Shipstats
Targeting-speed, Movement-speed and Shields...
The first one was called WPSP I beliive...
The second one used to be called Agility..
They work opposite of eachother, ofc.
The third one can be a damage-preventer, or a kind of immunity-factor:
Lets say a ship delivered 5 in damage per shot. A ship with 5 in Shields, can not be harmed by ships with 5 or less in damage.
This would bring about special Shield-vessels too, that could provide shields for other ships.
And certain ships could be equipped with shield-disruptors, to negate the effect.
EMP-ships might be effective against shields, but would be prevented from freezing the ship?

I like the idea of shields - with the idea of total shield tally for the ships before damage I.E. ship losses are incurred.

I have a suggestion too: save your suggestions for your own game, rather than prop up the carcass we're dealing with here.
The current stats system has 5 distinct races with 11-13 ships each, which are completely overhauled every round. The last thing we need is more variables. It would be a different matter if there were overlap between the races and they weren't redone from scratch every single round.
If not for that, though, I like both the idea of wpsp/agil and shields, though I'd say they could perhaps replace the targetting system, rather than be added to them.

WPSP / Agility / Ships would replace the Pri / Sec / Ter targets ofc..They will no longer be needed....Provided the pilots have half a brain, they would go for whichever targets they can do the most damage against...

I once suggested something similar. The target system needs to be overhauled. The feedback from Appocomaster was "I don't like it, it would need too much stuff changed". That's what all suggestions await.

The one thing I had suggested a while back, but is impossible with the current combat engine - is to allow ships multiple types of targeting (example: Spider T1 EMP, T2 Normal, etc).
It would depend on the stat set that used them, of course, but it would bring somewhat of a variant to how things are now.
The WPSP & Agility, as described here, would most likely require a total overhaul of the combat engine to even THINK about being able to use it. Let alone the predictability that would be necessary for "new players" to understand it (since most things are changed now a days to benefit that small group).
