Im intrigued, multiple targetting for certain ships...ie bring back T3?

Would that then mean that we would get a repeat of certain rounds where you just build enough of one fleet type and that is it. IMO the way it is at the moment is half decent as you have to build a full fleet.

And for godsake, please, please, please bring in people like jester and sid in to sort the stats out. You guys do a good job but jester knows his stats.

Appocco has done two fairly balanced sets of stats imo. Jester got the short end of the sick having to reintroduce stealing for the first time, but apart from zik being a bit too good he made a decent set aswell.

this round is far from balanced imo, last round was quite unbalanced as well. Im not saying they are bad, I couldnt do much better, however what you need is a small group of people who know there shit ie sid, jester and a few others. Instead of listening to the players and changing the stats last minute, do private testing and work out what the possibilities can be. The only thing imo thats worse than blocks and bashing is unbalanced stats.

Yes, I know this round wasn't great stats wise. I can't see how you can complain about last round's stats though, they ended up being pretty even across the board.

Given that the ratio of planets of each race was not fairly similar, isn't this an erroneous way of measuring balance?

There's more than average Terran planets overall because new players sign up as them. I think the actual ratios were closer - either way, the fact there were lots of representatives from all races shows that they could all complete.

Is there a better way of measuring the success of balance? Short of grading all planets in terms of skill and activity and using that to rank the races...

no offence really :S but that wasn't down to stats :P that was down to people being safe in certain allies/gals mostly regardless of their race... which is same as why some terrans might grow big now aswell

Yes, there's a better way. It relies on looking at many different factors, throughout the round, including the final rankings.

I (half-seriously) offered to do them, but someone said NDA, so I passed.

And the r13 stats had plenty of flaws, though I'm pretty sure they would've been better if I'd finalized them 2-3 days earlier. It wasn't broke, but I tried to fix it etc

tbh ive been in a few betas and what striked me about the beta you were running was that you tested and tested. You listened to testers but not always take what they say as gospel which is key. Im also sure 2-3 days more and they would of been even better, come r13 everyone was saying zik is unplayable. Yet you had told many it was and I had seen evidence of that in the stats. This rnd though even though i like the way the stats went imo appoco listened to way too many players. Although our input is ofc valuable sometimes you need to stand up and assert yourself. im pretty positive if jester would be game that appoco and jester could make some great stats, both have skills in that area.

should have changed some ships to target FR, either corsairs same init as txen , or change harpies to target fr same init as tzen, and stats would be oke.

I said prior to round that xan fr would pwn...looks like I was correct..with 1000others.
