[img] in message from commanders
On the in-game politics page the GC and ministers can edit the Message from commanders. Some basic markup is yet available: [b], [colour=white]text[/colour], etc..
Can [img]url[/img] be added?
It would be nice to be able to put images there!
And maybe implement it for the galaxy forum as well?
cheers!

Re: [img] in message from commanders
My idea is to put an image with live galaxy statistics there
A graph showing rankings/growth in the last 24 ticks.
Who knows what things people come up with. I think this would be a nice use of it, and I cannot come up with a reason not to add it.

Re: [img] in message from commanders
Seeing as such script derived images are banned from being used as galaxy images they would be banned from such use also.

Re: [img] in message from commanders
In addition it would create one more spot that PA team has to monitor for inappropriate content. Interesting idea about the history information though, might be worth adding the gal history info somewhere for people to look at.

Re: [img] in message from commanders
I'd rather see [url] implemented. Obviously there are problems with doing so such as innappropriate content, but that = closure.

Re: [img] in message from commanders
I think that instead maybe PA could hardcode galstatistics the same way the do with planet statistics? That way we save the multihunters/admins from having to look through every img that people will add to thoose messages.

never thought i'd agree with kargool but that would be the best solution to this specific problem rather then allowing img tags which as mentioned above add another thing for the admins to monitor for content.
they already have the logging data needed - from each planet's history. All they need to is add it all up and pass it to the graphing system.

Re: [img] in message from commanders
Ok, to wrap this up:
1. adding [ img ] tags is not a very viable idea, as it would require time-consuming moderation
2. adding [ url ] tags could be added instead; it would not need moderation. can it be implemented?
3. hard-coded galaxy statistics would be nice. possibly in a graph or just a table.

Re: [img] in message from commanders
the url tags would still need moderation - in essence they already exist but can only be used on the motd

Re: [img] in message from commanders
hmm... maybe ass a button like "report abuse" and allow [img]'s ?
So when people see inappropriate imgs they have an option to report those who shall abuse it and get him banned ? That would be pretty much as much of an incentive against abuse of [IMG] as any kind of moderation.
considering it will be used stricktly in person to person communiques, its not like setting up a gal banner full of porn. Limited viewing of that [img] will, kinda, moderate itself via people who recieve it. Just make sure u give them the tools for it. (Basically, as i said before, big red "report abuse" button)

No, because the entire point of moderation is to stop our younger players from viewing the images. Once they have seen them, the damage is done. And since the image would be on the overview (the page that loads up straight after login), this just wouldn't be possible.

Re: [img] in message from commanders
I agree - then it's already too late.
But why would [ url ] tags need to be moderated?
It is already possible to insert unclickable url's as plain text. It would only make things (much) easier when url tags are added so we can just click?

Unfortunatly it's not a risk that Jolt, as an upstanding company, would be willing to take. They have duties, etc, and if someone's parents complained then it'd cost them a lot of money in legal fees to sort it out. PA doesn't make them enough of a profit for them to not care about those potential legal costs.
