Whats your idea of a "good night out"
I'll give mine first, although i will describe an alcohol night more than anything else, just to make things easier.
1. You and a number of friends meet in a pub/early opening club at around 8-9. If you wish so you can already be fairly drunk, no more than 3 or 4 pints of cider (white lightning \o/) or the equivalent. I see 3 or 4 as the ideal amount to 'build upon' in a night. In any case, proceedings develop, conversation is had, catching up is done. If the mood calls for it, reminiscence of nights of yore is had. This is the point of the night where you are likely to talk about abstract things such as particle physics that you don't really understand that well but are drunk enough to hold a conversation with whilst trying to look clever.
2. Some point later, around 10, you and your comrades move on to a club, by this point, people should have roughly 8 pints inside of them. Quite jolly, but still in enough control of faculties to be allowed entrance into a club. A good club would be one with a wide variety of people, and "heavy" rock music (adjust to taste). One of your party sallys forth to the bar and politely inquires what the cheapest way to get drunk that particular night is (or just looks at the offers) and a good time is had by all.
3. Around midnight, dancing can begin to ensue amongst all (rather than just those who have few inhibitions re: the subject in the first place). Possibly some light hearted moshing, who knows? However, a bond of epic proportions will have been built by that wondrous drug which is alcohol (or it should have been) and good spirits permeate the air.
4. Once the club closes, a kebab shop in the vicinity is found. Sparkling conversation and wit is thrown in the direction of the long suffering but noble purveyors of post midnight snacks.
5. Afterwards, people pile off to someones house (agreeable housemates being the leading factor in all this) and start to smoke weed instead of alcohol. It takes the edge of the night rather well, leading to good natured joshing and conversation of a wondrous quality.
6. At around 4, someone will pass out/express a wish to go home/throw up. This normally leads to a general splitting up of the jovial party, all going their separate ways until fate throws them together once more.
6. The next morning an agreeable but very hungover post mortem is had. The events of the previous night are discussed and light is made of the fun had. This is more important than most people think. I consider a night "good" if i can merely think about the occurences of it the next day and giggle like a schoolgirl.
Other random things that may happen are:
Get off with/pull a girl - always nice, sometimes hazardous, and often leading to the loss of stages 5-6 but giving other obvious benefits.
Have a fight - not so nice, but agreeable nonetheless, causing a pleasant stream of adrenaline to course through the system and creating a tighter spirit of camaraderie
Get thrown out of a club - probably the worst frequently occuring... occurence, not conducive to a good atmosphere of bonhomie as either someone is left alone, or others resent them for cutting their night short.
Anyway, if others would describe theirs, twould be nice. Although i must say my main reason for this thread was a desire to write something rather than anything else. Critique would be greatly appreciated, but i haven't proof read it or anything :/

Good nights out arent planned, aren't dictated by various parameters, they just happen that way.

Re: Whats your idea of a "good night out"
best nights:
meet up in pub about 6 for a quiet drink. (couple of pints)
quite a few people turn up including some you didn't realise were coming.
quiet drink turns into a small drinking session (about 5 pints)
people decide to go to a club on a whim
club plays decent music, has decent cheap drinks and is full of decent people.
lots of drunken antics happen and the next morning everyone has gossip about the night before
Pulling doesn't necessarily make the night better, especially if it's a munter or you end up getting the cold shoulder but wanting more.
UDI's (unidentified drinking injuries) are amusing
If a camera is there then the pics are always interesting
But the main things - lot of mates, lots of stories, nothing goes wrong.

Re: Whats your idea of a "good night out"
G&T at 4 while dressing.
Cocktail Party at 5 in black tie.
7:30 sherry before dinner at 8 (having changed into tails & white tie)
A lovely meal, women retire after pudding and snuff, cigars and cigarettes are passed around. Take desserts - a good sauterne and a decent port (madeira if anyone wants it)
coffee/brandy while the ladies return. go to ball/night club (cocktail dresses for ladies if nightclub)
collapse at five-ish.
I've not had a good night in too too long. goodness how sad.

Re: Whats your idea of a "good night out"
This is my perfect night out in Birmingham.
8pm get ready, listening to some music, 3s, shit, shower, shave, drink a couple of cans of lager
8:30pm Get picked up
8:45pm Go to star city casino, play some roulette, blackjack, drink free drinks and eat free food
10pm Go to the hotel room we have booked for the night, drink a bottle of bacardi
11pm Head to lloyds No 1 bar drink some sambuca and bacardi and coke
00:00 Go to bar risa or the works, drink and dance the night away
02:00/03:00 leave and get a kebab outside risa
03:30 go to spearmint rhino or the palace
05:00 leave the stripclub
06:00 passout in the hotel room or at home.
In canterbury
9pm go to the pub drink some pints of lager
10pm 3s
10:30pm drink a bottle of vodka/bcardi
11pm jump in the taxi
11pm-2am drink and dance the night away
3am end up at my place with a girl or her place, normally end up at my "gfs" place
5am pass out

Re: Whats your idea of a "good night out"
I'm not sure on an order, but the following is needed:
- Good friends, who are up for the same thing I am.
- A slight influx of unknowns, ideally an attractive interesting woman.
- Interesting, intelligent, funny conversation.
- Drinks (can include non-alcoholic)
- Good music.
- Plesant weather.
- Nothing too expensive.
- Good atmosphere.
- A decent place(s), can include peoples' houses.
1, 2, 3 and 8 being the most important.

Re: Whats your idea of a "good night out"
Depends entirely what I'm in the mood for. Most nights that I've enjoyed would bore me senseless if I had them when I was in a different frame of mind.
edit: strangers tagging along is almost never a good thing though.

Re: Whats your idea of a "good night out"
I do want to contribute to this thread properly, but the thing that makes it a good night out for me is when the night has a little something extra to make it great. A lot of nights are similar, but those with a little pezazz (perhaps an old friend came down, or you were at the optimal drunk-stage where everything is ace, or you met a really great girl, or you simply just felt exhilerated after dancing all night...) are the ones that truly stand out.

Re: Whats your idea of a "good night out"
I usually get drunk at good nights out. Hell, I only get drunk when I'm out. I always get drunk when I'm out. Except when I have to drive.
So yeah, getting drunk makes a good night out.

It's sad to say that for me a "good night out" means not ending up in The Garage* again.
I've lost faith in "drunken anticts".
"Going out" tends to bore the living shit out of me now.

Re: Whats your idea of a "good night out"
Honestly? I don't drink. Bars/Clubs bore me. You can't talk: the music is too loud. You can't dance: the music is awful. It's all just a little claustrophobic. I enjoy a night out when people aren't drunk; when my mates aren't off trying to pull the nearest female or trying to nut the nearest male. I would rather read a book than mop up after my flatmate who has just managed to urinate in (and beside) the sink.
I like interesting conversation. I like being with good friends. I like embarking upon totally random quests in a mate's car. I like good music, I like a good boogie. Alcohol messes this up, in my humble opinon.
Am I a bore?

Re: Whats your idea of a "good night out"
I have numerous different types of nights out, but I suppose an example could be...
Start the evening with maybe a few drinks with friends, perhaps at home. Get to the point where everything is nice and giddy but language is still possible. Then go out, drink some more along the journey. Meet up with people I know, perhaps at a pub. All trail off to go to a night club (one with good music and that I am a "regular" of sorts is preferred). Meet up with a bunch of people I know, say hi, get mini updates on their lives if they're interesting and/or pretty.
Maybe take a pill or two by about midnight, then dance / interact with others for a few hours. If it's a good night I will meet another new person who will be interesting. At this point I will feel awesome, tell others how awesome they are. Share ludicrously over the top proclamations of love with my girlfriend. Go back to her house nearby (helpfully avoiding night buses), and depending on how much drugs and/or booze consumed have sex (the violence involved at this point entirely depending on what substances have been consumed through the day).

If only it was that easy.
I have different groups of friends and it seems none of them like going to the same places as i.
I managed to get my way on Saturday night tho (just me and one mate) but that was like a first.

Why don't you just make sure you have some work clothes round her house, then you can get ready there and have longer in bed and sex with her when she wakes up? (Not that I'm a fan of morning sex, I like my sleep too much so I maximise time in bed asleep).

So let me get this straight. You included the words..."not"..."fan"..."of"..and "sex" in the same sentence?
Oh you crazy kids.
Morning sex is ace! Get's you set up for the day

It is ace, but generally makes me want to go back to sleep afterwards.

I could have said the sentence, "I'm not a fan of gay sex". Would you have called me crazy then?

Re: Whats your idea of a "good night out"
"a good night out" is per definition not in the UK, for several reasons such as:
- early closing times
- crap beers
- minging girls
- bad music

heh i so recognise this. some of my friends visit the same kidsclub for like 8 years now. and they all prefer some pub where the average age is is around 14. (+ the place is wayyyy too crowded and has shitty music).
every weekend i make up excuses for not joining them to random peasantclubs. sometimes i have no choice though.

Have never had such a delightful way of being woken up, will hire a hooker and a hotel room and I'll get back to you.
