So , erm , those Muslim protests
Orchestrated violence has left 16 dead in Nigeria
Now one of the points i made was that when this hit a country such as Nigeria, where theres a very even split of Christians and Muslims, was hit by protests, the odds were that something very unpleasant was going to occur.
And it has. The report specifies killings not because people were black or white, Danish or Italian , but specifically because they were christian.
Personally, I think in a country as lawless as Nigeria, something of this nature could balloon really really quickly, into a situation where even the 411 scammers will want out of there because it wont be safe to be part of any organised religion.
Your thoughts please gentlemen on where this is likely to lead.

Re: So , erm , those Muslim protests
I doubt it will lead to anything too serious. Yeh, maybe some villagers will fight but I doubt either side's high officials (religious or political) will promote the fighting between the two sides.
Nigera does have problems between the North and South but still, it is in no ones interest to spark a civil war between two parts of the country, or two religions in the country.
Now, if people were to totally ignore their officials, then it while spiral into chaos, but thats not likely to happen.

1) I do not care what happens to christians as (according to their own doctrine, neither should they).
2) Nigeria is not 'lawless' in the way you imply
3) there is no obvious potential for escalation.
4) people die.

Just for a quick update on how law and order in Nigeria is running fine and smooth.

well to be fair you seemed to be focusing on statistics relating to one particular offence.
it is not enough (really) is it to jump to the conclusion that a state is 'lawless'

Re: So , erm , those Muslim protests
What was the purpose of those protests again?
And is it working?

Re: So , erm , those Muslim protests
It's really getting to the stage where they're just attention whoring. If not, it's disturbing how insane these people are to hold such a grudge over such a trivial thing. I even read that there is now a $1,500,000 bounty on the head of the guy that drew the cartoon, I mean WTF!? Psychos, these people really need a reality check!

It's 419, muppet. Unless a certain pop-group are planning on touring there? :| ( http://www.the411.co.uk/)
It's not going to lead to war, this is just more of the same sensationalist repostings of news that happen every day.
