Exclamation Negative Impacts!!!

Personally i think changes arent good (although im sure many will agree and disagree).
That these kind of constant changes to the game consistantly to each round,
actually scares away players than attracting new ones.
If the rules keep changing every round more and more people will get fed up.
Its allready a tightly run game as it is .
XP hasnt been a good thing, caps have made it difficult.
And now the ships are all out of skew as far as effective power to cost compared to previous rounds.
Compared to 10 round ago there has been about a 90% drop in return players.
Think about the consequences for asking for these changes.
Because from what i can see 9 times out of 10 each of these minor changes is more detrimental than a positive.
For example.
Round 6,7,8,9 had ruffly 75,000 People playing.
Round 19 has barely a few thousand.
This is a result from the constant changes people are requesting consistantly for each round.
And a core reflection on the negative impact its having.
Think Twice before you request changes to the game.
And this is going out to the developers also.. who should be listening!
Think about the impact!!!
And think about the new people you are excluding from the game.
it shouldn't be exclusive it should be inclusive!
Change of Perspective for you nerdy old timers out there. Think about the noobs and the roids your missing out on!

Re: Negative Impacts!!!

several of the clones which emulated old-style pa are either dying, dead or were forced to make changes to remain interesting. Remaining the same is no guarantee of success.

There are far more reasons why the playerbase has declined then can be attributed to changes each round, which arguably make the game more interesting as theres always something to learn.

I presume you mean Rounds 1-4, for which 75000 actual players (NOT accounts) is a generally accepted figure.

The big difference between then and now is that the game isn't free anymore.

There's little point breaking down the changes bit by bit to explain them because your entire argument is ruined by a failure to take into account the switch to pay-to-play.

Re: Negative Impacts!!!

I don't think change is always detrimental. If you take something like World of Warcraft which is probably the most popular online game at present it's constantly changing and evolving, the game now is totally different to when it was released, this hasn't scared new players away from it.

Games that don't innovate are left behind, Planetarion has done amazingly to last six years with so little change. The reason for the huge drop in players from Round 4 onwards was "pay to play", Planetarion simply wasn't a good enough game for the majority of players to demand a fee. Round 6-9 had around ~10,000 players, the player base has declined dramatically since then but I don't think this is due to the changes made to the game, if anything the game hasn't changed enough.
