Re: Round 26 Predictions?
So after 6 pages of chat have we all come to the conclusion that 2 wins in a row is a fantastic achievement and a 3rd victory would be unprecedented and brilliant?

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
Unprecedented: could be. Brilliant? No.
And it's still too early. The round isn't over yet. It hasn't even started. Someone else might actually try to win as well.

I thought Gate used this argument to suggest that ND wouldn't be allowed to win because of this so called conclusion to downplay ND's chances of winning?
I'm not saying he's not entitled to do so, but I'd ask him does he expect anyone remotely intelligent not to see through that argument? I wish ND well obviously, but his line of posting (although he has influenced the thread quite considerably) seems ultimately quite pointless in my eyes.
ND have won the past two rounds by exploiting the fact that they haven't been the strongest, because the politics have allowed it. This is not because the game has changed for the worse, in fact I would say the lack of pedigree alliances has made the game more competitive and fluid. ND did very well when it wasn't because despite their weaknesses, they had an HC who could make the alliance's ranking better than the sum of its parts. ND are well placed to exploit the current conditions and they are best off doing what they did to win the past two rounds which is keep their heads down and get on with it.
The line of posting I've read lately is like when a footballer lies through his teeth about enjoying competition for places, because no footballer really enjoys it, he wants to be in the team.

While lets say urwins last round, had alot of "good" players who cba to play for top 150 ranks, and instead def hoe to help their m8s out.
I know I always turn into an inactive def hoe if I dont do well
Also, its alot easier to create score from simply attacking as this requires little to no activity from members if the BCs are good because of the fking useless prelaunch feature.

Actually, it's not your views that are wrong, its all of your mentality.. You play for personal rank, and personal rank only.. While most of the ND players i know (including myself) play for ND and ND only.. If ND wanted me to be rank 1000, i would do my best to get to rank 1000 no matter how foolish it sounds.
That is what ND has been doing all theese rounds, building a good and loyal team, while many other alliances seem to scrape together the best players they can get, while none of them play together, nor do they like the bugger that is 2 ranks above him.
See where im going?

let's just say nd was at it's best in early round 2, before WaC started breaking apart aka highest avg score before that even vs legion dudes when they tagged up. After r2 ND has had their own community but was in decline to current state, that's about it in my personal view. Prolly is one of the strongest alliances just because of their casual playstyle fits current game well.
Anyways longer rounds is solution if you guys really want to know what's the best alliance currently in the game, it's bit ridiculously that it's less than 5 avg skilled players score make the difference between alliances aka completely pointless topic when it's a toss of a coin who wins when there's a possibility that few players leaving/changing tags can decide it. Thou it's always nice to see people talking.
Had to take yer bate fish.. was avoiding this topic until now.

Your very wrong.
I dont play for rank only, infact I very seldom bother with it. Thing is though that pa is no longer a real wargame where u take out ur enemies. If, lets say in an eXi round - I attacked a 1up, and I calculated heavy losses for defence, but the losses on my side were so big that I would not regain from gained roids, I would still land if I killed more than I lost ( salvage taken into consideration )
I would not however, play shit and end top1000. Nor would I play like an imbecile and crash for xp.
The team feeling is important though, but dont think ND is the only alliance / group of players with a good community.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
ND are the only alliance with institutional loyalty left really. Other alliances have far too high rates of turnover (and existence!) to build up something as important as that.
Actually ascendancy might have it as well but I'd be completely disgusted at anyone who did so I hope we don't

Agree, and its sad.
I like to think we had some of the same in Omen. We had pretty much the same faces playing every round. I also think most who were with us in eXcessum would rally to the flag for another round
Problem is most communities though, is lack of good command..
ascendancy has had a nice core for quite some rounds now, so yes. in a weird way ur right

I've played with the greatest and worst PA players through the many rounds and all those players will admit, i play PA in this order:
Alliance
Galaxy
Rank
-Any order/task or whateva my HC made up after having sleezy groupsex in the officers room, ill do without regrets.
-I DO bitch on my HC, especially when we gave away a win 2 weeks before round end, but i know they want us to Bitch (Kinky Aight?). It keep them sharp and concentrated, but knowing they have the respect and 100% devoting of their members even in bad times (we've had our share). We still have a good laugh sometimes about our HC's NOOB decisions.
Actually, after every round we have a 'Noob HC of the round Award'...ok that part i lied, but it is a good idea though!
-When i launchend on u, u better have a !@#$ defence!! I'm The Lemming King!
-XP-whoring is what i do best! I should change my nick in 'Kamikaze' tbh. I must have at least 1 ,in my better rounds 2 or 3, 'Great and good' landings. Attacking is the best defence.
-Pnaps is for the weak, i love to launch on you! God i hate it sooo much, It only shows how weak and pathetic you really are. Did i hurt your feelings by saying this? Go cry me river my friend!
-You have an awsome and brilliant BC team, but half ur alliance are p-napping..i mean wtf?! You do the math...
But for the rest we're kinda scheisse, but when we're playing we have loads and loads of fun and that my friends...is our main goal every round again...
The NewDawn Community have been playing PA for sooo many rounds together now, we have no secrets for each other...I even know that PWG wear's pink thongs and have gay sex on Tuesdays, but thats not a secret right?
These are some of my points of view, try to imagine what an alliance would be combinend with at least 70 other Crazy Nutheads and Noobs

I haven't fully read the thread, but the fact it is unprecedented surely does it make it harder. It partly depends on how much people dislike the fact ND has won it twice in a row. If people are indifferent then they won't try super hard to stop us winning it a 3rd. However, I suspect there are quite a few people around that don't like the fact a lesser alliance than all those super 1337 people keeps winning.
Plus, in all the rounds of PA I've played, I've never been on the winning side so we are bound to lose.

Hey look mummy I might have been good at pa once but now if I don't hit t20 pretty much instantly I just give up and suck instead doesn't really equal super 1337. Not that I didn't get the sarcasm, just thought I'd elaborate for the good of the nation.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that I can't think what Gate is attempting to achieve from his posting is pretty much like an axe murderer concealing his love for giving people nasty surprises in the night. So if I think it's purposeless and obvious, I can state that if I can provide something to back that opinion up, which I did.

When there were alliances like exilition and 1up around, yes your '1337' argument might have been true, simply because (and this is just one example) Angels seemed to prefer to screw themselves by killing ND and let an alliance they could take losing to win, rather than enable the politics for either themselves or another lesser alliance to win. Nowadays this isn't the case - simply because the top alliances are at parity and its much of a muchness and as I explained in my first post, I have no problem with this - in fact I approve of it.
Indeed, what has happened is a complete reversal of how it used to be, because the most capable alliance in terms of its membership (Ascendancy) is instantly leapt on by everyone out of sheer terror/hate whenever it does anything that represents any kind of real threat. While I won't complain about the strategy because our own ability and arrogance pretty much asks for it, I'll take the time to point out its just as intellectually bankrupt as what happened to ND many rounds ago, because people seem less fussed about taking actions that could result in them winning the game.
Needless to say I suggest you revisit your analysis of how the universe works.
Quote:

Given your previous attempts with ND, I'd say it wasn't for the want of trying to win. ND have as good a chance as anyone this round.

I would personally be very surprised if we can do it again.
Winning two rounds in a row, coupled with some ill advised AD posting, and a few hissy fits here and there does not really ingratiate people towards an alliance.
Having said that, win or lose, I'm fairly sure that ND will grit their teeth and ensure that whoever the eventual winner is, they will fully deserve it.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
That's pretty much a given though. Whoever wins deserves to win. It doesnt take ND (in the guise of the guardians of PA) to ensure this.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
Implying that I regard my alliance as "guardians of PA" is exactly the sort of slick, greasy, politics that we should have been applying over these last two rounds!

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
I guess we're the first ally to ever have planets exile out of overly heavily friendly gals.. but nice attempt GJN.
