Congrats! Hope youve either got lots of savings or kind parents to fund it all! Weddings are horribly expensive if you (she) want all the nice things. Be involved in the planning, loads of men arent and its really nice when they take an interest.

Yes its traditional, but that doesnt mean it always happens these days. More and more people are paying for themselves, and sadly this follows though to mean that fathers are starting to think it isnt their responsibility any more.

My mum and dad would never forgive me if I had something small where my dad didnt get to walk me down the aisle and also I want a cheesy disco and thats a good reason to have one.

When you're an only daughter your parents expect things of you. Admittedly, if theyre going to do that then they should contribute (which mine have offered to do).

Fortunately I drummed it into my Mothers head years ago that I was extremely unlikely to ever get married, and if I did it would be the Registry Office and then down the pub. Now she can't be disappointed :D
