The liverpool penalty was a bit iffy in my opinion and i think the ref regretted giving it (no cards) but it evened out his other decisions. If milan had kept their heads they could have come back but looked shell shocked. Fantastic to watch well done liverpool.

He didn't have to give a card. He wasn't obligated by the laws of the game to give a red, as Gerrard wasn't tackled by the last man, and he obviously wanted to keep the level of yellows to a minimum.

You have to keep it in perspective. While liverpool did the unthunkable itis still only a cup. the odds of repeating this feat are slim. their league performances have been poor. If Gerrard isn't going to be getting CL football (not to mention a tite challenge) every season then he may find it is in his best interest to leave anyway.

Oh right definitely, definitely agree that hargreaves isn't a good player. I can't imagine why I would have used the delayed action dive as a reason for why he's not good though.


I probably have excessively high standards as regards who I view as a good player though. For me that liverpool team has three good players, gerrard, xabi alonso and carragher. The rest of them might as well be dead or traffic cones (this obviously doesn't mean the others can't play well it's just that without those three they might struggle to beat birmingham).

For the record I think he's a good player because his passing is accurate, his positional play is excellent, he fits well into liverpool's attempt to play calm and collected football, he's mentally astute, doesn't get caught in possession and has great awareness. Counter-point with reference to factual information please.

Yep true, and i know this won't be too popular on here, but i wanted Milan to win just so the Liverpool fans finally shut up about the Champs League spot. The rules were in place at beginning of season and they knew them, they finished 5th so i hope they don't succeed in their appeal. Well over the course of the Premiership (history wise) we've been the most successful side by a mile. Alas, last 2 seasons we've finished 3rd and are nowhere near as good now as we were. But i don't agree with the living off of 1999 alone.

Yep we only have ourselves to blame for not winning the final. However we took you apart twice in the league, not counting the mickey mouse cup as that competition's juse a joke, which certainly made us the better side out of the two. Except this year we did what you used to do and dropped points against the poorer sides in the league.

Has Uefa actually said that they would allow it? Last i heard it would be very doubtful that uefa would allow it.

There's also the fact that there is a place laid aside for the CL winners, it's just Liverpool are barred from taking it up.

The whole thing only really makes sense in the context of the old 2 group stage format.

You mean won't be put forward? That seems to be the FA stance at the moment at least as according to them Everton have been put forward as the 4th English team but they're going to lobby for Liverpool to become the 5th side.
