"You need to buy Opera to turn off the startup dialogue and the banner"
The best thing about Opera is that it was free.

Ah, but the startup dialog allows you to do things such as "Opening with a presaved set of tabs" and "continuing from where you left off last time", so clicking 'ok' on the dialog is still a lot faster than manually opening your favourite websites in new tabs, like you have to do in mozilla/phoenix. It also starts up a lot faster than mozila/pheonix, and the banner isnt that intrusive anyway!

Ah, but the 2 minutes it will take to download Opera will be more than made up for by the time you will save while taking advantage of Opera's incredibly speed as it downloads pages faster than any other browser currently available!

Mouse gestures are useless. It's easy enough to block popups if you really want to.

Ah, but why should you have to run a 3rd party program when popup blocking is quite obviously a feature which should be implemented by a web browser?

Ah, but thats the beauty of it! If you dont want them, you dont have to use them - you can simply turn them off using Opera's clean and logical preference menu, which makes it easy to customise your browser to suit your ever-changing needs! Besides, youre obviously mistaking "mouse gestures" for something else, as they are clearly not "useless" but are in fact one of many exciting features which a superior browser such as opera brings to you, the user, free of charge!

Nod uses it, therefore its only for **** by default.
Its the TPE of Browsers. Thinks its much better than every other browser , but nobody except a select few know it exists and can be bothered to use it.

Ah, but the reason only a select few use it is because the majority of people seem to be neophobes when it comes to browsers, and dont want to take the plunge and switch to something far superior, such as Opera 7! I feel it is my duty to bring news regarding the fantastic project that is Opera 7 to you, the people.

Ah, but the reason I use it is actually because it is far superior to all rival browsers, and has raised the proverbial 'benchmark' by several meters leaving lesser browsers such as IE, pheonix and mozilla trailing in its wake!

Opera 7 is nice. Although I was unconvinced by the blueness and general XP-default-theme feel at first. Now I can't get enough.
And I can "Delete Private Data" in one go and erase my porn viewings in one easy go!

Ah, but youve inadvertently alerted neophobic luddites such as Rids to yet another excellent feature that Opera 7 gives to the discerning tech-savvy user! If you are not fully satisfied with how your webbrowser looks, you have the opportunity to download new styles until you find one you like, or even create your own! If sex could be digitised and represented as a stream of 0 and 1's, the resulting pattern may well bear a strong resemblance to the machine code for Opera 7!

The mouse gestures are the only things I'm using Opera for at the minute, they rock somewhat.
That it until I create some form of IE plugin.
Which isn't likely.

From the CSS-Discuss mail list, word is it has exstensive CSS2 support, which is nice. I may download it tomorrow. Then at least I'll have a choice between IE6, Moziall 1.2.1 and Opera7.
Or I could install a Linux distro and have access to a load more as well/instead.

Ah, but from the tone of your post you obviously havent taken the time to download this fantastic new product and see for yourself! If you were to do so, you would find that as well as loading pages FAR faster than IE (which is noticeable even on a 10meg connection), Opera also offers features such as tabbing, multiple document interface, popup blocking, better standards compliance, mouse gestures, password management, look and feel customisation, skinning, user profiles, and an allround cleaner interface! After using Opera 7 for a week, you will look back in amazement and wonder how you managed to get by for so long using a browser that does not even support such basic features as tabs. If youre a mozilla or pheonix user, youll also notice that Opera supports autoscroll (pressing the middle mouse button and then moving the mouse up/down to scroll the page), which was a major omission in those 2 browsers.
As well as this, it also has a clever feature where it starts downloading files the second it shows you the dialog asking where you want to save them, saving valuable seconds of download time! If youre on a fast connection, the file will often be fully downloaded by the time youve decided which folder to save it in!
But dont take my word for it - try it yourself!

Mouse gestures are very useful, and it renders so much faster than IE as to be 'ace'.
Though I haven't orgasmed yet. It doesn't 'do' that.

Its worth using for the page loading speed, the quick download feature, and the user interface alone. Browsers without tabs are archaic and its pretty disgraceful that they still exist and are widely used, but you can get tabbed versions of IE, although none I've seen so far are implemented as well as the ones in opera/mozilla.
I honestly cant understand why anyone would still use IE, aside from the quick startup speed due to it being integrated into the OS. Even if you want to stick with IE, you should at least use something like avant browser or crazy browser instead of the vanilla version.

Opera is an extremely good browser. However, until I can afford to get rid of the nasty banner by registering I shall have to stick with mozilla.
The banner spoils it but it is far too good a product to do naughty things to.
