Game encouraged cheating
Now let me begin with a note saying that this does not reflect the opinions of any one bar myself
I have to say that with the resent closing of some people i have come to know on irc i have to laugh at the response of the community. On so many points.
1. Most people in this game have encountered some form of cheating now wether they choose to turn the other way or report depends on the person so lets just say that cheating is inherent with this game.
2. The "Great Rounds" people love to chat about i.e r2 - r3 i would bet that near on 50% of planets were bots/multis now people still describe this as a great time.. why because there were planets to attack and as long as you got roids you didnt care if they were real or not.
3. The people who cheated on massive scale became famous for it (killmark and his bot army, LDk always accused, Dread and his support planets, Roman fortress) these people cheated to hell and became almost pillars of the community for it respected and held command posts or dictated ways in which the community moved.
4. The reason we have so much so called cheating is because its free, weve gone back to pre r5 status and tbh alot of people are enjoying it again,, why because there are planets out there,,, why are there planets because people cheat...
you say that cheating is bad for the game well maybe on morals it is but tbh this game is what it is and its legends all depend on those nutters that are prepared to run all these accounts..
now you say its against the rules well why not have bots run by pa team.. not for alliances or controlled to fight wars but to create a universe that is fun and where targets are actually available to all.
you say that cheating is bad for the game i say its made it to what it was and could be... wanna stop it then enhance the game but do it with control taken by the pa team
cheers for reading flame away

Cheating was only on a smaller scale r5-8 because there was less players( or less multi farm/scan planets) Imo, they was still he arbiter hack r5, top planet darki getting closed r6, account swapping r7 etc.

indeed so long as cheating does not affect ppls ability to enjoy the game it does not really matter except in extreem circumstances, I am willing to bet that most ppl in r3 had 2nd accounts, but in allot of cases this would have been mearly too add to the fun, I for one in r3 had a 2nd account in a very small gal on the account that my original was in a legion gal and hence little happened!! however in r9.5 we have alot less people playing so it does become a concern when ppl cheat as they become that much more powerful due to it, it is also alot more noticable, these extra accounts are no longer the syimple roid targets for anyone (including their own farmer ofc ) which they used too be they defend and escort attacks distorting all aspects of the game rather than just adding more roids to the game, which in these last rounds is sorely needed.
hence I would support Ur idea of pa crew run bot accounts except I expect they would be way too expencive

Officially allowing cheating to a certain scale would at least end this bigotry on AD. It would supply the universe with masses of "lesser watched" planets. It would maybe bring back fun. But if it would be good at all to PA as a whole, I cannot tell. It also would be a step backwards.

To address the complaint made to another mod about this thread being moved:
I moved it from AD, for the simple reason that it is not alliance-relevant (a passing reference to LDK does not constitute an alliance discussion). I hope this clears up any confusion.

UV was nearly split in two during R8 because of the decision to work with killmark and MDK. Many people were so against the idea of working with #1 cheat that it caused a hell of a lot of friction. I'd hardly call that a good thing to be honest and I'd hardly call anyone you mention a 'pillar of the community'. Personally I have a lot more respect for people like Rumad and XtotheZ than I do for the cheats. Actually, I probably have more respect for maggots than I do for the cheats but that's just me.
Still wub you though

If you want to play a game which allows cheats go right ahead and find that game, as Planetarion expects all its players to abide by the rules of the game.
Sure some people who made a name for themselves for cheating, but think about the name they made, branded a cheater, well known most certainly isnt a pillar of the community now is it
As for cheating has improved this game, sorry but thats just a pile of crap, forgive for saying so. Justify and rationalising behaviour which ruins everyone elses game again crap.
Frig it, your post was well written but your points where crap. I just cant be bothered to explain why as its so obvious.

This may be true that they are branded cheaters but not many people in the alliances seem to care.. they get a experienced and so called l33t players..that understand the game.
Now you said about a game were cheating is allowed now i didnt say this read what i said ... i stated that yes its happened before and now and tbh it has made the game what it has and it has filled a massive void that the original creators did not fill..
these cheaters gave us a much bigger and interesting universe than we would have had with the actual number of legal accounts.. what i said was that its about time the pa crew filled in the void that these cheaters had filled... make this universe bigger.... thats why people leave and dont come back they claim it will never be what it was in r3-4 well you know what.. r3-4 was great yeah because more people played but because we had the targets where we could once in a while get through with no def coming to their aid which is what every one loves .
also think about the game you created 24/7 now people arent awake 24/7 and often have lives so people shared to compensate for this aspect of the game.. now you could say that this allows people all over the world to play and have a chance to get attacks.. but you also created a game where people wanted to win and losing a roid is not a prospect people enjoyed so came about account sharing.. people wanna win the game created the need for them to cheat so they did it...
that was away from the original post but people will do what they can to win heh
now what i meant in the post was cheating made the game and the only way you will really maybe have a chance to eliminate this is to add bots and control them without political preference.... give us the universe people loved in r3-4

Stilll the point remains that (I bet) at minimum 50% of the players cheat(ed). And at minimum 70% of all those cheaters come here on AD with a "holier than thou" attitude while laughing their asses off at each one believing them that they never cheated.
Face it - PA never was and never will be a game for honest and fair people. Allowing to cheat would be friggin stupid but at least kind of "honest" towards the reality.

A. I've heard Dread accused of farming, but not having escort planets, maybe you're thinking of someone else? Additionally, look for one of his posts (check any flaming thread ) and look at some of the responses towards him, I don't think the community as a whole respects him (though I happen to like him).
B. How did Game (Roman Fortress) cheat on a massive scale? (Honest question, I hadn't heard about him cheating on the scale of killmark)
C. Killmark certainly isn't respected by the community.

I think hydridia was refering too game's roiding of other legion planets at the end of the round so as to try and keep his top position, he just was misremembering it for cheating.
and too all those going on about why is hydridia talking about legalising cheating he is not, he is mearly saying he wants a greater roid supply in the universe, and preferably one which anyone can get at

Just to back up what Iceaxe said, I can't remember any serious accusations against Dreadnought (Other than the farming one which was labelled against all of DTA in Round 7) he's actually one of the straightest player's I've ever played with. I'd guess the impression of him cheating comes from the flak he get's from his friends and planets named things like One of Dreadnought's Farms again by his friends. That's just his friends messing about I don't think any of us genuinely thinks he's cheated it's just funny making sure he gets no credit for his "achievements". Similar thing with Game (Roman Fortress), he's another player I've played with who in my experince was always appeared clean even in Round 3 I never heard any serious rumours of him cheating, although I think he took donations towards the end of Round 3 ? But it wasn't illegal to do that then. I think you should do a little research before you make accusations against people, in Planetarion words seem to stick. People like Killmark have never been pillars of the community whereas people like Game and Dreadnought have in a way so watch what you say.

A) they dont like the idea.
b)spinner isnt politically neutral thus he would use them to take down top alliances, something people wouldnt stand for.
a better solution would be to have say 50000 accounts which get given 100-200 roids a day thus giving the game a constant influx of roids making it a lot more fun for most.
players arent the route of the problem its the roid influx that is, when roids on medium players run out, they crush the smallest instead.
tho there wont be much need for this next round as growth will be a bit more even than it is now.

I wonder how much less cheating there would be if scans were free and always succeded?
Taking away one of the major incentives to cheat would probably stop people going down the slippery path that leads to mass-multiing.

People that think bot-planets run by the creators could be any sort of solution really aren't thinking it through.
Would they be mixed in galaxies with real people? Would they defend each other or simply always lose?
Most important, where is the fun in roiding a planet that isn't run by a real person?
Free unlimited scans for all planets would have been something worth trying (especially in this round when we started with res/con completed). But it's a bit late in the life of "old PA" to argue about these things at all.
