"Lad's mags" on the top shelf?
You know your politicians have too much time on their hands when they start trying to rearrange the shelves in your newsagents. The BBC has a typically imparital article on this.
So far as I'm concerned if it's classified as porn then it should be subject to the restrictions governing it. If it isn't, then it shouldn't. The rest is down to parents, and trying to legislate as an alternative is stupid.

Re: "Lad's mags" on the top shelf?
Personally i think it's quite hypocritical. "Lads mags are to blame" ... **** off! I'm so angry* i can't form a coherent argument (i've tried to type this in a proper paragraph format but didn't get very far) but i shall attempt to bullet point:
* Woman's Mag's
* Woman's magazines obsession with body image
* Woman's magazines are all about sex too
* How the **** is having some girl with her tits out "sexually explicit"
*not really i'm just tired and lazy

PS I don't read lad mags (maybe once or twice a year in work if there's nothing else about)

Re: "Lad's mags" on the top shelf?
I suppose you can make an argument that a lot of sex IS about "objectification" and dominance etc. I've read some articles in Nuts and Zoo that have made me frown a little, i remember one around 4 months ago with Jessica Alba where if it wasnt actually an interview, they probably would have been done for sexual harrassment. They were all "wow! you have nice breasts" and she was all "im not really into getting my kit off but i dont have much choice right now" and they kept pestering her to say something sexy. Eventually she says "most of the movie scripts i get sent have lined like water streams down her naked perky breasts, and i chuck them in the bin because i wouldnt do that type of crap."
So, "water streams down her naked perky breasts" was the hook and big headline for the article.
However;
I dont have much sympathy for women in general because the gender imbalance is clearly in the womens favour nowadays

Re: "Lad's mags" on the top shelf?
Seeing as most lad mags are full of adverts anyway, I can't see the big problem with sticking them somewhere where we won't have to see them

The best I saw was a comment on the article:
Quote:
Can't you do the same for womens magazines! Womens magazines degrade women further by making them feel awful about their weight, clothes, cellulite and the fact they are not glamorous footballers/movie stars wifes. Nuts is childish I agree but Heat and closer are soul destroying bitchy publications. What's worse?

In my eyes Nuts and Zoo are decent light entertainment for a long journey. There's some boobs, there's some football, there's some cars. It fits comfortable into the 'win' category in comparison to picking up The Sun, the Mirror or the Daily Hate (Mail).

If your mum cleaned your trousers for you maybe you wouldnt turn to communism
I was talking about sex laws, divorce laws, representation in the media, expectancy levels in all areas, and general ease of life.

Re: "Lad's mags" on the top shelf?
Nobody seems to care about magazines like Gay Times, which regularly feature semi-naked men on their front cover and generally have articles about gay sex in them, which are much more explicit than anything you'd see in Nuts, and often have pictures of naked men in them. Are these somehow different to 'lads' mags?

I think people should have their clothes glued to them. Nudity has gone unchecked for far too long

i see no virtue in nudity.
it is always so much more disapointing than semi-naked.
