[FOOTBALL]Club or Country?
Simple question, simple answer - post why if you feel you need to.

You can always change club, you can never change country.

Re: [FOOTBALL]Club or Country?
Tough one. Probably country, simply because I could have ended up supporting any club and just so happened to choose the one I did.

Re: [FOOTBALL]Club or Country?
I see it this way:
If Pompey went down i'd be upset for a long time
If England did badly I wouldn't really care too much

Re: [FOOTBALL]Club or Country?
Very hard when I have to think about it. I should say club easily but when it really matters I can get really emotional watching the Dutch side.

100% club.
2 weeks ago i was near crying when we lost the cupfinal with FC Twente. something like that never happened to me when holland lost. (although it did get me very sad/pissed off).

Re: [FOOTBALL]Club or Country?
i watch only international football merely because id like to see my country do well.
i dont hero worship them and i know bugger all about most of the players apart from their names. However i still want the nation to win.

Re: [FOOTBALL]Club or Country?
Club. Lokken summed it up really, when Wales/England do badly I feel bad but its nothing compared to the feeling of being relegated. I also don't think I'd feel as much if we won the world as I did when we when we won the playoffs last season.
Club is what you look out for week in week out, country is what you look out for every 2 years. Oh and people who change club suck.

Re: [FOOTBALL]Club or Country?
i take the "when my country plays bad im gutted but i get over it" thing but you forget there isnt such a thing as relegation in international football so you cant compare it
Are any man utd fans seriously going to claim that beat Munich in the final was better than '66?

Re: [FOOTBALL]Club or Country?
Its a hard one.
As a fan I thin club as Birmingham wil always have priority over England for me, but logically country should have priority. So while my head says club, I hink my heart being a proud briton is Country.

Winning the Premiership was and always will be the best day of my 'football life'. England could win the Euro Championships and the World Cup, it still wouldnt eclipse that wonderful day at Anfield.

Club, though this is possibly due to my confused racial heritage.

I can't really compare '99 to something before my birth, but I'd certainly say I felt worse after United lost various Champion's League quarter/semi final games than when England got booted out of Euro 96/the World Cup.

Re: [FOOTBALL]Club or Country?
I'd much sooner Derby won anything (unlikely I know) than England.
I'm surprised with your response Deffeh

Club
I wouldn't complain if I was at Arsenal. More emotions are involved.

Re: [FOOTBALL]Club or Country?
Country always. No matter how much I love Cardiff City I would see them relegated to the Conference if it meant Wales won the World Cup or even the Euro Championships. Nothing has been worse than seeing Wales lose to Romania in 94 then Russia last year.

This is a good point. I don't really about either (don't really follow a club) but supporting a club and a country seems to be two different experiences. Both are about some sort of unity, but that seems more so with country football.
If England won the world cup, you'd basically need to come onto the internet to find someone to mock. If Man Utd with the Champions League then I'm sure Man Utd fans would have a lot more people to lord it over.

Re: [FOOTBALL]Club or Country?
Club (even though we got relegated to the Conference !) first.
At least they made the effort to stay ahead and not make a complete feckin tossfecking mess of the game in the last 2 minutes, unlike my country's side.....
