Correct, the def xp is comparatively tiny compared to attack xp, and the XP has only dropped by a sixth for attacking, so the round will play the same.
Cat def seems a little stronger, but the rest not much more so and I cant see people playing defensively or for value this round.

You didn't bother to read the rest of the XP formula and think about it?

Re: Predictions Round 17
I dont think the losses will stop an attack round, if the player mentality is to attack and not defend.
If your entire fleet is battleships for example, you're always gonna land on that xan for XP.

Primary problem: Suicide loses you xp
Secondary problem: If you build a fleet composed of pure wyverns you will be fleetcaught by every zik in the game.
Incidental problem: You can no longer realistically fake a zik. This is how, at least, I did so well last round with such low value.

even if the XP is slightly changed the XP will own at start
its still much easier to attack than to defend, means activity means less and u dont need much skill to get the roids as alliances will be short on def fast.
each race has at least 2 weak points
having "halfreal" def ships just makes u focus on your attack fleet

Yes, of course. Unless you were to apply alternative ideas. If you don't apply alternative ideas, then XP will have almost no effect at all later in the round. Some players would prefer that, but I feel that XP has a place as rewarding players who do not give up and perform good attacks, rather than players who are just a def priority for an alliance which is good at defending...

Defence is very possible with the current statset. A single (or perhaps 2, early on) good fleet of scorpions will be able to stop the majority of FR fleets for instance. Anything more defensive would lead to stagnation and though it would probably reward activity (more than skill...), it would be pretty shit.
See round 10 and especially round 10.5 for sheer shitness. Whilst other rounds with the current setup have been far more interesting...
God round 10.5 was a piece of crap.

Activity as an xp whore got you higher rankings. Obviously xp was the way to go this round. Sending lots of defence fleets was not. Sending lots of defence fleets lots of times was a poor use of your high activity. See how it works!
Also nobody can outdrink an Irishman guys so please let's end this silly debate.

If there was a "World Cup of Drinking" Ireland would be like a combination of Brazil, Germany and the Harlem Globe Trotters. We would dominate forever, hence why it has never happened. Sometimes, in those sober few moments before noon, I cry silent tears at the shackling of my nation's manifest destiny.
I really, really do.

I buy beer the previous day to last me until the pubs reopen. One day I forgot though and it was so scary the pigment of my skin changed so that a rash mysteriously spelling out the words "holy shit we're sober guys" appeared all over me.

God round 10.5 was a piece of crap.
|
u miss the point m8
r14 was the last round where the stats were ok imho
r10 and 10.5 it was overpowered u could kill 10k fi with 5k same named fighter and getting a lot back from the salvage
stats become more and more attack orriantated and it hadnt change much.
terran u own with either CO or Fr no matter what they have home
terran BS and de own pretty much every race
cath u own with masses of 1 class but its still best defencevise race
cath fr own all races, in combination with few beetles even a terran
other races are more or less just weak agasint all
some1 sad after 400 ticks if you are top 10 value it takes at least 2 planets to make roiding you wirth. now u get owned to easy and i dont see much skill left. But as i already said before seems im getting to old (or to stubborn to chnage) for this game. well one round left to prove me better
and about ur point making the game more interesting. its jsut more intersting cause small alliances have now far more firepower than before.
did the small allainces ever complain before that they are to weak? no
but this only leads to active ppl puitting less effort into the game and alliances vailing ppl in order to win
you will easy win by having your ppl hidden in other alliances and getting them together at end of round
having ppl hidden or usind severeal tags will pretty much do the job and stats allow out of tag def pretty much anyway
lets wait till some1 uses this "strategy"

would be fun to drink with all u guys
but u take this to much competitive
i was in ireland they are really hard saw a girl drinking vodka through her nose to get pissed faster
the diference between the Eire way to drink and croatian is that thje Eire drink as fast as possible to get pissed
croats drink slower, also eat beside (eating is not cheating here) and try to stay as normal as possible. i have arround 200 L of Sljivovic its selfbrewed stuff arround 35-55 % at home in croatia. we live from own made Sljivovic and own made wine
dunno who would drink more but u are welcome to the next oktoberfest to join the fun

I was in Scotland with some guys from Lithuania, and I managed to survive all nights with them for some weeks, and never felt ill. But I guess it was close quite often .
Luxembourgish drinking culture > rest of central european drinking cultures...just go to any university in Germany/France/Belgium and visit the Luxembourgish guys for proof ;D.

I expect your expectations for VanX are a little high.
Tides of Fire a little low.

Re: Predictions Round 17

Please don't encourage him. I hear that young children no longer fear the boogeyman and instead check in case MotoX is under their beds at night.
Be afraid, little ones. Be very afraid.

Re: Predictions Round 17
JBG has a 100% record on round winners so you might want to reverse that

Re: Predictions Round 17
Desse probably had the most accurate prediction of round 16. His post originally said something like 'Ascendancy will disappoint by finishing ahead of F-crew', but I made him edit out Ascendancy as OMG NO ONE HAS HEARD OF US AND WE CAN'T POST ON AD UNTIL PEOPLE START ASKING or something equally lame.
