Would you take this job?
I requested information about the following job advertisement off of freelancers.net:
Quote:
contact [email protected]
location Your home!
job area Creative
date posted 17/3/2004
Want a bit of a change from your normal boring 9-5!!!Have you got home internet access? Want to work your own hours? Get great pay rates!!? Well you've come to the right place!
We are looking for motivated individuals to work from home answering text messages via our website.
We pay £5 per hour plus bonuses.Managerial position available as well. To get more details please email me ASAP!
|
The reply:
Quote:
Dear Rick,
Thank you for your interest in the advertised position.
The position entails answering text messages via our website. These messages are of an adult nature and are generated from adverts in the back pages of the Daily Star and Daily Sport, The Sun etc. You will be pretending to be a girl chatting to guy’s texting our adult services.
If you are comfortable with this then the position pays £5 per hour basic (you can work from home) plus you can earn another £3 per hour in bonuses. You can work as many or as few hours a week as you like.
If you are interested, then please let me know and I will get back to you and organise an interview.
Thanks again for your interest,
Kind regards,
Jessica
|
Needless to say, its not what i expected from that site.
Worth it for the laugh/money/whatever? And what are the odds that "Jessica" is really a fella?

Nopes, I live in Jersey. We have Social Security numbers.
I have a job here, but it's on a "Temporary" NI number. I don't know how to make it a permanent one.

Re: Would you take this job?
Well I've gone for it too. No idea about the bonuses, although I'd guess they are to do with keeping someone 'chatting' for a certain number of texts or something similar. Given its an area of work I am used to, and texts are far less intrusive than the phone riniging every five minutes, I'm quite looking forward to it.
Now I just have to wait for the next contact from them. I've asked for my interview now.

That is utterly ace.
DO IT!
Easier than phone work. You could mess with people for your own benifit. Imagine it on your CV. "Pretended to be a woman on a sex text line on that there interweb"

Don't you feel a bit cheap and nasty doing it?
I don't know about Mark, but I wouldn't want my girlfriend writing dirty text messages to some sweaty fat bloke jerking off over his mobile phone after having got a new SMS from her.

I can see Mark loving it With all that extra income he can probably build a 10th computer, 25 more nes games, and maybe every second wednesday, him and Sam can eat.

Is there a minimum # of hours you have to work per week? As if you can do it part-time, I might do it to get some extra income...

Re: Would you take this job?
As and when I get more info I will pass it on.
And given Mark spends all his time online, and this pays better than the job he does at the moment, then depending on the set up he can do it while I am out.
And why is it fine for a guy to do it, but a girl should feel cheap and nasty for doing the same thing. Whosever it is on the other end isnt fapping over me, they are fapping over whatever fantasy they have in their sordid little brain and for some reason feel the need to involve someone else in. Its hardly like texts are the ultimate in personal contact.
Its the sad people on the other end who are paying £1.50 a text or whatever it is to just to have some faceless individual (of either sex) text back 'mmm, U R makinf me horny. I want U'

Because a guy would feel suitably ashamed for doing it (I wouldn't announce to the world I got other men off over the internet for a living), for the nature of the job.
Whereas for a girl, you're effectively selling yourself, and your sexual thoughts, even if it isn't in person. Which in my eyes isn't far off prostitution.

It isn't as simple as that though.
I wouldn't want my girlfriend talking dirty to a bunch of other guys. I'd rather support her on my own, or for her to get a "regular" job, than do that.
And I expect she'd be the same for me talking dirty to girls via texts. She wouldn't want me divulging my thoughts and fantasies which should remain in the bedroom, to other women.
To other men, sure, because they aren't my thoughts, they are the thoughts of a made-up woman that I'm pretending to be. I'd have no problem her texting explicitly to other females (heh...ofc), but with men, I just think it's pretty whorish.

Re: Would you take this job?
what on earth makes you think she wont be making it up just as much as a bloke would be?
maybe its actually worse because he will be texting things he would like to hear rather than just sending random smut as a girl is likely to do
