Re: Fascism Alive and Well in America
The architect is some kind of genius to get away with that in the US

your definition of genius rather differs from mine.
I also see nothing particularly special about it being done in the US: it being far easier done there than any european country.
I have to say i wouldn't be surprised to find that lots of buildings look like swastika's from above, nor do i imagine the architect intended to refer to national socialism.
you do have this tendancy to get overly excited.
I assume you stole this off another forum?

I find it amusing
You do not
You do take things rather too seriously sometimes Steven
Yes , its from another forum. I apologise profusely for reading websites other than GD and www.ft.com
Id take the last comment from someone capable of being excited, alas, thats not you.

That's pretty funny. Apparently it's a Navy SEAL base which was built in 1943 (not exactly the perfect timing to build a swastika shaped building, I wonder how they allowed it to be built?)

Re: Fascism Alive and Well in America
According to Wikipedia the building itself predates WWII.

Re: Fascism Alive and Well in America
Ron Burgundy: Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.
Veronica Corningstone: No, there's no way that's correct.
Ron Burgundy: I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.
Veronica Corningstone: Doesn't it mean Saint Diego?
Ron Burgundy: No. No.
Veronica Corningstone: No, that's - that's what it means. Really.
Ron Burgundy: Agree to disagree.
