Puzzle
So, yes, I blatantly stole this from SA. Sue me, but think that without people bringing you content featured at other forums, you might miss out on some wonderful stuff!
http://crux.baker.edu/cdavis09/roses.html
It's quite an amusing puzzle, which will either keep you occupied for a good while, or which you will have solved in under a minute. According to the story, the smarter you are, the longer it will take you to solve. I must be pretty stupid, because I got it very quickly
Anyway, I thought I'd share!

Re: Puzzle
Took me two tries, I'm dubious as to the validity of this being an indication of IQ
Actually, it's closer to being a test of creativity, which has no correlation with intelligence at all.

See, I missed that thread.
We need some sort of link-checking system here. Or I should use the search function in the future

Re: Puzzle
Clicked 'check' about 5 times got bored and cheated. The question itself is misleading it asks about the number of petals around the rose (singular). Its answers can relate to the number of petals on up to five distinct roses being summed as if to indicate the number of petals around a singular.

Took me 10 minutes. Would have been much harder without all the little hints though.

Re: Puzzle
I didn't get it, after about 15 minutes of fiddling around. I gave it to my sister though, and she got it after 5 minutes or so...

I have got it finally, after drinking a fair few glasses of wine.
Obviously it increases my intellectual capacity.

Re: Puzzle
So are you guys still occupied by the hack.net thing?
I am ashamed to tell I can give the number sequence on /two in less than 2 secs, by heart. I have done more permutations then the average kabbalist does in a year and I have used coded recources for permutations, decrypting, anagrams, letter values in different languages and unicodes, and yet, the creator of the puzzle tells us it´s simple, and it ´should pop right up´.
I´m going to off myself if I don´t find the answer within two years. Nearing the end of that time, I will be a freaked out hermit babbling fibonacci ranges and writing binary sequences on the walls of any place I visit anyway.

Re: Puzzle
The internet has made me too sceptical
I thought it was a simplistic version of Mornington Crescent so I closed the window after about 15 rolls thinking I understood it, then realised how unlikely a conspiracy that large scale would be so went back a few hours later and got it almost immediately
