Making animals extinct
I'm all for it.
Well, the dangerous ones anyway. Cute things like ducks and kittens can stay. But all too often we're supposed to feel guilty as a species about our ancestors hunting the shit out of various 'interesting' species of animals.
Personally i think this is one of our greater achievements as a race. I hate sharing the planet enough with bees and crocodiles. What would it be ****ing like with 12 foot kangaroos?
Here are some animals we cleansed god's earth of, or went extinct for various reasons:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deinotherium
A 15 foot elephant with fangs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinofelis
A baboon killing sabre tooth lion
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procoptodon
10 foot 500 pound kangaroo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigantopithecus
3 metre tall brian blessed
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glyptodon
2 ton tortoise
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megalodon
16 meter 30 ton shark
Theres obviously more but these are a selection of some of the animals i would not be happy living in a world with. Given that the world will come to a hilarious end some time in the next 300 years or so anyway due to human idiocy; i suggest that destroying entire eco systems is a small price to pay for not having to put up with the existence of several animals ever again. Maybe then for example i might be able to visit Australia (without crocodiles and snakes), walk the Apalachian trail in America (without being mauled by a bear) or Africa (without disease carrying mosquitos and other bugs). Oh wait scrap that last one i dont care about Africa or want to go there, its shit.

i wouldn't miss ginger people but that's hardly a justification for genocide or murdering nod and koen
Edit: of course i acknowledge that there are despite this perfectly good justifications for murdering nod and /or koen

i reckon the massive kangaroo would be hilarious, if they could be trained and harnessed, it would be awesome.

Re: Making animals extinct
Let's get rid of dogs first. they pose a clear and present danger to standards of living all around the world. Once they are gone then we can all work together to make Deffeh's holidays slightly less annoying.

Re: Making animals extinct
Animals like orangutans and gibbons and lemurs are nearing extinction though and they're
The zoo in Jersey (founded by Gerald Durrell) only has animals in that are close to extinction.
I think that you're giving an incredibly egocentric viewpoint if you believe that species/creatures should only exist if you approve of it and enjoy sharing your earth with them. If a mangy dog is in the street and you don't appreciate the smell it's giving off, do you kick it into the gutter until it's dead?

And risk scuffing my newly polished shoes? Of course not!
I get a man servant to walk down the street beating said mutts to death with a specialised cane, another to dispose of the corpse and a third to spray cologne around the area before I will even consider walking down a street.
the same goes for small urchins.

In other news, I would really like a smilie with a top hat and if possible, a cane.

I would vote in favor of the extinction of mosquitos, fleas, ticks and chiggers.

Re: Making animals extinct
Question 2 should actually just be repeated for their entire FAQ.
I quite like ridiculously huge and dangerous animals. I don't particularly feel the need to go walking across a river filled with crocodiles or anything, that's what we have (had!) people like Steve Irwin for. I wouldn't miss insects in any intrinsic way but I guess I'm opposed to their widespread extermination due to my love of nature and hope that human beings live beyond the next hundred years.

Q: Are you really serious?
We're really vehement.
Please say that's some serious post-irony there and I'm not just imagining things.

Re: Making animals extinct
The earth in its entirety balances itself. Anyone that has taken a post High-School college course on environmental science would know this. Then you would also know that killing off one thing would cause an influx of another thing, that may not have been a problem in moderated numbers, but without any limitations, now become a problem. Like people who kill jumping spiders might as well open a jar of insects right in their bedroom.
Its easy not to apply critical thinking to life though, when a problem is not viewable to arise in the near future. This, one would/should have learned in Psychology 101.

Re: Making animals extinct
On a similar note, I've recently caught myself wanting to see what happens when we let the greenhouse effect take it's course (not just a tribute to XKCD). Arguably, Mother Nature has overcome worse disasters. Turn on thy radiator and open thy windows!
Another similar note.

So he gave them the coy little wave and realized it probably would have been more effective if he hadn't been lying on their turkey.

You do realise that 'Mother Nature' isn't actually a living creature, so by definition it cannot 'overcome' anything?
