Re: The Perfect PA Player
Surely he's gone insane due to lack of REM sleep or whatever? Is he taking any treatment to counteract the effects? Pretty ****ing cool though, I could so much more if my body didn't require a few hours of sleep every night

Re: The Perfect PA Player
I thought the body needs at bare minimum level 5 REM sleep - if the body doesn't have that, you're likely to suffer from decreased spatial ability, limiting neurotransmitter functioning amongst other things. If his organs aren't resting then isn't he effectively killing himself in the long run?

Re: The Perfect PA Player
I seem to remember a similar story about a mexican woman. One day she yawned and heard a pop, then didn't sleep for a bunch of years. Still needed to rest her body a few hours a day but never slept and felt fine.

sup SpaceMonkey!
Wikipedia says sleep deprevation is bad mmmmmkay, and i tend to agree. One day that guy is just going to drop down dead, like that korean guy who played StarCraft non-stop for 36 hours (or however long it was)

Re: The Perfect PA Player
What 1X said.
I do believe that sleep is quite essential, but some people have the ability to endure without sleep. I assume they must have some other mechanism going in their body that regulates the things that would normally only happen in a resting person. He surely though must require occasional periods of rest even if only sitting down for a few hours, it'd be a lot of stress on the body otherwise.
Personally I've only ever gone 2 days without sleep before I literally passed out for 24 hours.

I'd love to be able to do that but I imagine I would get bored after a while.

Re: The Perfect PA Player
i can function on about 2 hours of sleep a night for a week or so (although usually i'm in an EXTREMELY bad mood by the end), and 4 hours pretty much perpetually. no sleep, however, would kill me dead.

How long has he gone without sleep while being observed continually (eg under laboratory conditions)? Because yeah, I'm calling bullshit.

Re: The Perfect PA Player
On a sidenote, there are no matches for his name on either pubmed, citebase or Jstor, and a google search brings up only a handlful of dubious websites. So yeah, bullshit without a doubt.
