Serial ATA

Rightyho

I have an Asus a7n8x deluxe with support for both Raid and serial ATA

I also have 2 drives. but only one is important.

The WD 80gig 8mg cache Caviar drive

atm its connected the only way i know how to connect hard drives up (IDE).
however apparently i can connect it to the serial ata cabling if i knew how...

or have i heard bullshit?

and i shouldnt play around for fear of blowing myself up.

flikman can only hope to improve
Re: Serial ATA

If its connected up as an IDE drive, chances are its just an IDE drive. Im not aware of drives that support both SATA and IDE connections!

You'd need to buy a SATA drive to use SATA stuff.

Re: Serial ATA

if its connected up to IDE right now then it is an IDE drive, to connect an IDE drive to SATA connectors you need adapters.

In any case just leave it on the IDE, converting is not worth it
