DVD players that play XVid, DivX, avi etc

I'm looking for a DVD player that will play the video files i have on my computer. I found an article about a Philips DVD player that seems to play everything but Amazon no longer stock it.

Has anyone got experience with these kind of DVD players and can recommend me one?

I was just looking at that actually.

It says it plays MPEG-4 and DivX. Will it play XVID, are they the same thing?

Im sure they are the same thing, one is commercial the other isnt or something like that.

My HDD/DVD recorder says the same and it plays XVID's fine. As CjC said DivX and Xvid are pretty much the same thing but ones commerical and the others not.

One thing though most such players will play standard Xvids (so the 350mb tv episodes of things like 24/lost ect ect) but they wont play the HR versions with AC3 audio (So the 700mb of the same series)
