Glandular Fever
Have any of you had it?
I think I might have it (am going to the doctors tomorrow).
For the last month or so, I've just been really exhausted in the evenings. Every weekend when I've been out, I've ended up coming home early at 10-11pm.
I've also completely lost my appetite, and have lost quite a bit of weight as a result. My muscles are all aching and I feel crappy
Now I have a swollen lump thing just above my collar bone, which apparently is where my glands are.
Doh.
Also, there isn't any treatment. I just have to wait for it to go away. It isn't serious enough for me to take time off work, but it is serious enough to make me completely exhausted pretty much all the time.
Sucks.
Especially since half term is coming up next week

Yeah, it happens. Go to a Doctor and make sure, and don't kiss any of your students.

Find out if it is Glandular Fever. If it is, there's nothing you can do so make the best of the situation.

Re: Glandular Fever
The situation could quite easily be manipulated to gain not only half-term away from work, but as long as you can convince your doctor that the glandular fever (or whatever) is making you feel far too tired to leave the house, let alone teach. One presumes teachers receive a comprehensive sick pay package?

Re: Glandular Fever
I had glandular fever when I was about 10, it lasted about a year and meant that I was too tired to do anything the slightest bit active. I had to have lots of blood tests because they didn't think to look for it in a 10 year old

Re: Glandular Fever
you'll need a blood test to confirm it's glandular fever, but if you've managed to actually do stuff then I doubt you've got it. Oh and it sucks, I had it last summer.

Re: Glandular Fever
Yeah, I'm recovering now and I don't think it was glandular fever.
I think it was me just being a woos.
My mum asked why I hadn't been taking paracetemols - I didn't know why, so went and bought some. I'm such an idiot.
On Nurofen now and feeling much much better, I'm sure you'll all be glad to know!!!

Re: Glandular Fever
Paracetemol always makes me feel ill, and it doesn't mix with booze.
Use Ibuprofen.

Re: Glandular Fever
Ibuprofen is indeed the win.
Plus if you're really desperate, it's safe to take it with paracetamol as well so you can, for example, have Ibuprofen + lemsip or something.

I'm taking Nurofen - I thought that was a form of ibuprofen?
Does Ibuprofen mix ok with alcohol? If it does then you've just brought in the delivery of happy newspapers, and on the front page there's a picture of me dancing.
