Having spent the last hour or so trawling the internet in search of an answer, I now come to you, the good folks of GD, for help.

Basically, does anyone remember a cartoon that used to be shown on ITV in the morning during the school holidays about police in a city set in the future (and no, it isn't Galaxy Rangers) around the late 80s or early 90s? It's been bugging me for ages.

'twas definitely not the Jetsons. It was set on Earth in a vaguely though not too futuristic city. Wasn't Japanese anime style, just your normal western (I'm pretty certain it was American) animation of the late 80s early 90s. And I can't remember any characters really no, certainly not any names. I think there was some form of police captain or commissioner. The bad guy was your typical underworld type gangster boss.

hmm, did al the people on the police force have a special "power/role" etc.? like the..inspector or whatever, who was called "bulletproof" and who was (shock horror) bulletproof?

I liked the bad guy who had tommy guns that popped out of his torso, or the main bad guy .... I still to this day will now and again say "N'yeah see" and I'd half forgotten why that was

Even for the mainstream animation of it's day - which was itself plunging new depths of direness - it was a plotless, badly written, unendearing piece of garbage.

Neither did they, mostly. They usually got royally ****ed if I recall, and ended up bound together and only managed to escape through pure happenstance. They caught the baddie about half of the time. Sharky was a particular liability, and was almost certainly an alcoholic.
