Humour? My point is more than personal messages from any admin, can go in the forums - not on MOTD. I'm unsure where humour comes into this?

I do not think that anyone will get free asteroids, but someone will think that and besides I don't think any admin should be putting a mesage on MOTD that claims to be able to give out free asteroids (regardless whether they can or not).

But I've just come home from work ill for the afternoon. I tried to go in this morning and that was a mistake. I guess my boss would be upset if I went down to a gig in London when I was taking time off for recovery.

But Thex... what about the times when we've put personal messages up for marriages or births and stuff like that? And besides, the wording of the mesasage says nothing about giving free roids, I was just asking if there was anyone who WANTED them and who HAD a ticket for tonight!

He stated it was unprofessional and it is, make no mistake. It is however your choice.

Personally I couldnt care less what random is getting married or having a child. If I knew them well enough to care they would be congratulated by me personally, if I dont know them it is simply rubbish clogging up the MOTD which makes me less likely to read it when you put something useful up.

If you put too much crap in the MOTD you risk trivialising is as a useful information source. People will get sick of all the rubbish and stop reading it. Crying wolf etc.

I do generally try and prune the MOTD, but then people complain things are missing so more bits get added. I know that we tend to put a lot of information in there, but some people don't read it anyway tbh.

Where is the comedy/humour in that MOTD message?

My question was about if that MOTD message was professional or not - especially as it appeared to offer free roids. My personal opinion is that you should not use your customers as a base for personal gain. I personally wouldn't attach a message at the bottom of each email I send to my customers asking for tickets to a concert in exchange for free IT support.

Also as the topic had a ? I was asking if others thought the same, I appear to be in the minority. Which is fine and I'll ignore these in future. I personally don't like having to scroll down a large MOTD to see what the Ministers message. I would prefer for the MOTD to contain up to date info regularly pruned that is relevant to PA.

As noted messages like this should go in the forums not on the game (again IMHO - the ? allowing for others to disagree and me to accept the majority view).

Actually if someone had posted a joke I'd would not have complained (I have a liberal mind). However no doubt someone somewhere would have as it would have offended them on some level in today's society.

Thex... I can see where you're coming from... but the one thing that sticks in my mind is that you're picking the most harmless event to complain about. 1 admin having a little bit of fun is harmless, and I really don't think that making a joke about free roids for concert tickets is going to deter anyone from playing... I'm quite certain I will not see a quit thread about how kloopy ruined the person's PA life by mentioning coldplay in the MOTD. (And dude... it's like 2 extra lines. Are you that uptight that you're annoyed by two extra lines in the motd? )
