Alliance experiences
At the start of this round on AR or on another forum was a thread about good 'smaller' alliances for 'new' ppl to join. For most of the time my gal was an active top 15 gal so the GC and I as MoC helped the irc active new ppl (or those who returned for r9.5) to get in an alliance.
(thnx LDK btw for cnutting us )
Basicly my question is : Which alliance did you consider the best that your new galm8's joined
My / my gals experiences:
We got our galm8's into: Entity / Vengeance / Rock / F-crew (also HR / pack, but i dont think we can consider those as smaller alliances)
I considered the best so far Vengeance.
Always an @ active in their public chan to pass on a defcall and their def was really good. It kinda surprised me, cuz they managed to cover several of my galm8's from incoming from LDK and Dragons. I didnt really expected them to do so well.
Rock i consider an ok 2nd, cuz it was always hard to find an active @, could take 2 ticks before i could pass on the defcall towards on officer. Their def was normally ok.
I dont have many experiences with Entity, but the one time i had to report a defcall there, it was taken well care of.
I have really bad experiences with F-crew this round.
Not even sure if you can call it an alliance. Tried to pass on 3 defcalls. First time, no @ alive for 4 ticks, so no def from there.
2nd time they allready could tell me at eta 8 that they couldnt def it (wasnt that much incoming imo). 3rd time the officer said hello back and then just went to idle. It kinda disappointed me, cuz its not exactly a new alliance.
so that were my experiences,
what were yours ????

HR is a perfect place to be! Though they really can't be considered a "small alliance". These ppl clearly rock! And the community feeling (also ofc towards new ppl) is more then just awesome.

My gal being **** as always, none of the 'new guys' which was 12 ppl even attempted to get into an alliance.
The 3-4 ppl i was on irc just idled, and ws far from online enough to get in anywhere.

Well, I tried to get defence off Wolfpack (yes, n00bs ) and they said that the guy had very few defence points and were going to kick him out, so no defence for him.
Which is good I suppose, have to keep track of the inactives.
I've had very little experience in getting defence for my galaxy though, what with me being in an LDK galaxy.

I think its different for every person. Are you looking for a community, where fun is a key component or an alliance which will help you achieve success with your planet. And thats just two different and possibly extreme variances, and in between there are an enourmous amount of combinations for each and every person.
Before you can join an alliance you must first decide what you want from your alliance. I know I learnt alot throughout the various alliances i've played in since rd4 about myself, my principles, my ambitions and my attitude and I'm sure many others have as well
I do remember fondly my time in UV (I think they died as an alliance at the end of round 8? - someone will correct me I'm sure) and to all those new players out there, you don't necessairly have to be in the biggest and best alliances to do well and have fun, and often you will enjoy yourself more in a less demanding enviroment.

UV became VGN together with BD in r8.
I have to say, they are really good on def, my galmate that joined them is always covered, and we had our fair share of incs this round.
I can say mixed things about Rock though, most of the times they defend good, but once the only active op/officer said that he quit pa and would not pass the defcall on to anyone else as well

It's always nice when people say good things about us
UV did indeed merge with BD in R8 in response to the alliance situation back then. It worked so well that even though it was originally meant to be for 1 round only (hence the obviously silly humourous name, VD) the members of both alliances voted to make it permanent by an overwhelming majority and we became Vengeance (VGN).
I feel pretty confident in saying this is our best round ever, you'll get my usual end of round post in a few days or so but with well over 90% of all defence calls covered for the round as a whole I'm damn proud of all the members, new and old.

My experience with LDK was more than average, they were deffing all the calls I asked, even if that was zillion eta5 fleets. Sometimes they got cnutted for such zealousness, but most of the times my friends from LDK were covered.

Well, that is your opinion, but acording to our logs our members sendt fleets for defences 3557 times so far this round. We covered quite a few huge incomings as well. I dont know wich of our members you had in your galaxy, but we cleaned out deadbeats several times this round and several times we have told people who came asking for def for people that the actual planet in question was no longer a member of ours.
Anyhow, becoming a member in r10 will be much harder, and in front of r10 we will cut down to the bone and just keep the core of our active ones.

VGN was always crap from my experiences, there was never an active op, so my (inactive) VGN gal mate was constantly being cnutted.
I was surprised at ND's def this round, was better than I expected, I saw my gal mate last round go without def practically every day, but on the few times I got incs I got covered, except for a few days back when no-one noticed the incs.

NewDawn...
excellent defense this round.
And Lrytas... you should have stayed in p6.
Easy defense for you, with me, Basta, Eddy and Sinuhe (and DerBio before he got closed).

My gal sucked, couldnt get anyone to use irc and some barely posted in politics. :\ I tried but finally gave up. We just got into the top 250 today, hehe. Good thing is that we mostly only got a few planets attacked at a time. Due to the activity and nonalliances, the 1 or 2 gal attacks on us landed us in top owned.

Great bunch of guys and gals always getting def done..
tbh it helps that they have what i consider one of the best def bots in the dam game.. makes things so simple and easy to sort out.
well done all VGN crew!

I'm just amused that as a huge alliance, Wolfpack recieved no praise from you.

Well I had a mixture in my galaxy of the more well known alliance and ill try to give input.
Ely did a very good job defending, never had a problem covering.
We had a virus guy who was covered maybe 1/2 the time
ND was alright, could of been better 4-6 times uncovered
Eclipse well they were ok, I had expectations they would be like ely but there were about 3-4 times they couldnt help.

I sent three of my galmates to search for an alliance, recommended VGN, rock and IPC as they usually accept people, the two that went for VGN and rock didn't really play very active and a coule of weeks into the round I never heard from them again.
The guy that joined IPC has had his planet nicely covered everytime he's been attacked , and I've found the ops to be willing to help every time I've gone there to get him covered
IPC

My gal experience
RaH - quite decent, almost always covered.
NoS/HR - Def points are key, so one of the guys only had one and never really got def but since I had like 50 I'm covered pretty much always
IPC - never seen much except once which was overkill (like 14 def fleets on one attacker)
Tugas (do they count as alliance? ) - Very good, most of the time covered even though I know it's like 3am their time.

Guess this is basically my fault as I allowed the bot to have a bug not automatically opping the people who are command of VGN. However, system is designed any member can take and place the def call, so if there is really no op to contact, just ask in channel (bad security, but better than no def, after all)

_are_, coder of the bot in question

Alliance experiance
Well i gotta say Vengeance did realy good this round. I joind UV in r8 and was a member through all the changes (merging with BD and becoming VGN). I even became a recruiting officer. Defence is over 90% covered. People are allways in the good mood...sometimes bussy with rl stuff but allways there to help or assist in any possible way. Keep up the good work guys.

+1 vote for VGN. seems as long as you can contact them in time they will cover any defence.

I think i'd vote for VGN if I had any of them in my gal. But tbh they don't really belong among a list of small alliances. They don't demand vouches, but they are one of the best alliances this round.
I've had one Ety in my gal. He left... Same for a SH guy. I have two templars. They got defended very well as long as the eta was acceptable. No complaints there. Just one of them fell inactive (haven't seen him for a long while, dunno if he's still in). My own little alliance did pretty well too. Even early in the morning, as long as we had people on the public channel on netgamers...

People often se a security risk in this but frankly I think you should be able to keep your recruitment wing fairly seprate from your regular alliance structure. The in game alliance setup even makes that easier.

Can we get back on topic please??
I dont recognize ety as a small alliance, and they defended their members in my gal good..
But WP was a bit dissapointing as they we got a member who joined mid-round, and therefor didnt have enough points to get high priority defence =(

2 people has incs, 1 has been a member for a week with only 6 points (equivalent of 1 def) and the other has 130 points and has been a member for 2 rounds, which one would you cover?

Well, although FAnG can't be called a small alliance I've spent most of rnd7,8,9 and 9.5 in there and I've lost roids I think once during my time actively playing for them, none this round, might give you an Idea of why I liked it there?
Big props to Irvine, for sure the best DC I've had the honor to know

Deleted all stupid off-topic ldk-related posts. Can't you people restrain yourselves from this mindless flaming? This is a thread concerning the performance of the more commonly acknowledged less powerful alliances and those widely open to applicants. I'll thank you to remain on topic.

best smaller "non-known" alliance is definately Vengence.
i have a VGN officer in my gal, and from the numerous raids on my gal, the 2 VGN people usually got defended, while the rest either not being brave enough to post their alliance channels or how to contact others got raped repeatedly.
All i can say is well done to Vgn for their outstanding defense work this round.
my 2 gal mates certainly have appreciated it.

Only had 3 people apart from me that was in any alliance..Madcows were alright, but he was a DC so usually sorted it himself :P
Pack did what they were supposed to i guess...NoS always rock (he exiled himself to us later on)
Ok not very on-topic, but i really had no others to comment :P

Both of course. Even a small alliance has more than 1 def call at a time :-)
For defense points: I learnt they are necessary, but ours time out after 7 days, so you see who has been active last week only for def calls. This gives new people a fair chance to get defense and prevents from defense being drawn by inactives that had been active 2 months ago.

I just have to say VGN.
I have been in the alliance sins r7(was in BD befor we became VGN). But befor that i was in the alliance channel and i have known alot of them for some time now.
But the one thing that make Vgn stand out is ARE's effort on the def bot. I have been in alot of alliances. Some of them big some of them smal. But the best system for def and attacks in the pa univers . Is vgn's system that is mainly created by ARE. He deserv some recontion for he's work. He could have been selling that BOT system for alot of money. Yeah it's that great.
I will never leav VGN not cus of the def and attack system. But cus of the great community and the ppl there.

Vengeance
Well what can I say, my command team and all the members have made this possible.
We work hard to do our best for the members of our community and in return they work hard for us. The result is what you see here and in the Allaince Ranking. We have performed well and the forumla of Ultra Violence mixed with Black Death has truly become a force of Vengeance.
You have not seen the last of us, for we are the Warriors who Belive "It is better to die on your feet, than to live on your knees".
