The official 'Chocolate bars are not as big as they used to be' Thread
I dont know about you but when I was a lad Wagon Wheels were as big as real wagon wheels. Now they are more like a digestive biscuit! Which incidentally, used to be bigger than the 2 mouthfuls they are now.

Its a law of nature.
Good chocolates shrink, and cost more.

Its because your hands, mouth, and any other bodily partsyou compare the size of chocolate to have grown, whereas the chocolate hasn't.
Or its a global conspiracy involving willy wonka, and assorted other chocolate makers. Take your pick.

When you have a choice like this, you MUST go for the conspiracy.
They are so much more fun!
Oh, and it is a conspiracy. I know. "They" told me.

Not chocolate but I remember things like Wham! bars used to be huge. Chewy too. Now (if indeed you can still get them) they're just tiny crunchy and crap.
And I swear Chewits have got smaller too (or less of them).

Not true, the actual net weight is down on the wrappers too.

Steven Jay Gould actually wrote an article about this in one of his regular essays. There's a whole statistical analysis that can be done about the size of Hershies apparently.

Its the nature of chocolate bars. They become cheaper and cheaper (in real terms, ie the price stays the same for a while) and smaller and smaller, then when they reach a small enough size, the company sends out the "newer bigger" more expensive version and the cycle starts anew.

Yorkies where shrunk for a while, and that can be proven
They used to spell Y O R K I E across the blocks. They lopped one off and simply wrote yorkie across each block
I dunno if its back to normal

Possibly the most tragic marketing effort was Mars trying to palm of Snickers without the nougat for the same price - some limited edition nonse. *Surprisingly* that strategy collapsed a few weeks later.
