Sunday Afternoon
It's Sunday afternoon.
The Newcastle match is shite, the prize for the half time raffle was two tickets out of the stadium. Although Owen has just scored his first.
The golf is on BBC, but being the final of Matchplay, I'm now bored of watching Cambell and McGinley both play atrociously bad games of golf.
Australian Rugby is on Sky, as is some other football which I can't be arsed to watch.
Other Sky channels include E4, which is toss, Sky One, which seems to reject the existence of any show other than Futurama, Buffy and ST:TNG. Oh, and a channel dedicated to the wonderous word of the red button. Press Red to come inside...!
Come inside what? Last time I pressed red and came inside, I sat for an entire morning in the local shopping centre while my ex girlfriend done a pregnancy test in the public lavatories.
I'm bored of practicing on my guitar. I have a nasty cigarette burn on the tip of my left hand ring finger, which made learning Boston - More Than A Feeling more painful than actually listening to the song.
I've got a Cisco exam in two weeks time, but the thought of sitting playing with Telnet and learning the snoozful depths of IP would probably put me to sleep.
It's raining outside - which is somewhat of an obvious addition as I've only ever seen it rain once inside... that was at the Catatonia gig at Newcastle Universities Student union - seemingly the bass reverberating through the ceiling made the evaporated sweat come back down. Typically, I'd left my brolly at home that evening...
I'm bored.
The xBox is in the car. I can't be arsed to get it. Even then, the appeal of GTA:SA has drained away as it inevitably would and Forza Motorsport just doesn't have the depth of GT4.
I've got an entire Dark Elven army waiting to be painted, but I can't be bothered with the hassle of sorting my paints out. I don't even play Warhammer, but painting the models is somewhat satisfying. In a somewhat desperate attempt to prove to you that I don't play and simply enjoy the painting of models, I also have a 3' long model of the Bismark to paint, a 2' long model of the HMS Ark Royal to paint and both the Enterprise D and E from Star Trek, which looked cool hanging from the ceiling in Forbidden Planet, but seemed somewhat less appealing when delivered in thirty "for your own assembly" pieces.
My nearest cash machine is a ten minute walk. I could go get some money out, then go to the pub and sit for the rest of the day. Of course, I say sit for the rest of the day - I doubt my position would resemble sitting by 10:30pm this evening. But I can't be arsed to go out.
I'm bored. I'm caught in a vicious circle. I'm bored and I want to do something, but I've no motivation to do anything to relieve the boredom. Nor do I want to do anything mentally taxing, concentration requiring or frustrating.
So.
I want a game.
I'm thinking of something simple, along the 'Tycoon' series, which five year olds can complete with ease. Something which will occupy the creative centers of my brain without needing any concious effort to complete or progress. Something I can simply lie here and click buttons. With pretty graphics.
GD. Ideas.
Thanks.

A game where I can actually accomplish something without effort.
The only time in my life I've ever won a game that involved some form of cards was a game of Snap against my father three weeks ago, won purely by luck as I sneezed just as he placed a matching card.

Laptop is in the car, coupled with I'm reluctant to play that game any more. I'm currently on a nine game winning streak - any interaction with the program could end this streak

Re: Sunday Afternoon
Blackburn vs Newcastle is one of those games that should be called off in advanced as a crime against football.
Pretty similar to Blackburn vs Bolton the week beforehand.
And blackburn vs tottenham two weeks before that.
I'm beginning to see a pattern here

2 didn't really have any advantages over 1, you may not approve of the changes but at least it moved the series on.
