Galaxy Status page suggestion

Not sure if this has been brought up before but how about on the gal status page...next to each inc, show the tick that it appeared. This way it would be easier to report incs when your under an ally attack with multiple incs. Would make reporting incs easier in general.

If people are online when the incs appear it's pretty easy to report them. Also the guy under attack can check his News and post in gal forum.

What you suggest is to make it easier for less active players, not sure it'd be going in the right direction.

Well most inc appear at night for most people so a lot of times it ends up being a couple people trying to report inc. Someone may come on in the middle of an attack and not know which ones are new and which ones are not.

And that's one of the benefits of attacking at night. There have been suggestions like this before - and each time I've concluded that activity needs to have some value, skill itself can't be everything.

Yes but this idea won't allow you to sleep all night. You still need to be up to see the inc and report it.

I'd say one of the current problems with the game is that it's too dependent on activity. DCs/HCs tend to get burnt out far too quickly and very few people want to replace them because it's such a time consuming job.

This is one of the suggestions which isn't too bad for skill versus activity. If your galaxy doesn't see the incoming fleets during the first 2 ticks, then reporting to the alliance (the first major defence point) is pointless. This would just make things more friendly for less experienced and more casual galaxies, they might have more of a chance of organising some last minute defence.

I would have to disagree with this, isn't the point of the game activity? If its not would be a purely spreadsheet game with little player interaction, which by my definition would be boring! I think we need to do things to further encourage players to be more interactive with one another, the activity side of the game is what makes PA fun imo.

So back on point of the thread, I don't think origional etas should be added to the gal page. Like already mentioned it would take out some of the advantage out of late night attacks, and an experianced in gal defender can ussually make a pretty good guess of the origional eta based on unit scans and the like. Lets leave the 'skill' part of the game alone please.

It's nothing about actually defending...more about reporting the incs properly. Someone shouldn't be screwed out of def just because another person wasn't sure if it was a new inc or not. It's more of a convenience thing then actually giving an advantage.

Someone who isn't online has all reasons to be screwed.
If there was nobody to report the incs when they appeared, there's a gal activity problem.
If people aren't sure when an inc appeared, there's a gal communication problem.

the game needs players,.... be them active or casual,.. it needs people to play the game.
If PA was only made up of the hardcore, u'd have 300 planets in total.

This addition, would help out all the other alliance not in the top 5.
Would help all the galaxies not in the top 10
would help all the planets not in the top 100

So, help the majority, or please the minority,...

I'm for it. Make's the game slightly more user freidnly for more people.

No need to play hardcore, you just need to organize your time and your gal. Most of the incs always come around the same hours.
Even if you fail to report your inc in time, you'll probably log in and save your ships in the 7 hours it takes for the fastest fleet to reach you. So basically you'll be losing roids which is exactly the purpose of the game. Unless you want a game where people initiate their roids and keep them all round long... a kind of Sim Planet...

You seem to be making this into a bigger deal than it is. I hardly doubt that by adding the reported tick time next to an inc, it will help save any substantial amount of roids. As I said, before it is more of an issue of making it easier for people who are already on to report incs.

Of course it will.

If I send 600 Terran BS at a planet ETA 9 and no-one sees it until ETA 7/8, then they don't know whether it's my BS fleet or DE fleet.



How will that not have an effect?

I don't think its a matter of not seeing for most people, just it takes more time right now to figure it out.

That's a whole different point...all I'm talking about is reporting them. Once they are reported, it's up to the DC to figure out whats being sent.

Not at all. To steal furball's example - one of the best anti DE fleets this round is the ingal Pillager fleet. This can be very safely sent if an inc appears eta 8 and will steal for free, therefore most often forcing a recall. However if that inc was to appear eta 9 a lot of ziks would be forced to think twice about sending Pillagers to face possible Dragons.

As I hope you'd know, being a HC and all, the DC may be good but isn't psychic. All they can do is go on the information they're given. If the galaxy can't tell the DC when the incoming appeared, the DC may decide it's too risky to cover the call if the only ship available is (for example - although this would only be in-gal) Pillagers.


Activity has to be rewarded somewhere along the line. Having one of the 15 players in your gal able to check for incoming each tick is vital, and not really that difficult in a decent galaxy.
