Hold on there fella's...
...just because some guy tested negative for HIV after having tested positive, don't start having massive anal orgies just yet. For this fellow, it may just have been a false negative the first time he tested, but in case it is true that he was cured, before you start dropping your pants at every chance you get there's still:
HPV (Google for images too lose your appetite for the next week)
aka Broccoli sprouts of the genital area
aka Martian terrain of the genital area
Hepatitis
Gonorrhea
Syphilis
Genital Herpes
carpet rash
etc.
:/

i must have missed the bit where someone suggested that we could
(btw jonny told me first in #forums. to quote: "The trust said the tests were accurate but were unable to confirm Scotsman Mr Stimpson's cure because he had declined to undergo further tests. " what an altuistic fellow.)

I should be the recipient of a sympathetic tenner. I may have worded that wrong.

Re: Hold on there fella's...
Be careful with such "news" before you know how his diagnosis happened.
According to info from the "institut für medizinische Mikrobiologie und Immunologie der Universität Hamburg" from 2004, the HIV Test is very accurate and false negatives are very rare (though they already happened) and false positives are only 0.2 percent.
A german hospital had one infected person among 20.000 blood donors. With a false positive rate of 0.2 percent and a false negative of 0 it results in 41 people beeing diagnosed HIV positive of which 40 actually are not infected. Due to the "prävalenz" in this mentioned case, by far most people diagnosed by the HIV test are false positives.
Without precise information about his tests and where he did them, this story is pretty meaningless.
