Re: Are there any RP'ers in England?
Heh...
Well, since everyone is adding his or her two cents to the pile, here are mine...
I've seen all sides of this discussion, since I've been a Non-drinker for most of my life- until I hit 23 that is.
I had my reasons for not drinking, the two main ones being the simplest:
One: There wasn't a drink to be found that tasted like Anything I'd want to swallow. I abhor the taste of alcohol...
Two: I Hate to lose my self-control and composure.
Then, my best friend decided she wanted to get drunk. And, she did not intend to get drunk alone. So, being the friend I am, I said: "Sure, if you can find something I won't immediately throw back up, I'll get drunk with you! <Cough>Like Hell you can<Cough>"
Unfortunately, she being the friend She is: She found me something I could actually stomach...
...Crap...
Afer that, I was a Vodka-junkie.
Of course, because it was (virtually) my first voluntary drink- I was a Very cheap drunk that night. After that, I SLOWLY progressed towards other, different kinds of alcohol, but I still consider myself to be a moderate to light drinker.
Incidentally: She was also the girl that introduced me into other types of intoxication, that my country appears to be so D@mn popular for. Roughly the same kind of classification applies there- only a very light experimenter- and a Very infrequent one at that.
My point (I know, Veeeery long in the making) is:
I can still very much enjoy a sober party, but there is something to be said for intoxication.
I don't see the point of drinking oneself into a stupor though- a buzz should be enough for anyone.
What kind of effect said intoxication has on each person is up to that person. And yes, I also hold annoying/agressive or whichever kind of negative drunk fully responsible for their actions, since you should know what kind of drunk you are before you expose others to your drunken self.
Thus -assuming that I would/could actually make it- the fact whether or not alcohol would be served would not be a factor in my decision at all.
There, that should more than make up for several months of missed posts!

isn't it slightly offensive to refer to ex-colonies as "bitches"? and doesn't that include most of the world, bar europe and, like, antarctica

ah, what a release.

As I recall, we couldn't even persuade Meaks to try one of the Irn Bru floats. Which reminds me Heiro, you need to lay in a store of large plastic cups...

Perhaps everybody should bring a couple of bottles. That might ease the costs on my part

Re: Are there any RP'ers in England?
I was an rper, thought i would pop back to say hi!
What happened to the mods? Fun been cut right out, they even quote the rules. In my day the mods were the most frequents abusers, and made mods in an effort to stop em.
Drinking is good and fun in the right amounts. I believe if you have been so wasted you threw up everywhere and stuff, it does you good as it gives you very clear boundaries, and a respect/fear for how bad you will feel!
Also, people used to enjoy my posts when pissed, so it can always be amusing.
Rpers in England - always have been!
Have lots of people gone, or do i just have bad memory?

Re: Are there any RP'ers in England?
Well... this sertainly was an interesting post.
As for drinking I recently experienced the worst drinking eppisode of my life. Last weekend I turned 18 on saturday (the legal drinking age of Norway where I happen to live) on sunday I went to a bday party that was dedicated to a very good friend of mine and a little to me. (party's on sunday are bad to begin with) And proceeded to get quite drunk. Although I can't say I was drunk of my feet to the point of going to sleep in my spew in a bush, it wasn't too far away. Luckely I'm not an agressive drunk though.
The following morning at 8:15am I had a dentist appointment to get my wisdom teeth removed (only the bottom right one) which appeared to be a quite complicated procedeure. Sine my tooth was stuck and had to be crushed to get it out. While I was sitting there in the worst hangover of my life with actual smoke comming out my mouth cus of thedrill (not kidding) I quickly realized that alcohol is evil.
This will however probly not stop me from going out partying next weekend probly getting nice and tipsy then too.
So my conclusion is that drinking is all well and good. However pick the time and place and don't go getting wasted in a situion where this is inappropriate, like a rp bbq. Having a few beers while talking with some mates is however quite acceptible imo.
