aol/google
Ok, sorry, a link thread.
I just read this article:
http://technology.guardian.co.uk/onl...859785,00.html
Now this is the kind of thing people have been warning about for quite a long time.
But actually publishing everyones searches is amazingly worrying. Can you imagine what your record shows about you? (looking at dace)

The logs are at http://www.aolstalker.com/ if anyone wants a look, it's quite slow to load though.

Re: aol/google
I'd actually quite like to see a log like that for my searches over the past few months.

Re: aol/google
for future reference theres nothing wrong with gay midget porn don't judge!
i can see those databases being used in the future by historians to keep an 'etrack' of someones life. The blogs/emails/searches could all be cross referenced with IP and alexa to follow the online life of a particular person.
If we're honest everyone has done many depraved and dark searches, i don't really see why anyones searches would be that much worse than someone elses.

Re: aol/google
Yeah nothing private about the internet unless you're encrypting your shit. Employers can not tell from which computer a thread about drugs was made and who owned that computer. Pretty silly to think that they're going to go around and identify all the shady characters online, would take quite a long time. Imagine you're the Human Resources manager for Pepsi Inc and you stumbled onto GD and don't like what you see, how likely is it that:
A) Somebody on GD works with Pepsi Inc,
B)That the various countries & states from which we and the forum all originate have laws that allow companies to force both the online forum, and then your ISP to turn over personal information about their accounts.
C)That a company would go around and figure if every other ****ing idiot on the web works for them
They're just not going to waste their resources for such a futile endeavor. Law enforcement however could stumble on a thread about drugs, determine there is probable cause or enough of a worry to get a judge to write a warrant that forces your ISP to turn over your personal information (if they were so lucky to get your IP from the online site in the first place) which could lead to a criminal record which could affect employment at a later time.
It is all very unlikely anyhow. At least for now it is.

Oh really. You think every other random internet jerkoff has a 'profile' with some mysterious internet monitoring company...

That is so idiotic it is ridiculous. I can see when people try to figure out who high profile blogging personalities are, but what you are suggesting is nonesense.
Edit: whatever mod edited this comment can suck my big long hairy cock. Is that tolerated? Oh you're so clever you can see deleted posts. So clever, you ****wit. (Marv apparently, who ever the hell that is)
Also, Rmihyn deleted the post I partially quoted in which he also said that everyone in GD smells like wee and that he has sexual thoughts about his siblings.

I think the wife of AOL user 14162375 should really be the one worrying.

Re: aol/google
Ramihyn I'm quite interested in what you posted orginally, are you saying that there's a company out there searching through forums, search engines and IRC records and grouping them all together to create profiles of each of us ? This is very Big Brotherish, do you have any evidence of this or any links to the comapny that is doing it or are you just saying it's something that could happen ?
