What to do...
Last week my mum was expecting a laptop beginning of week ordered on the Internet.
When it wasnt here on Friday I phoned customer services to ask why, it and was told "consignment number dont exist, I will have to raise teh orderr again and send it out"
Now the question is, should we send the laptop back or keep it? I would like to keep it but my mum says its "stealing by knowing"
What shall i do?

Re: What to do...
oops forgot to add, they told me the second laptop would arrive on monday and on monday BOTH laptops arrived together
Payment was taken the next day, when they processed the order
Also in First order was a printer and usb printer cable, according to info in "my accounts" on website the cable and laptop were being dispatched from same warehouse, but those two arrived.
In my accounts is a invoice for £0.00 showing the second laptop

Re: What to do...
Tell your mother she is right and offer to take it down to the post office on Monday 9am sharp.
Then when she goes off shopping or to work or to solve some vicious murder committed on the village green, sneak the laptop upstairs and PRETEND that you took it back.

Re: What to do...
best thing is keep it and don't open it for a month or so. At the end of 1 month, if you haven't been contacted or charged again, keep it. If they do charge you send it back. Technically you are in the clear cause the transaction doesn't even exist.
I was always taught bad things happen to bad people though, maybe if you give it back they will give you a 1337 coupon or something.
Personally I would give it back.
But it could be reasoned to keep it also.

They'll figure it out eventually. I'd send it back and try to reap whatever benefit you can from that.

Re: What to do...
Keep it for a while. Even thought the paperwork leads back to you, they cannot prove anything. For instance, the courier could have snatched it, for all the know. So, you should keep it, check out what kind of heat you get, and then decide.
Or be honest. If it's the small shop around the corner, driven by a old couple, you should return it, but if it's something big, keep it. (And it sounds big, who else does these types of error?)

Re: What to do...
Phone them up and ask them what they want you to do with it. If they want the laptop back, get them to send a courier to pick it up (or get them to pay for the postage, either way).

Ebuyer have ****ed me over in the past, so keep it so I can have some measure of revenge,
But yeah, the "keep it for a bit and see if they chase it up" thing seems like a plan

Re: What to do...
I bought a watch by mail order. It was a portsmouth watch for when we won promotion to the premier league and cost £100.
They charged us for 2, so I complained and they removed one fo the charges, but two arrived. I kept it packaged up, and they didnt ask for it back so I kept it.
It was their mistake, not mine, and was sent to me so I feel no guilt in keeping it. I suggest you do the same.
Only time I wouldnt keep something was if it belonged to a small company that was desperate for money etc. These big companies know things like this happen, and therefor put prices of everything up slightly to compensate it. So technically, everyone pays more. However, they wouldnt drop the prices if they are returned, they would just keep it as extra profit.

Re: What to do...
I'm not sure but i think that ...
My parents ordered some furniture and the wrong stuff was delivered.
They phoned up and said basically "you sent us the wrong stuff, give us our stuff and take yours away"
They waited a while and got their stuff.
The furniture that they hadn't ordered wasn't picked up.
They phoned the company to tell them this.
The company said they would pick it up but still haven't (i suspect that if they don't pick it up soon ... it's already been there a few months) they might not get the chance (is there a statue of limitations on something like this?)
Not their fault the company is retarded.

Re: What to do...
Keep it for 6 months un-wrapped. A bit like finding stuff on the street, and handing them in to the police station. If no one claims after 6 months, it`s legally yours.

Well, no, it's not really like that at all. You don't normally turn something over to the police if you already know to whom it belongs.
Just phone the company and explain the situation. They should definitely pay the postage to have it returned though.

If Stifler gets away with this, then what's to stop anyone else just ordering one thing, pretending they didn't get it, and getting a 2nd item?

Your mum is correct, it is stealing. So just kill the b1tch and bury her under the patio and everything will be fine. You get your laptop and she wont have to live with the guilt.
