAVE's impressively-powerful 135mm cannon streaks through the air from the gun's roaring muzzle, burying itself in the ground just in front of the terrorists' truck. The shell explodes, the shockwave throwing the truck into the air and onto its side. It slides through the dirt to a halt, and seconds later explodes. The forces of the blast is considerable, the bomb no doubt contributing to it, but you weather it out. You notice that a couple of the terrorists thrown free from the vehicle have survived, though they're clearly stunned and in no mood to fight. Before you even ask for back-up, you see the squad cars that had established roadblocks further back dash around and through your M1's legs, grinding to a halt just shot of the terrorists. The foot officers burst out of their vehicles, sidearms ready, and order the obliging terrorists to lay down on the ground, before restraining them. Your work here is done...

The skies of Manhattan...

Mad Cat
You are cruising above Manhattan Island at considerable altitude when Naomi Fletcher, today's mission controller, speaks over your Gunship's radio.

"Madcat, we've spotted a Gunship heading toward the spaceport, it'll pass near to you. Intercept it and destroy it. That is all, over and out." She says, keeping it short. Glancing down at your cockpit's radar screen, you can indeed see a red blip heading fast over the city toward the spaceport...

West of Unity Spaceport

Hewitt
(Exemplary character profile! Extra Brownie Points for you! )

Your Shogun stomps impressively across the green summer countryside as you head for the spaceport, following the great black towers of smoke rising up from it, visible over the horizon. You had been patrolling the highway northwest of the city, some way out even from the suburbs, when the attacks had hit, and Naomi Fletcher, today's mission controller, had immediately re-routed you to Unity Spaceport, the nearest spot of any importance. You crest a hill overlooking the hill, just in time for the biggest explosion you have ever seen. A starship, already burning with its interior gutted, suddenly explodes completely. You watch as large, jagged fragments of external hull plating are thrown, twisting and turning, into the air. One of them comes crashing down on the corner of the spaceport's massive terminal building, flattening the area of impact completely. The burning carcass of the starship remains on the launchpad - it looks like it was a destroyer-sized vessel. That means over 200 crewmen went up with it...

You, however, have got more immediate problems than mourning the unknown dead. Looking further down, you see the high concrete perimeter wall of the spaceport. There is a WAVE of a design that you have never encountered or seen before standing in front of the wall. The WAVE looks like a light model, though its armour looks even and it's carrying a considerably powerful weapon, as well as huge thrusters on its back and an eight-shot rocket pod on its right shoulder. At roughly the moment you see it, the pilot of this WAVE - which has no registration number - raises its weapon, and you can only assume that you're about to come under fire...

*Kurt nodded in appriciation of the police's rapid arrests. He didn't have time to waste congratulating them though, from the smoke rising from various parts of the city he gathered that there was still work to be done. He called control, asking for a new heading and got one, in the form of Government Plaza. He turned and throttled up to full speed, stomping towards his target. He hit the radio, wanting to find out what he was up against.*

"All NYPD WAVEs in the vincinity of Government Plaza, this is Kurt Weber, moving to assist. What's the situation?"

OOC: Looks interesting storyline. congrats on the initial story.

Any room for another one? Not usually my kinda RP, normally do the comedic stuff, but this looks good.

If you have an Pre-set ready to go i'll take a look at it. If not, gimme a day or so and i'll try and make one up.

Well, I don't have any other true pre-set ones, but if you give me a few hints as to what kind of character you'd like, I'd be perfectly willing to make you a new pre-set character.

Re: The Sol War

Hows this? I've just thrown this together in my lunch break, so if you want anything editing or changing, let me know.

Name: Jack Brimstone
Callsign: Hellfire
Age: 24
Rank: (Specialist Officer)
Unit: (NYPD WAVE Squadron)

Reputation: (starts at "0", more on this later)
Experience: (starts at "Green/Rookie")

[Additional note: "Experience" determines how many character stat points you get. As Green/Rookie pilots, you all get 24 character stat points, which you must allocate to the following skill areas: )

Aim: 6(increases your accuracy)
Initiative (Offense): 1 (increases the chance of you doing something spectacular while attacking)
Stealth: 5 (increases the chance of you successfully remaining unseen to the enemy)
Initiative (Defense): 2 (increases the chance of you doing something spectacular while defending)
Spot: 4 (increases the chance of your spotting a disguised enemy)
Dodge: 3 (increases the chance of you evading enemy shots by dodging them)
Cover: 3 (increases the chance of you evading eenemy shots by taking cover)

M20 Dragoon Light WAVE
[Contractor:] TriTech
[Class:] Fast/Recon
[Appearance:] All of TriTech's so-called "mechanized cavalry" WAVEs more-or-less share a common appearance; they are medium hieght and slender, save for the bulky souped-up thruster units attached to the back of the torso and to the back of the lower legs. The Dragoon is the lightest WAVE of the series and so stands shorter than the others, with less visible armour plating.
[Armament:] (included) none (hardpoints) one Class 2
[Equipment:] (included) basic sensors, basic coms (hardpoints) one Class 2, one Class 3
[Additional:] The Dragoon class was TriTech, at the time a minor resourcing company from Earth that had just won the rights to develope the fledgling Triton (the largest moon of Neptune) Colony. As such it's got a few technical faults - including bursting into flame if the fuel lines running through armour plating on the back of the torso are hit - whcih have earned it a bad reputation among the CDF and, later on, Commonwealth Police Force personnel that use it. The Dragoon continues to be used for its economical design, sheer speed and generous equipment hardpoint allocation - all of these combining to make it an ideal recon vehicle. Due to its unfortunate habit of exploding, the M20 is frequently referred to as the "Pig-Cooker".
[Armour:]

Armour(Head): 10
Armour (Torso Front): 20
Armour (LA): 10
Armour (RA): 10
Armour (LL): 10
Armour (RL): 10
Armour (Torso Rear):10

Armament: Class 2 Rifle - - fires a large slug, accurate at long range. The Rifle is highly damaging when it hits, but requires a fairly skilled shooter to use properly, due to its low rate of fire. Semi automatic with a ten round clip. The Rifle is mainly used against enemy WAVEs, and performs well against light and medium models.

Equipment -
Class 2 - Improved Onboard Computer - improves your WAVE's onboard computer, enabling you to better access data on the status of your systens, etcetera, and to better process sensor signals.
Class 3 - Improved Thrusters - thrusters are improved, allowing your WAVE to dodge and manouevre more effectively. Also allows the WAVE to "jump" obstructions of one storie or shorter height.

History: An Englishman by birth, yet he speaks with little or no trace of any accent, despite living in america for over a decade. Jack's parents had served together during the world war, and it was a small miracle that both survived, having lived through most of it at a small outpost in South America. Upon the forming of the Commonwealth, They returned to England, where Jack was born and raised until the age of 8, when they decided to move to New York.

Jack was a bright kid, often scoring high on tests in the early years, a quiet boy who was neither part of the crowd or a loner, a trait he kept till finishing college with honours. Jack was ensnared by the idea of joining the police force during his last year of college (Jack had been tempted by the CDF, but his parents, having spent much of their life in the armed forces, had forbidden him from joining, which only made his lust for it worse.)

Seeing a chance for purseing an active career in the NYPD, the CDF out of his reach, he joined the academy, where he again passed with honours. During his time in the academy, Jack found he had an aptitude for recon, with quick reactions and reflexes, a good eye for detail, and an ability to move around silently. He also he had an aptitude for WAVE piloting, his reflexes and skills making him rather adept at manaeuvering.
Jack is fairly green in terms of policing the streets, having spent an extra year training on the WAVE's in the art of being as stealty as possible when piloting a large walking piece of armour, but due to this his skills in WAVE's is excellent.
His personality allows him to be an effective leader, but equally adept at taking orders. A Docile man, until overly provoked, and cool under pressure. Though he gets on well enough with his collegues and socialises with them on occasions, he spends much of his time alone. He gets on well with his ground crew, insisting on keeping his WAVE well maintained, and everything running as quietly as possible, which most engineers will do passionately at worst. He rarely has cause to be angry with them.

cursing slightly at being surprised, Tom leveled his gun with the terrorist's mech facing him 's "head", and squeezed the trigger, blasting one shot at a time, he realised that the distance and the fact that he was spotted worked against him, so He forced his mech to jump forward, almost pushing the barrel of the gun to the enemymech's head before squeezing the trigger again. making sure the comsystem was on, and the WAVE's computer was recording details of the enemy mech, he started sending out details to HQ as they came along

Sensing that the tides are turning, the pilot loses nerve. You see a brilliant white light burst into life from behind the WAVE as it activates its thrusters. Upon seeing his shell not only hit, but actually blow the left leg off of his target, Nick let out an astonished war whoop. With one combatant clearly out of the fight, Nick could turn his full attention over to the last of the two terrorists . . . and he was just in time to see the terrorist WAV raise its heavy machine gun and open fire at him.

"Sh*t." Nick grunted as he attempted to get his Kensai to backpedal away from the stream of metal heading his way. Although it seemed as if his efforts were at least marginally successful, several of the bullets from the terrorist's HMG still hit, peeling some armor plating off of his WAV's right leg. A quick check of his WAV's computer schematic revealed that nothing was seriously damaged however, and that the bullets had penetrated little further than the outer armor plating. Still, another hit or two on that leg could prove serious, as its armor plating was now comprimised somewhat.

Nick was preparing to return fire on the terrorist WAV with his own 20mm chaingun when Melissa stepped up and let rip with her own HMG. From the high-pitched whine coming from her weapon, and the steady stream of casing pouring out of it, Melissa had fired on full-auto. Although Nick didn't think she had much chance of hitting much with such an uncontrolled burst of fire, Melissa surprised him, and most likely the terrorist too, as her HMG tore armor off of the terrorist WAVE's head, torso, and both legs. Staggering under the constant impact of high-velocity slugs, the terrorist WAVE almost fell, but was able to steady itself just in time.

Acting quickly, the terrorist WAVE Rider escaped the two-on-one situation he was in by activating his thrusters and jetting away, covering his escape meanwhile with a series of hastily aimed rockets, all of which plowed into the ground harmlessly in front of Nick and Melissa. The attack, however, was good enough to buy the terrorist time to escape through the use of his thrusters, and by the time the smoke from the exploding rockets had cleared, Nick could see that the terrorist WAVE was a good distance away, and very close to joinning up with his two friends close to the grounded merchant spaceship.

His attention called back to the other two terrorist WAVEs, Nick wondered why they were standing so far back from the grounded freighter, and why they weren't firing yet. As Melissa cried a warning to him, Nick suddenly felt the floor drop out from under him as he got an inkling of what they were trying to do.

As the large spaceship began to slowly lift off of the ground in an attempt to get away, both terrorist WAVEs fired their entire compliment of rockets into the exhaust ports at the rear of the freighter. Still warming up in an attempt to push the freighter up into the sky, the large exhaust ports emit a blue glow, which is replaced by an orange fireball a few moments later as the rockets all detonate inside the exhaust ports. As the explosion begins to dissipate, the wildly shifting colors emerging from the now torn apart rear of the vessel clearly show that not only were the main reactors for the ship hit, but they were going critical. A few seconds after that, the entire merchant vessel is consumed as explosions march up through it, from the lowest to the top deck. The utterly ruinned craft then crashed back down onto its berth, before exploding one last time, an impressive finale that ended with large pieces of ship bulkhead arching through the sky to crash down onto various nearby buildings, including the spaceport's main terminal itself.

Utterly impressed by the sudden devestation and equally appalled, Nick closed his eyes for a moment as he visualed the casulties that explosion just caused. Feeling a cold, methodical sense of calm descend over him, Nick realized that he no longer cared why the terrorists were doing this, or what they hoped to accomplish. Indeed, Nick no longer even particularly cared about keeping these murdering b*stards alive, both for questionning and humanitarian reasons.

Openning his eyes again, Nick began to move his Kensai towards the trio of WAVEs, no doubt already deciding which innocents to slaughter next. Flicking open a comm channel to Melissa, Nick simply said, "Alright Melissa, I think these three have had just about enough fun. It's time to put a stop to this, and I don't know about you, but I'm not going to try avoid hitting their cockpits. In fact, I'm goign to be aiming for them." Nick then calmly closed the channel, and urged his WAV to it's maximum speed.

Intending on getting close, where his 20mm chaingun could at least do some damage, Nick withheld his fire as the range continued to close with the trio of terrorist WAVs. As he approached, Nick attempted to zig-zag a bit in an attempt to throw off the terrorist Riders' aim, but he didn't stop moving forward.

(Assuming the 120mm cannon reloads quickly - as in, its ready every post , read this next bit if that is the case. If the 120mm cannon does not reload quickly, then ignore this part.)

Hoping to continue throwing off the terrorist's aim by causing them to seek cover, Nick readied and fired his 120mm cannon while still on the move. Although the shot was undoubtedly inaccurate as h*ll, the terrorists might just duck for cover instead of firing back, especially considering what his first shot had done. The recoil from the heavy anti-tank cannon jerked Nick's Kensai back and to the left harshly, and since he wasn't braced from the impact he nearly stumbled and fell. Fortunately, Nick was able to control his Kensai's movements well enough to get the massive mech under control before that happened, and he continued his approach on the terrorist WAVEs.

(Continue reading from this point on if you ignored the last paragraph. )

Now finally close in, Nick could see the cockpit canopies of the various WAVEs, especially the one of his target, one of the two WAVEs that had fired on the space merchant. Nick had decided to close with this particular terrorist WAVE for two reasons: one, the pilot didn't have any rockets left, having fired his full compliment off. Therefore, he couldn't give Nick a faceful of rocket as he close to near melee range. Two, this was one of the two pilots that had just calously killed a lot of people. And for what? Some cause that didn't even make sense to 99% of the world?

Sneering in disgust, Nick dropped his reticle directly over the WAVE's cockpit, and then openned fire with his 20mm chaingun. As such close range, Nick figured he didn't have to worry too much about recoil, especially since it would only take a shot or two to break open the canopy window and kill the pilot inside. Therefore, Nick held the trigger down and sprayed the "head" of the terrorist WAVE with chaingun fire. For a second there was only a high-pitched whine as the chaingun spun up, but it was quickly replaced by a loud chattering as a steady hail of high-velocity bullets were vomitted forth, speeding towards the other WAVE's cockpit . . .

[ooc]Incredibly annoyingly I got dragged off to france. My access to the internet is as such extremely hampered and limited. As such, I'll be lucky to get a couple of lines of posting every now and then. If I miss a DM, I hope you'll run me a semi-competant NPC, dachi [/ooc]

John dives back behind the wall. And waits, relying on his advanced sensors to give him warning as to when his opponent will come into sight. As he waits he hears a satifying clunk as his cannon reloads.

"Ok. So, as soon as he steps round that corner. I'll give him a surprise."

Once again he starts typing in commands, slaving the cannon's aim to the sensor profile allowing it to semi-automatically target the enemy once it reveals itself.

"What the f...???"

Peter looked down at the beeping computer, then realised he'd just been shot at. And from the computer was saying, he'd been hit aswell. He frowned as he looked at the radar screen. Two bogies. One was starting to circle around, and the other was continueing on. He quickly done a check on its direction. It looked as though it was heading towards the spaceport. He'd deal with that one later. Or someone else would deal with it sooner. Either way, he had a fight on his hands, as he watched on his screen as the other gunship circled back towards him.

Peter remained still, continueing to hover above the bridge, as the enemy aircraft closed in. As it turned, and reached its firing range, Peter pushed the throtal forward, all the way. His gunship leapt forward, pushing Peter tight back into his seat as the geforces took effect. This sudden acceleration hopefully made the enemy miss totally. Before he turned to take down this new target, Peter switched on the radio.

"Control, control. This is Crazyboy. Been attacked by an unidentified aircraft. Have spotted a second unidentified aircraft heading possible towards the spaceport."

He banked sharply right, throtaling down slightly, turning sharply, and heading towards the enemy aircraft. A few flicks on the controls, and Peter activated his advanced scanners, to get a detailed report on his enemy. He completed his turn, and leveled out, heading towards the enemy aircraft. He activated both his guns, and two crosshairs popped up on his HUD. Pushing his throtal to full, he charged towards his rival. The two were now heading directly towards each other, in a dangerous game of 'chicken'.

"Come on... come on... just a little to the left... Bingo!"

Crazy squeezed on both triggers and his gunship bucked slightly. The autocannon blasted off its shots, followed immeditly by the nose mounted rotatary chaingun. The crosshairs on Crazy's HUD had both aligned over the glass covered canopy of the enemy aircraft. The tracers from the chaingun streaked through the air, Crazy using them to guide his shots at the enemy.

At roughly the moment you see it, the pilot of this WAVE - which has no registration number - raises its weapon, and you can only assume that you're about to come under fire...
ooc: Are they special brownies?

*Hewitt just looked on in awe as the massive explosion dominated the landscape.*

"Sweet jesus! It looks like a friggin war zone down there!"

*Highway patrol was a boring duty to be given, especially during such a massive operation of the likes that had been planned today. It had been punishment of course, for the practical joke he'd attempted on the captain last night Who knew the round would be live? So when he'd got the call of trouble over at the spaceport he had raced over here as fast as he could, and now taking in the scene one would expect him to be somewhat reluctant...*

"Party time! YEAH!"

ooc:

*Climbing over the crest quickly though he hit his first snag. An unknown WAVE most likely driven by one of the party responsible for this mess was already down by the wall covering the area just waiting for back up to show up. So when Hewitt came charging over the small crest the first thing he sees is an unknown WAVE almost cockily waving a big shiny weapon in his general direction.*

"Oh crud."

*Not wanting to become target practice on his first real assignment, Hewitt immediately springs into action and his first move is the throw his Shogun into full throttle. The instant acceleration sends the police WAVE forward suddenly and soon Hewitt is careening at full speed down the not-so-slight slope hoping like hell any enemy fire goes high as a result of his move.*

"Wahey! Here goes..."

*Leveling the menacing 135mm cannon at his opponent as he thunders down the hill he tries for a snap shot, making certain to aim a little high above the unknown WAVE's 'head' to compensate for his dropping elevation and inclined platform. With a resounding BOOM! the big gun fires, the recoil immediately throwing Hewitt's WAVE off balance, turning Will's mad dash into something more resembling a drunken stumble......*

Hey, I see you've brought the Sol Wars back, good job! It's been a long time since I last visited Planetarion, and I may as well join in something, specially something good!

Hope I'm not too late!

History: David grew up in the "bad" part of NY, David never really had a father figure, his mother had to "raise" him as best she could. He had always hung around the wrong crowd of people, criminals. Years of rising to the top gave him the name of "Duke", he never had pity for anyone, and always had control, whether he wanted it or not. When he was old enough to leave home, he did the unbelievable, he became a Policeman, joining the NYPD. Not only did his knoledge of crime in NY help out the NYPD, but he himself helped to wipe out the few resistances that he himself was in. He now serves the NYPD without question, his nickname was taken on as his Callsign when "removing" the resistance, he would be the one leading to combat and would always be in control of the situation. He lives in a rather tall apartment, which he rarely visits anymore (duty calls!) but still manages to keep a mess.

[Contractor:] Majestic Corporation
[Class:] Medium/Cruiser
[Appearance:] Bulky but rounded in shape, Shoguns stand at medium height. Their rounded chasis structure makes the silhouette easily recognisable.
[Arnanent:] (included) one smoothbore 135mm cannon (hardpoints) one Class 2
[Equipment:] (included) basic scanners, basic coms (hardpoints) one Class 1
[Additiona:] The Shogun was the first ever WAVE, first constructed six years ago. Despite getting on in years, the Shogun is a well-rounded and reliable model that has earned the respect of its CDF and Majestic pilots. The first of the older Shoguns are beginning to trickle into Commonwealth police forces from the CDF, and one or two have found their way into the NYPD's reserve. Sometimes criticized for a lack of equipment hardpoints.

History: Originally a Majestic Outworld Security Officer, Meyers left the Corporation after barely surviving a botched boarding action undertaken by his unit against a pirate vessel, where he took a near-critical wound and nearly suffocated after the ship depressurised and left him with a fear of starships. Having returned to Earth seeking a quiet life, he could not find a job, and so in desparation joined the NYPD, where his credentials ensured him a place in the Armoured Patrolmen unit.

Re: The Sol War

David smirked as he laid out a Royal Flush, the groans of the men around him made him chuckle as he slid all his winnings towards himself.
Kareb, David's best bud, took all the cards and shuffled them up "How is it that you always beat us at the final rounds?"
"Luck" David says as he pours the money into his helmet, David had been having quite the good week since his little "incident" with the called in "situation".
He strolled over to his "Duchess" as it was christened by the other pilots to fit his nickname, he opened the cockpit and set his helmet in, he stopped for a second, catching a glimpse of the picture taped to the side console, he then closed the cockpit and shut himself out from the thoughts.
David grabbed onto the side ladder and climbed up to the top of the WAVE, he sat down and let his legs hang over the edge, night would come soon, and he again would be needed to stop some petty criminals, or, if he was lucky, to get some more of the actual action, fighting off them terrorists like he used to do, but, all he could do for now, was sit on his WAVE and watch the activity of WAVE Bay 6.

Also you have on Class 2 hardpoint, not three Class 1, so that's invalid.

Re: The Sol War

Government Plaza

PK
With not even enough time to congratulate the foot officers on their work, you set off, heading toward Government Plaza. It isn't too far away - and the travel time can be used productively. You send a radio heads-up to the WAVEs in the area. After a few moments you get a reply:

"John Reily here (Officer John Reily, Gokan - temporarily NPC)," a voice on the other end of the line answers, "I'm on my own, one enemy WAVE down, but there's another one that's got me pinned d- shit!" you hear the rattle of gunfire and the dull clunking noise of bullets hitting WAVE armour, and the line goes silent. Either Officer Reily is distracted, or he's dead...you round the last corner of building - twenty story high red brick apartment - before the Government Plaza complex. Up ahead is an expanse of green grass and trees, complete with the two gigantic Memorial Needles flanking either side of the road leading down through the perimeter wall into the plaza. The needles, crafted from pure white marble and towering up higher than the apartment buildings you just passed between, were said to have been made in memory of the horrendous losses on all sides of the Wars of Annihalation. You can see smoke up ahead, a lot of smoke. Foot officers have erected light barricades blocking off the road to the plaza, and you can see a crowd of onlookers has gathered to try and see some of the fighting. Unfortunatly for them, the bulk of the Commonwealth Senate building blocks any view of the titantic struggle going on within the walls of the complex. You stride over the crowd of people and over the barrier, prompting a lot of excited shouting and scremaing and an encouraging wave from one of the foot officers. Within moments, you are through the walls of the compound and into the massive sandstone-paved expanse of Government Plaza. You see that there aren't any other reinforcements present yet, just you and Reily and the surviving terrorist WAVE. Speaking of which, it looks like Reily might be in a spot of bother. He and the surviving WAVE seem to be locked in a slug-fest. Just as you are about to help him, you catch movement out of the corner of your eye. Turning, you watch as two WAVEs emerge from two plumes of water reaching out of the sea, thrusters blazing a brilliant white colour, and then arc over the perimeter wall before touching down on the paving. They are about eighty metres to your right, nearly on the other side of the grand Commonwealth Senate building. For a moment, they just stand there staring at you, perhaps discussing possible courses of action, but after a few seconds they both leap into action, careening toward you at seemingly impossible speeds with their powerful thrusters working at full capacity. Both of them have eight-shot rocket pods on the right shoulder, as well as heavy machine guns. Even with your medium Shogun WAVE, it's unlikely that you'll be able to take them both at once...

A roar of jet engines, and a pair of NYPD F-1 Hawk Gunships roar directly over you, heading toward the oncoming WAVEs. Both of them rise slightly before diving down toward the walker on the left, miniguns blazing.

The enemy WAVE drops back behind its companion under a hail of minigun bullets. You see some tracers going wide and others glancing off the WAVE's armour. You see smoke and a small fire blazing on the WAVE's right arm. It is, for the meanwhile, out of the equation. The two NYPD Gunships streak off into the distance, afterburners shining bright, and bank around back toward the mass of skyscrapers that is Manhattan Island, presumably heading for HQ to rearm. The other terrorist WAVE has by now entered closing distance. He opens fire...

For the first time in three years, you feel enemy walker bullets hitting your own WAVE's armour. Insitinctively, you look down and check your status display - your WAVE is still in pretty good shape, though two successive hits on your left arm seem to have damage it slightly. Before you can react, you and the enemy WAVE are both momentarily distracted as two huge transport Gunships burst out of a bank of fog up ahead. There must be room for at least fifty people in each of them. Thrusters rotate down into the downward-facing hover position and they slow, coming to a near-halt over the Commonwealth Senate Building. One of them stops on the far side of the building, while the other moves over the gigantic, ornamental glass dome that is the building's distinctive feature before coming to rest. You watch as minigun turrets on the nearest Gunship suddenly whirr into life, smashing the beautiful dome to pieces with minigun bullets, and then as zip lines descend from each of the aircraft. Heavily armed soldiers in light armour descend down the lines, heading down through the shattered glass dome and, from the farthest Gunship, entering through second floor windows...

Somewhere south of NYC...

You aim for the enemy WAVE's head, deciding that seeing as you've already lost the advantage given to you by your WAVE's Rifle and its range, you may as well get in close and try to make every shot count.

You watch as your first shot slams into the enemy WAVE's left leg, and see fragments of armour plating torn off by the impact fly off into the sea. You fire a second shot a moment later, and it smashes into the terrorist mech's right arm. You see the slug penetrate the thin armour plating, then, a moment later, the WAVE's right arm explodes into a swirling orange mass of flame, clearly disabled by your shot. Determined, the terrorist raises his WAVE's left arm and fires his Heavy Machine Gun one handed.

Thanks to your WAVE's speed combined with the disabling effects of your shot, only one Heavy Machine Gun round hits, but it hits hard, piercing your Dragoon class WAVE's light armour easily and smashing into the machinery within. You look down at the status display for your WAVE; the right arm is damaged but still functional. Another hit might put you in the same position as the terrorist. You can't get a clear view of how Craser is fairing, but from your advanced sensors you can see that she appears to have the upper hand.

Melissa remains silent, though you can tell she must have heard you. Perhaps she's in shock, perhaps she merely doesn't feel like answering, but her Kensai lumbers forward just behind yours as you both head toward the three surviving enemy WAVEs. You do a quick series of basic calculations in your head, trying to figure out who will have the upper hand. Your Kensei apparently have superior armour to the enemy designs, which though unidentified are clearly light class to your cruiser class, and your smoothbore cannon would certainly give you the firepower advantage, were it not for the enemies' superior manouevreability and speed. They all had heavy machine guns, and then combined power of three of them would do some serious damage. The terrorist that had fled from you and Melissa still has siz rockets left as well...

As you reach the final hundred metres to the enemy WAVEs, you hear a roaring noise coming from somewhere ahead and to the left, and four missiles streak into view, moving with incredible speed, before slamming into one of the WAVEs that took out the Gunboat Diplomat. You see the heavy, armour-piercing missiles physically tear their way through the body of the walker before exploding, it is obliterated instantly, and the two WAVEs have to brace themselves against the shockwave. You watch as the roar from ahead and left intensifies and a ship similar to the Gunboat Diplomat in size but looking more like a purpose-built merchant rather than a demilitarised warship powers its way across the sky over the former destroyer's wreckage.

"This is Captain Simmons of the Merchant Freighter Mustang. I'm afraid those are all the missiles we had, so you'll have to take those bastards from here on out. I've put my ship in the air as a precaution but we'll hover around. If you need anything, give me a yell. Good luck, I hope you give those cold-hearted murderers a good hiding, out." Says an unfamiliar voice in your ear, and you see the ship, apparently called the Mustang, fly overhead before bringing its nose up and beginning to rise to a higher altitude. Meanwhile, Melissa opens fire...

Melissa targets the damaged WAVE on full automatic, and again, amazingly, manages to hit with half of her shots despite the range. Even more impressively, she scores three successive hits on the terrorist walker's front torso. You watch as the heavy slugs smash through the unidentified design's already weakened front torso armour. The WAVE takes a step back, forced to by the impact, before suddenly freezing - an unusual move for a WAVE under fire. After a few seconds it becomes apparent why; you see plumes of black smoke rising from the bullet holes, and also from the enemy WAVE's back. The cockpit canopy opems just as the flames come into view, licking up through the bullet holes at the WAVE's armour. You see the pilot clamber out onto the rim of the cockpit and look around, desparately trying to find an escape route, but he is too high up to jump. He tries climbing down his WAVE's left arm, but to no avail. The WAVE broils up; the internal fires apparently having reached the fuel lines, and bursts into flame, not so much exploding as burning all over it. In the brilliant glow of the flames, you don't see what happens to the pilot, but you can only assume he was burnt to a crisp.

"I'll let you take this one, Nick," says Melissa over the coms. You and the enemy stare eaxhother down for a moment, then you open fire with the main cannon.

This time you know within a few seconds that you're in trouble. You see the rocket cutting through the air toward you, hear the roar of its approach, and moments later feel a sickening impact on your WAVE's right arm. You glance down at the damage display; your Kensai's arm had taken a severe beating. The entire limb is illuminated a dull ochre colour by the damage display, another hit would probably disable it for good...

Gokan
No problem, you'll probably be back for the next one anyway...

Reasoning that you should try and force the enemy WAVE to engage you up close where your heavier armour and firepower will give you the advantage, you rig the advanced sensors up to your Shogun's 135mm cannon and lay in wait, ready for the terrorist to come round the corner...

Suddenly, you hear a high pitched whining noise from behind you. Turning, you see the enemy WAVE descending onto the ground about twenty feet down the length of the wall. Before you can turn to face it, the terrorist opens fire with his heavy machine gun...

Nonetheless, one of them hit the head, and the advanced sensors look like they could get damaged by another hit to that area. Having completed a slow, pnderous about-face, you open fire with the 135mm.

Officer John Reily attacks Terrorist #4 with 135mm cannon

HIT - TORSO FRONT - 35 DAMAGE (BONUS)

You watch, impressed with yourself, as the sizeable 135mm shell slams into the enemy WAVE's chest. You see the walker stagger backwards from the impact as shards of armour plating are spent spinning off in all directions, and then you see the explosion tear through the WAVE's structure. A thick cloud of black smoke billows into the air through the massive gaps torn in the terrorist mech's torso. You can see a fire burning merilly somewhere inside of it. You can see the pilot hammering furiously against the inside of his cockpit canopy; the release controls must have failed, he is trapped, and the fire will reach the fuel tanks for the thrusters at any second. Sure enough, within a few moments, the WAVE is completely obliterated by an even more massive explosion that flings pieces of shrapnel high into the air...

No time you congratulate yourself; you may just have achieved two WAVE kills in as many minutes, but another wave of attackers has hit Government Plaza. Up ahead, you see another terrorist WAVE battling with another NYPD Shogun - looks like Kurt Weber's. Another terrorist WAVE is picking itself up from the floor, heavily damaged, and there are two large gunships hovering above the Commonwealth Senate Building...transport gunships...you feel a sinking feeling in your gut as a bolt of realisation hits you: the terrorists are after the senate!

The Skies of New York City

Crazy
You snap off a report to control, and Officer Fletcher dully acknowledges your statement.

"Confirmed, Crazyboy," She replies over the radio, "I've got two scout Gunships just returning to HQ to rearm, I'll send them to intercept the other Gunship you saw as soon as they're done. Think you can handle that one on your own?" Even as she asks the question, you are already executed a complex series of manouevres designed to bring you out on a straight bearign against the enemy Gunship. It comes into view, coursing toward you at speed to match your own. You line up your crosshairs, tense but ready. You squeeze the trigger, and feel your Gunship jolt as the autocannon and chaingun roar into life. A fraction of a second later, muzzle flash from the nose of the other Gunship - which is of a design you haven't come across before, though that could mean anything - signifying that it too had opened fire.

Air Patrolman Peter Vincetti attacks Terrorist Pilot #1 with chaingun and autocannon
(due to your considerable offensive intitative advantage, a hit on either wing will translate to a bonus)

Terrorist Pilot #1 attacks Air Patrolmen Peter Vincetti with dual miniguns

HIT - LEFT ENGINE - 15 DAMAGE

For a few seconds, everything seems to move in slow motion. As the last of your shots leave the barrels of their guns, you see the enemy Gunship's nose-mounted miniguns flare twice with muzzle flash. You see your own tracer bullets streak toward the enemy Gunship, see some of your shots wide, and see two more along with one of the autocannon shells bury themselves into the enemy Gunship's engines. Simultaneously, you feek an impact on your own Gunship, and see that the enemy Gunship has stopped firing, and is banking away from you, thick black smoke streaming from tis engines. A glance at your own status display reveals that the left engine is a bit worse for wear, but still functional...

NYPD Headquarters

Io Cor/Ryon/Brimstone
You're sitting in the so-called ready room, where off-duty officers sit ready to deploy at any moment when the unit is on high alert, playing poker. Suddenly, Sergeant Deginowksi runs into the room, looking pretty excited, and wearing his helmet.

"Everyone! Terrorists attacking the city, known targets are Unity Spaceport and Government Plaza. Get to your WAVEs and launch immediately, you'll recieve further instructions once you're out! Gogogo!" He yells, before turning around and sprinting off down the corridor toward the WAVE Hangar...

(Apologies for the shortness, but I'm kind of running out of ideas for writing new WAVE pilots in atm...)

The Skies Above Government Plaza

Fluffie
You sit in the belly of the NYPD Situation Response Team's transport Gunship, deafened by the roar of its powerful engines as it courses through the sky toward the Commonwealth Senate Building. You didn't know much; Police Captain Grant has explained that with terrorists inside the Senate Building, time was of the essence, and so they didn't have time to plan the assault properly after hours of observation like they would in a normal hostage situation. Or something. The NYPD SRT has two transport Gunships. The one you are currently seated in is a Condor Fast Transport - which just came in two weeks ago - and is the smaller of the two. It's narrow, cramped cargo bay is currently filled with Ranger-armoured officers who are, like youtself, equipped with jetpacks. You're in the first wave, and you're being thrown straight into the maelstrom in an attempt to save the government from destruction. The Bahr-equipped patrolmen and those with Ranger suits that don't have jetpacks are being brough to the Senate Building in the larger, slower transport and will be deployed on the ground. There are four openings in the bay's hull, one on either side at both ends of the aisle running between the benches which are currently occupied by your fellow armoured patrolmen. With it being a minute or two untill they drop, most of them are sitting with their gas masks pulled up over their heads, so that they can breath fresh, normal air rather than the odd, sterilised kind that came through the masks.

"One minute to target," says the pilot in your ear. The pilot's name is Eddy Carrez, you've spoken to him on a few occasions. You see the other armoured patrolmen, those not already enclosed, pull their gas masks down to cover their faces, before performing the seal-check procedures. You glance down at your watch. Thirty seconds. You turn and look out of the circular port hole-style window in the side of the transport bay, you see the last block of apartment buildings pass by, then the two Memorial Needles that seem to stand guard on either side of the road leading to Government Plaza. Then, you see the perimeter wall. "Ten seconds," Eddy reports over the coms. You feel the Gunship begin to slow. Down below is the massive Commonwealth Senate Building. Its beautiful glass dome, positioned in the centre of the roughly square building, and one of the city's landmarks, has been shattered completely. Suddenly you see something moving. Another transport Gunship - but this one is painted entirely black. And you can see something else on it. Gun turrets! You watch as the chaingun turrets on the other Gunship's underside swivel round, seeming to point directly at you, then you see the muzzle flash. A fraction of a second later, you see a flash of bright white sparks and hear the high-pitched whining noise of a ricochet. A few more clangs and whines as the chaingun round bounces round the inside of the transport bay. The other armoured patrolmen are on their feet now. You can hear them shouting over the radio. "We're under fire! We're under fire! We're hit! Fuel tanks leaking! Go! Go! Go!" Eddy's voice cuts across the clamour, and the armoured patrolmen near the doors oblige, leaping out into the cool morning air beyond, firing their jetpacks to slow their descent, flaring their way down throught the shattered dome and into the seat of the Commonwealth's government. Presently you find yourself standing at the exit, looking down below at the ground. Seemed a long way away from up here. Presently, the Gunship gives a sharp jolt and thick black smoke floods the transport bay...

Alternatively as soon as you feel like you have a place for me, NPC me into somewhere. I dont mind.

You can't get a clear view of how Craser is fairing, but from your advanced sensors you can see that she appears to have the upper hand.
cursing slightly , Tom presses his WAVE to circle around the terrorist, letting loose some more shots aimed at the torso, in hopes of getting the second arm disabled, and in hopes of seeing how Craser is doing

The terrorist simply stands there for a few seconds, apparently stunned into silence, before deciding to follow up with a rocket...

Terrorist #10 attacks Officer Nick Andrews with rocket
HIT - RIGHT ARM - 20 DAMAGE

This time you know within a few seconds that you're in trouble. You see the rocket cutting through the air toward you, hear the roar of its approach, and moments later feel a sickening impact on your WAVE's right arm. You glance down at the damage display; your Kensai's arm had taken a severe beating. The entire limb is illuminated a dull ochre colour by the damage display, another hit would probably disable it for good...
/ooc *Shamelessly tries to cut line and get DM'd again as well. ooc/

Nick performs a quick mental analysis on the situation in his head as he and Melissa approached the trio of terrorist WAVEs. Although Nick had to concede that the odds were not in their favor, both his rage and the spirits of all those innocent civilians who had been killed in the freighter's destruction drove him on. The terrorists had to be stopped, now, whatever the cost.

Fortunately, as the two NYPD WAVs closed to within 100m of the terrorists, they recieved some unexpected help. A quartet of missiles suddenly appeared from the left, slamming into one of the terrorist WAVEs. The heavy missiles, designed to blast holes in the armor of capital ships, easily tore through the WAVE's comparitively thin armor, before detonating and virtually vaporizing the terrorist, WAVE and all. A few moments later a civilian merchant ship appeared in the sky, hovering over the spaceport and climbing into the sky rapidly. As it did, the ship's captain sent a quick message to Nick, explainning that while they didn't have anymore missiles to use in the battle below, they would do whatever they could to help if called.

Nick briefly openned up a comm channel to the rapidly ascending ship, and thanked them for their assistance. "We'll get the rest of these b*stards ourselves, don't worry." Nick then cut the channel, and once more directed his full attention towards killing the enemy.

Melissa was one of the first to fire, and once again her Heavy Machine gun cut a swath of destruction across the terrorist WAVE, hammering several bullets through its armor despite Melissa's firing of the weapon on full automatic. The terrorist staggered back a step, and then bizarrely froze in place. The plumes of smoke emerging from the bullet holes dotting its chest a moment later served as an explanation, indicating that the WAVE was crippled. The terrorist pilot popped his canopy open, and began trying to crawl out of his WAVE before the fuel lines erupted, but unfortunately he was too high above the ground. Even Nick, despite his sudden anger, winced as the crippled WAVE burst into flame, almost certainly roasting its former pilot alive.

There was suddenly only one WAVE left, out of three. "I'll let you take this one." Melissa commed, then cut the channel before Nick could respond. Still moving forward to close the range, Nick attempted to drop his targeting reticle over the last terrorist WAVE's chest, and hoping to finish the battle before the certainly shocked terrorist could respond, fired his 120mm cannon again. The anti-WAVE shell blasted out of his WAVE's left arm, but instead of plowing into the terrorist's torso, the shell went high and flew over his right shoulder.

Nick cursed, and readied his 20mm chaingun as he attempted to take evasive action from the terrorist's return fire. Nick reacted a bit too late, however, and he winced as several heavy machien gun bullets zinged off of his armor. In shock, Nick looked down at his status monitor to find that after the terrorist had finished firing, and despite landing several hits with his HMG, none of them had managed to penetrate his armor. Laughing confidently, Nick raised his chaingun to fire, but his amusement quickly turned to horror as the terrorist WAVE suddenly revealed a surprise as its pilot released a rocket. At such short range it was hard to miss, and the terrorist didn't miss as the heavy unguided muntion streaked forward to slam into Nick's Kensai. Cursing again, Nick spared a moment to look down at his status monitor, and frowned as he noticed that his WAVE's right arm was now colored a dark red. Clearly, another solid hit on that arm would finish it, something Nick was sure he'd catch H*ll for from LeCarreau, if not his ground crew as well.

"Take this!" Nick snarled as he stopped his Kensai's forward motion, and dropping it back into a classical firing stance. Dropping the targeting reticle over the terrorist WAVE, Nick walked a stream of slugs from his 20mm chaingun from a point somewhere near the center of the WAVE's chest, towards his right arm, where the rockets were housed. With any luck, Nick could disable the rocket's firing system, or even detonate the remainning rockets before they could leave their launcher. Either way, Nick could not afford for the terrorist to get off another rocket, and peppering its launcher with fire was probbaly the best way to do that. Once his barrage of light chaingun bullets was finished, Nick dragged his targeting reticle back towards the center of the WAVE's chest, and fired off another of his Kensai's 120mm main gun shells.

Your first instinct is to throw your WAVE headlong down the incline in the hope that your motion will throw off the enemy WAVE rider's aim. As such, your Shogun pounds its way down the slope, earth shifting uncertainly beneath its feet. With the cockpit shaking up and down violently, you can just about see the light enemy WAVE raise is heavy machine gun ready to fire...

You watch with little surprise as the shot from your heavy 135mm smoothbore goes wide and slams into the concrete perimeter wall behind the enemy WAVE and to its right. The subsequent explosion catches the enemy WAVE on its back, and you see it thrown off balance, teeterng precariously on its left leg. At this point you realise that you're not going to be able to arrest your Shogun's motion in time to avoid a collision, you do the only thing you can and raise your WAVE's arms defensively in front of the cockpit. You feel a tremendous impact. The enemy WAVE, much lighter than your own, is thrown backwards into the wall by the collision. It hits the concrete wall hard, demolishing a section of it, before ending up lying on its back on the concrete layer covering the spaceport's ground. It might only be damaged superficially, but the pilot is probably stunned...

*Kurt reacted quickly, deciding that Officer Reilly would have to survive on his own for the moment, he turned his attention to the new WAVEs on the scene. Then the gunships flew over, blazing away at the mechs, distracting their attention momentarily. Kurt took the oppurtunity to aim and fire his 135 mil at the one with the head damage, knowing that would be the more vulnerable. He didn't aim for the centre of the WAVE though, instead he aimed to the upper right of its torso, between the rocket pod and the head. With the time he'd been granted by the flyers, he could afford to make sure his aim was true. He zeroed in the targeting reticules, and pulled the trigger, loosing off his second shell of the day, and beginning the procedure of loading the next one into place. Hopefully the explosive round would either penetrate the cockpit or blow up the rocket pod, or indeed, both. Any would do, since both would likely eliminate the WAVE from the fight. Kurt didn't wait to see what damage he did though, as he was busily ducking behind the cover of the nearest building before the terrorist's partner could fire back. He triggered the sequence for his shotgun to be unsheathed from its shoulder holster, and quickly the Shogun mechanically pulled it loose. Kurt held the barrel low with his back to the build, not up near the WAVE's face like some movie police man. Special forces trained him better than an action hero. Now that he was out of sight of the enemy WAVE and with a loaded weapon in his hands, he knew what to do. He pulled the controls gentlely downward, nudging the giant robot into a kneeling position, minimising his target sillouette to the terrorist who was likely chasing him down at this point. At least, the terrorist thought he was chasing Kurt down. The moment the enemy poked any bit of metal around the corner of the building, Kurt unloaded two shells of massive buckshot into the unidentified WAVE, before they could bring their own weapons to fire.*

ooc// If you choose the terrorist not to chase him, assume he ducked out, fired twice then ducked back into cover. //ooc
