I am attending..........
.........the tenth funeral in my life this friday. And i've never seen a wedding or a christening. What about you? I think I might have just come along at a staggeringly unlucky time in family terms.

i've been to three funerals, one wedding, no christenings (although a dedication service, which isnt the same), and i think thats it.

Two of my grandparents are still alive but they aren't getting any younger :/

From what I can remember, 3 weddings, 4 funerals, 0 christenings (theres a film in there somewhere...) but there's a good chance I have missed a few out from when I was younger.

The only time I've attended a funeral was when I was five years old. I don't have much family as it is and most of it lives abroad anyway. No weddings, christenings etc either. Apart from my 'graduation' (local A-levels or something like it) in early June there's been zero family occasions in a while. (Jesus, I only just realised I could have an avatar. Maybe I should start doing the 'being active' thing again.)

I have only ever been to 1 funeral, my grandmothers about 8 years ago. Kind of weird as well as I have a huge family and my parents expected to have to go to loads of weddings but none.

2 weddings (first one last sept) 0 funerals - My mum wouldn't let me go to my grandad's as I was too hyperactive when I was young, and i couldn't go to my grandma's because she was Jewish and so have strange funerals within a day of passing away. Also didn't go to my friend's brother's funeral as I was too young.
My 2 grandparents remaining have always been pretty healthy, but recently it's been quite bad

I doubt you completely lack emotion. You just probably have difficulty expressing yourself emotionally to other people on a level both of you understand.
But yeah I've heard some fairly bizzare things said about people at funerals. The only really good eulogy, as in honest, I've heard was given by my mother about my great-aunt at her funeral a few years back. Unfortunately the catholic church has now got rid of this and only the priest speaks about the dead at their funerals so this can't happen anymore.

Admittedly I'm a bitter atheist but I found the Catholic priest's talk at my aunt's funeral completley offensive.
He kept going on about Jesus coming back from the dead. I mean...wtf? Talk about bad taste. If my girlfriend left me and I'm feeling pretty lonely & depressed about it the last thing I want to hear about is some other dude who screws four girls a night.
