He had a lot of potential at West Ham, for the 6 months he was in the first team. Chelsea bought him, and he played fairly regularly under Ranieri, and got into the England squad.
Sometimes, however, potential just isn't realised.
His potential career has gone downhill, his actual career is certainly better than it was playing for West Ham, at the moment at least.
