There's some decent rap and some ****ty rock, the same as there is ****ty rap and good rock.

I prefer rock though.

In a large generalisation:

Most mainstream rock is quite good.
Most mainstream hip-hop is ****e. (Thus it's been called rap)

So the majority prefer rock as it more overground, whereas a bit of searching would reveal a goldmine of underground hip-hop.

Hip-hop and rap are different things though.

Anyway, I'm of the "rock" persuation, although thats a very wide variety of music the majority of which I think is ****e.
