multiple instances of iexplore.exe

Recently I find that every time I shut down my computer I need to force end several iexplore processes, even if I have closed all the internet explorers. So I've taken a look at the processes running when my computer is on, and I find several instances of iexplore.exe - I current have 5 of them even though I only have 2 internet explorer windows open. It's almost as if they don't terminate properly when I close them and leaves stray processes behind!! :smith:

Does anyone know what's going on?

PS I've already scanned for viruses online, but they didn't find anything...

Re: multiple instances of iexplore.exe

I don't think so, no.

oh yea, I've just discovered - those rogue iexplore.exe instances seem to "fade away" gradually - they're only using up 300K or ram now compared to 10M half an hour ago. What's going on? Shouldn't it just go away immediately after I close the window??
