Sorry my post was so poor this... week.
It seemed a most strange suitation during which I could think of two ideas. Ignoring the innae guards and trying to sleep. Or... trying to do something superhuman and walk under the affects of drugs.
Which I assumed was good idea...

[ooc]Karma Point System[/ooc] – Every post I will roll a D10 dice. Depending on the number you will gain points, loose points, suffer injuries, or die. Everyone as of this post starts off with 1 Karma Point, and no dice rolls occur.
  • 1 – Congrats, you get 2 Karma Points
  • 2-5 – Congrats, you get 1 Karma Point
  • 5-9 – Oh no, you LOOSE a Karma Point
  • 10 – Eek. You loose 3 Karma Points. If you have no Karma points, another roll is made. If you score 1-5, nothing happens. 6-9 results in serious bodily injury. 10 means you are… dead.

Karma points do not ever go below 0. They c be exchanged as well in thread to do really insane things, the more insane, crazy, cheating like the event, the more points needed. If I feel you overreached, I will punish you. However, if I feel that the event you did is very unique, interesting, nifty, you might get a free pass, or even a Karma point out of the deal.[/ooc]

ALL: Walking through the corridors, Incom Morgan suppressed his rage at Mr. Smith, who calmly typed out things on his PDA. Mr. Smith insisted on watching from a distance as the 4 mysterious people were transferred to the overnight ward. All attempts to get a straight answer out of Mr. Smith were met with silence. Even the limited records about the Mars Facility that Mr. Smith gave Incom didn’t help the matter. The records stated that some mysterious pathogen caused 90% of the people on the base to go insane, and that the reactors overloaded. Yet why would he give these records to Incom when these people appeared, that is what made Incom wonder about the motives of Mr. Smith.

Passing some other crewmembers, Incom saw them glare at Mr. Smith and continue on their way. Apparently his and his elite task force was not well liked by the rest of the crew. About to address him, Incom was shocked when Mr. Smith addressed him first.

“Apparently things occurred that were not in the records. Nor do most of those people actually have much respect for the UAC chain-of-command anymore. Probably have to go to Plan Delta with them. Commander, you are to limit contact to thos….”

At that moment, Incom’s wrist-link went off, and smiling slightly, Incom raised it to his mouth, while taking a look and seeing he was about a minute from the bridge.

“Incom, go!”

”Commander, Duty Office Levenson reporting. We have lost contact with Viper #3. Also, I am getting reports of… disturbances onboard the ship. Some sections are reporting gunfire. Security personal have been sent to those sections, and I request to bring the ship to Alert Condition 3, what the….. Harley, what are you, ARGH!!!!”

The comm channel is then filled with the sounds of gunfire, screams, curses, and more screams before cutting out. Looking at Mr. Smith, who returned the look with a blank glare, Incom started to sprint towards the bridge, pulling out his sidearm when his wrist-comm went off again.

”Sir, Main Engineering. Two Marines have just entered, and they are shooting the place up. Chief is dead, lost of wounded, they are not saying anything…. AHH!!”

Reaching the doors to the bridge, Incom sees that they are wide open. A man wearing a duty uniform is standing in the arch way, holding a gun. Incom then clearly sees the gun in the man’s hand. The man then turns, and Incom sees sensor operator Harley’s face, and is shocked. It was completely pale, looking dry and stretched over his face, and he was crying blood. That face then vanishes in a red and blue explosion. Turning, Incom sees Mr. Smith holding an odd looking pistol, glowing blue of plasma. Plasma weapons were illegal on ships due to the capability to cause extensive damage to systems, but apparently Mr. Smith decided to ignore that rule. Running into the bridge, Incom starred at the bloody bodies on the deck, stations, and chairs. Sprinting to the main command console, Incom hits the Alert buttons. Alarms go off all over the ship, red lights start flashing. Seeing movement next to the ship comm station, Incom sees Levenson pull himself up, holding onto a badly bleeding leg room.

“Sir, reports started coming in all over the ship. Crew members apparently going insane, killing anything they see. Limited reply’s from Marines……”

As of this point, Mr. Smith was examining another console looks up to Incom.

“Commander, apparently the main reactors are being sabotaged. I’m reading an cascae overload in the main reactor coils.”

“Initiate emergency fuel dump and switch over to emergency power. Give me shipwide.”

Seeing Haverson type out some commands on his console, and weakly nod at Incom, Incom pulls out a com-link to the ship PA system.

“All hands! This is Cmdr. Morgan. An unknown contagion is affecting crew members, turning them insane. All non-essential personal report to your quarters or another safe area. Sabotage to the ship reactors is requiring us to initiate an emergency shutdown and vent. Be prepared for power-loss. Good luck.”

Cutting the channel, Incom nods at Mr. Smith, who then hits several buttons, revealing an emergency panel with several large levers. Pulling two of them, the ship starts to shake violently. Pulling two more, the ship shakes violently, then the sound of machinery and equipment shutting down fills the ship, plunging it into blackness. Slowly emergency lighting activates, casting the ship in dim lighting, barely enough to see.

On the bridge, Mr. Smith stands back, then turns to see the business end of Incom Morgan’s sidearm at his face.

“Alright Mr. Smith, no more games, tell me what the **** is going on NOW!”

Individual DM’s
  • Adam – As the man leaps at you, your first shot takes the man squarely in the forehead. However, instead of falling to the ground, he continues charging at you. The shipwide PA system then goes off, and while you try to pay attention, you are understandably distracted. Your next shot takes him in the shoulder. Your third and final shot you don’t see the results, for the ship shakes violently and the lights fail. Unable to see, you then feel pain against your chestplate, as if you were hit with something hard and fast. The emergency lighting activates, and you have a semi-clear view of the man’s remaining brains as he punches you again, sending waves of pain despite your armor. You then swing your pistol around and fire again into the head of the man, the shot essentially destroying the man’s head. As of this point, the man falls to the ground, limp and dead. Pulling up your comm-link, you only hear the hiss of static from it, no matter what you do.

  • Fluffie – Filling the rapist’s body with fire, you see him fall to the ground, twitching, then fall completely limp. However, being really pissed, you fire a round into Mrmao’s leg, then threaten him. Comforting the women, you hear the message from the commander, then the lights fade. You then see an orange flash, and feel…. Strange….. as if your body was to small.

    Oh crap, here we go again brother….

    As the emergency lights activate, you first realize that the women is no longer moaning, but instead growling. Next you realize that she is clawing at you, craving into your armor. Grabbing your arm, she jumps behind you, painfully wrenching your arm backwards. You then see the rapist stand up, impossible considering how his torso looks like bad Swiss cheese. In addition you see his face, for he is now crying blood, and his skin is an ashen grey color. Looking at the women, you see she too is crying blood, and her skin also changed color. You still have the use of your left arm, and it might be a good idea to do SOMETHING!

  • Mrmao – Falling to the ground and clutching your leg, you barely listen to Fluffie. Managing to tie off the wound, you look up as the shipwide PA system activates, and the message form the commander echo’s through the ship. Then the lights fade, and the ship starts to violently shake. As the lights activate, you see the female attack the Marine, and the man stand up, despite his chest resembling Swiss cheese.
    • Role: Civilian Scientist – Attached to Athena Project
    • Health: Pulse Rifle Wound to Upper Right Leg
    • Armor: Lab Overcoat - Standard Duty Uniform
    • Weapons: None
    • Equipment: PDA
    • Karma Points: 1 Point
  • Dunin Hemm – As you hit the comm-link, the shipwide PA system goes off, and your hear the message from the Commander. An emergency reactor shutdown, despite all the safety feature’s, resulting in a wide variety of unexpected reactions. Then the lights die, after another violent round of ship-wide shaking. You then feel really cold, as if someone has walked over your grave, and an orange flash, and screams. The emergency lights then kick in. First of all you see the Marine that shot himself in the head, standing upright, yet swaying as if drunk. Next you hear behind you screams and what sound like roars. Turning enough to catch a glimpse, you see all the prisoners clawing at the doors to their cells. What is most shocking is the change of their skin tone, to a dark ashy color, and their bleeding eyes. Even the wounded one is punching at the doors, and creating dents. Hearing a noise from the Marine, you turn to see him raising his sidearm towards you, and through the ruined faceplate, you can see slivers of ashy grey skin and blood.

  • Ph8 – You jerk upright, shaking away the dream about coffee being spilling on a man’s head. Such dreams were what you suffered when you were deprived of coffee. First of all, you realize that the lights are gone, replaced by the dim emergency lighting. Second of all, most of the consoles have been shut down. Finally, is the hologram of the ship AI avatar. She looks to be tired, bowed down as if carrying a heavy weight. Looking up at you, she starts to change , turning from a pleasant blue color to a angry red, horns appearing on her head, and holographic flames dancing around her. You then hear her voice over your station.

    “Emergency Override – Omega Protocol – Initiating complete atmospheric venting, disabling audio alarms shipwide. Initiating reactor overload, time to overload, 10 minutes. Initiating Operation Foothold Doom. ”

    Checking over some of the emergency consoles, you see that all other stations would have little to no access, you still have access to the ship mainframe. With a violent shaking, the hologram looks annoyed before continuing to talk to itself.

    “Reactor overload aborted via manual override. Initiating ship lockdown. All sectors locked down and secured. Initiating atmospheric venting. Initiating reprogramming defensive system.”

  • Gokan – Disengaging the autopilot, you wonder bleakly how the hell you will explain what happened. This quickly fades from your thoughts as you see the lighting on the Athena flicks and start failing all over the ship. In addition, the engines, normally glowing a pleasant glow, also fade into inactivity. You then see several hatches explode violently, and a thick substance emerge from the ship, which you recognize as a combination of ship coolant and fuel. Your radar then detects another object. Zooming in on it, you see it as Viper #2, also out on patrol if you recall correctly. However, it is flying as if the person behind the controls was a drunken fool. You then detect a missile warning, but not aimed at you, but at the venting ports on the Athena. The venting was still going on, and if an explosion took place, it could possibly take out the Athena.

  • Inspectre – Driving the IV stand into the back of the man, you are surprised to possess the strength to punch it right through the man and out through his chest. Unlike most people who just got stabbed through the chest, the man stands up, causing the IV pole to slam into your jaw and knocking you down. You then hear gunshots, and the ship shakes violently when you hear the message from Incom Morgan. The lights then fade away with another violent shudder, and an all-to-familiar orange light flashes. This time, it seems to revive you, for you feel stronger, healthier, and awake. Then emergency lights activate, and except for you, and your allies from Mars, the rest of the personal have the trademarked bleeding eyes, ashen skin, and a desire to consume your flesh. By your quick count, you determine there are 4 nurses, the doctor, and the one of the Marines. The other Marine is in the process of being torn apart by 2 of the nurses, one of them tearing off an arm, and the other Marine is being beaten by Richard and Heiro.

  • Heiro – Tackling the Marine, you make a grab for his pistol, which he easily avoids. Turning, you avoid Richards charge, which instead knocks the Marine down to the ground. Grabbing the pistol, you aim at the man, who now has a IV pole through his chest and is about to attack Inspectre and fire. During this some kind of announcement went over the PA system, then the lights fade with several rounds of violent shuddering. Then an all-to-familiar orange light flashes. This time, it seems to revive you, for you feel stronger, healthier, and awake. Then emergency lights activate, and except for you, and your allies from Mars, the rest of the personal have the trademarked bleeding eyes, ashen skin, and a desire to consume your flesh. By your quick count, you determine there are 4 nurses, the doctor, and the one of the Marines. Looking at the Marine next to you, you see though the visor a glimpse of ashen skin, and without thinking, aim your pistol and fire into the faceplate.

  • Richard – Pushing yourself up, you attempt to tackle Heiro, but due to a lucky move on his part, you instead knock over the Marine. As you pull yourself up, you hear a gunshot, then everything goes to hell. The lights then fade away with another violent shudder, and an all-to-familiar orange light flashes. This time, it seems to revive you, for you feel stronger, healthier, and awake. Then emergency lights activate, and except for you, and your allies from Mars, the rest of the personal have the trademarked bleeding eyes, ashen skin, and a desire to consume your flesh. By your quick count, you determine there are 4 nurses, the doctor, and the one of the Marines. The other Marine is in the process of being torn apart by 2 of the nurses, one of them tearing off an arm. Hearing noises that don’t sound like English, you look at the Marine you tackled, and see though the faceplate dark ashen skin. Instinctively reacting, you swing with your Right Arm into the chest of the Marine. With a sickening crush, your punch compresses the armor and person inside to almost the back-plating. The Marine doesn’t scream in pain, even as he is shot by Heiro, but instead reaches for you in a non-friendly manner.

Trisk was breathing heavily as he slowly struggled to his feet. That... was not natural onholy it wasnt human at all what the hell was going on? No time to think, he quickly freed the clip from his pistol and slammed in a fresh one and let it drop into the holster as he slung out his plasma rifle. He heard the murmers of the PA system. SOmething about a bug going around. Crazy killing members. No essential crew personal go to quaters. He leant against the wall for a moment looking at the dim emergancy lights. He flicked on communications "Commander/Captian/Whoeverisincharge I was forced to put down one of the marine after he charged at me without.. his eyes. What are my orders?"

Sh'ia - identify the Omega Protocol Scott commanded.

Sh'ia stared at him blankly. State your authorisation... Oh no Scott groaned - it was what he had feared - the blips on the screen weren't his imagination - there was a virus at work here and it was rewriting his AI!

Scott turned to his developer's terminal running different fix scenarios through his mind and reached for the keys...

The terminal went blank - Now up the proverbial shit creek without a proverbial paddle Scott had very few options. He sat back in his chair trying to shut out the blare of the alarms while he tried to think - running up the ramp to the entrance he slid the manual locking bolt across - there was no way the computer could override that even if it went clinically insane. Typing in his code on the weapons locker next to the door - 6666 - strangely fitting for the moment he thought, he pulled out a plasma rifle and placed it across his lap when he sat back down.

There was only one thing for it - the 'big red button' - a button they had often joked about pressing many times. It effectively 'restored to factory settings' the AI - erasing everything that Sh'ia had learned since her inception - about the ship, the crew, the surroundings and most importantly what she had saved - the virus.

Once the big red button was pushed the ship would be dead in the water for over three hours while the entire database underwent a thorough scrub. The ship would be dead in space, victim to asteroids or drift into the sun, unless...

Scott's hand stopped hovering over the red button and reached for the VR rig - one of his favourite toys the VR rig allowed him to interface directly with all of the ships systems in much the way the AI does. This idea was crazy it had never been attempted before - VR rigs were dangerous because they connected straight to your synapses conveying access denied errors as mild pain and completed tasks (from your pda's to-do list) as mild pleasure - with the current state of the system there was no telling what would happen.

Scott pushed the big red button and for a second the original Sh'ia reappeared 'Scott, what are you doing to me?' quickly her face morphed into the horny red representation of the virus "Don't worry Scotty i'll take good care of your little baby, yes I wiiiiiii....." the voice faded off, scott's hand was pressed firmly down on the red button. A notice flashed on the screen:

"Eta until complete system restore: 4 hrs, 30 minutes, 12 seconds"

The notice began counting down.

Now or never thought scott and he put on the VR rig, his idea was to become the ship's computer while the AI rebooted - this hadn't been done before but it had been something he was working on, he turned on the rig and let his mind shoot out into the cyberspace of the ship, he just hoped the virus was obliterated or he could be in trouble...

Well well...

Crazed. Crazed, ****ing crazed. Crazy, idiots, mother****ers, all of'em. And there was no mercy, no sweet loving mercy for the crazed. Only pain, especially if they were holding your arm pinned behind you. No, she really shouldn't have done that.

And then, the lights went out. An orange flash and then emergency lighting.
Not the least, a funny, crowded feeling inside himself... was it the woman harrassing him?

Fluffie headbutts backwards, hopefully straight into the ugly fools face. Following up and doing a combo, his free elbow too tries to smashingly find its way backwards, adding to the hurt and hopefully release. Looking back, the woman looks... differently. Like a zombie or something.

Oh crap, here we go again brother….

Nah. She hadn't.
It was obvious, he himself was going crazy too... His body filled with two, with only one of them being him. And the other was talking to him. Soon there'd be Marines coming from him, he might turn into an ugly mother****er like that bitch.

Fluffie headbutted back again and again, both times with more force than before. And again, this time with enough strenght and anger it in to have split open and spilled the entire contents of a normal human body skull.
The helmet only added to it, he thought on a side-track.
With his free hand, he reach back again, looking for the throat and intending to rip it out. He had gloves (I bloody ****ing hope...) and armour, he could handle her biting. He didn't like her holding him as such though, so he felt fully justified murdering him like bad pimps slaughter stupid non-obeying heroin hookers.

Maddox listens silently as the commander deals out his orders to the ship crew. He had been prepared to escort the two wounded to the sick bay, but then the power fails, and for a second, everything is dark. A flicker. And then he can see again, though what he discovers is none too pleasant. The four prisoners are trying to get out to have a bite of his finger-licking body, all the while crying blood from their ashen faces.
Maddox tentatively raises his pistol, though he knows he can't fire through the bullet-proof windows of the cells. And then he hears something to his side: Turning, he gazes upon the now standing figure of the mortally wounded marine, one wet red eye staring out at him from a hole in the marine's visor.

"What..." is all he has time to say before Kilon raises his gun at him.

In a quick motion, Maddox slaps away the extended arm before the weapon is level with him and places his own pistol before the fallen marine's face.

*BANG!*

Maddox hurries to gather up Kilon's rifle and loot him for clips. A flashlight would come in handy too, if the marine had been carrying one around. A couple of loud thuds from the cells distract him for a moment, but he ignores them with a snort. Getting ready, he dons his helmet, after tucking his hair in under his armoured vest, and makes for the door. He opens it, and glances out to the left and right.

If the coast is reasonably clear, he moves out, goung left to reach the living quarters.

The light went out, when the emergency lights came up Dylan felt weirded out something was different. He looked and saw the man who should have been dead; he had gotten up and was now moving in the direction of the marine, that wasn’t good. Dylan looked at the marine he was now being attacked by the lady that was totally insane. A few minutes ago she hadn’t been able to get up now she was trying to kill someone. The Marine would probably need help now.

Luckily the dead guy was going pass by him, next he need a weapon. He started looking around him for one, he found it a multi-tool on the floor he wasn’t going to argue about were it came from. He grabed it and swung and the dead guys knee cap, hopefully that would bring him down if not a few well placed blows to the head would do it.

Ladies and Gentlemen.

I some what is potentially bad news.

I got a job.

A full-time, 40 hours/week job.

In addition, I got a interview for another company that mostly does part time.

And come May 20th, I have to be out of campus housing. Hence I'm moving into an apartment with my fiancee.

What this means for you all.

My activity here will DRASTICALLY decrease. Yeah, I know, adulthood sucks.

I start my new job May 9th, so until then, I'll do my best to keep this thread alive. After that.... who knows for sure.

Arlan watches in part horror, part amazement as he somehow manages to drive the IV stand all the way through the crazed man's chest. Adding to his shock was that the man was not at all bothered by this, but remainned standing and a moment later grabbed the IV stand and pulled it up, wreching it out of Arlan's grip and sending it crashing up into his jaw.

Seeing stars, Arlan crumbled to the deck, but before the man could press the advantage, several bullets sliced into his shoulder, nearly blowing it off and throwing him down onto the bed. Looking over from his position on the floor, Arlan could see the other patient that he had seen before, and who had looked oddly familiar - Grave. His name was Grave, and if that smoking pistol he was holding was any indication, he had once again saved Arlan's butt.

Suddenly, the ship started to violently shake, and over the cacophony of various stands and medical equipment crashing to the floor, he could hear the intercom blare to life. It sounded like the UAC officer who had visited Arlan earlier, although it was hard to make out what he was saying . . . something about a contagion . . . and an emergency shutdown.

As suddenly as it began, the termors subside, along with all the lights and other powered instruments in the room. All is dark for a moment, and then a hellish orange light fills the room, a sight that feels all too familiar to Arlan, even though he can't recall having ever seen this shade of light before in his life. A moment later the orange light fades, replaced by the dull red (?) of the emergency lighting.

Hearing more snarling, this time from all around him, causes Arlan to take a quick look around the room. All of the nurses, and even the good doctor, were now crazed as well, and all of them were moving in to attack their former patients - who like Arlan, were not crazed for some reason. Hearing a snarl above him, Arlan looks up to see that the zombie he had been fighting and managed to regain its footing, and was once again perched upright on the bed, ready to leap down at him.

Feeling much stronger than he had a moment ago, Arlan ripped the IV needle from his arm with a wince, and then leapt to his feet. Grabbing the IV stand once more, Arlan twisted and pulled, tearing it out of the man's chest with a good portion of his internal organs attached to it. This still didn't seem to phase the zombie much, and it swiped at Arlan with a closed fist. Arlan easily dodged the man-thing's first, off-balance attack, and with a grunt dropped the gore-covered IV stand to the floor. Bracing himself against the bile building in his stomach at the thought of what he was about to do, Arlan balled both of his hands into tight fists, and then thrust them into the gaping hole in the man's chest. As he had seen in his dreams, Arlan saw the edges of the zombie's flesh began to burn away into orange ash where it touched his bare flesh. This lasted only a moment, however, as the impact of Arlan's dual-fisted attack then took effect, sending the zombie flying back and off of the bed. Although he now wanted to vomit, Arlan pressed on, not wanting to give the thing time to recover. He quickly got up onto the bed, looking down at the zombie already pushing itself back up onto its feet yet again. Before it could do so, however, Arlan leapt into the air and landed on the zombie, driving his right foot into the gaping hole in the thing's chest, while his left foot came crashing down on the thing's face.

Time seemed to slow as Ryu watched the missile streak from Viper-Two's launch tubes and hurtle towards the expanding cloud of coolant and fuel. In his mind he saw the missile plummet soundlessly into the glutinous mass, which rippled gently, like a pond after someone has thrown a pebble.

His thumb twitched; He didn't notice, his attention was wholly focused on the thermal flower blossoming into existence before his eyes. The flame roared, this didn't strike him as wrong despite the years of "In space, noone can hear you scream." that had been drummed into him through his academy career.

He felt his grip tighten around something; He ignored the sensation, the fire was inside the ship now. Rocketing it's way down venting pipes, warping the metal, searching for a way in. Metal gave way under the heat and stress of expanding gases. His senses reeled as he watched the flame burst into the ship proper, now burning even hotter thanks to the atmosphere. He watched as friends and crewmembers were incinerated--All but oblivious to the impossibility of watching such events through 10 meters of starship hull. He knew somewhere that their deaths were nigh instantaneous, yet as he watched, the moment of their deaths stretched out, lasting minutes, slow-motion screams of agony echoing to their companions just as they too were consumed by the hungry, mindless incadescence.

He fired. Depleted uranium slugs erupted from his Vipers guns, tracer rounds illuminating the path they took, hurtling though the void for the briefest of moments, colliding with the missile. A round tore the missile in two, the thruster system, not designed to adjust to such a sudden change in momentum spun out of control, spiralling harmless beneath the Athena before the battered fuel-cell ruptured and it exploded in a silent, white-hot flash. The warhead, in counter-point, passed straight over the Athena, arching sedately towards Chiron's sister planet...

Richard flies along the lab in a not entirely controlled manner due to still not being totally awake. Or at least that’s the excuse he’s sticking to. Really he’s just not good at the superman thing, after all, in his line of work you use a gun to hit anything out of arms length. As such it was almost a surprise to him to find himself half way through his leap and still heading directly towards his target, which made it even more frustrating when that target decided to move.

As his metal shoulder smashes into the guard’s waist Richard hears something make a distinctly unhealthy cracking noise. Shortly later he hits the floor – well, actually he lands on the guard, which probably doesn’t do anything to help his already aggravated mood. Hearing a series of shots followed by a seeming lull in hostilities Richard reaches up, wraps his fingers around the side of the nearest bed and pulls himself to his feet shaking his head to clear the ringing sound from his ears.

“Was that really necessary?” he asks as he pulls himself into a half hearted slump against the bed, the guard limping to his feet behind him. The lights go out in a last wild flicker to be replaced by a slowly growing orange tinge flickering across every surface. He feels strange, younger almost, but definitely less tired. He can focus properly without thinking about it and a warmth seeps through his limbs as he stands up properly and - for the first time since waking up here - he feels balanced, as though all his muscles are actually there and listening to him.

The orange light fades as the emergency lighting comes online, hiding the hellish tint behind a flood of crimson. Richard is soon of the opinion that they were better off in the dark. The room seems filled by six people with eyes bleeding and faces twisted into an inhuman grey mask. As he watches two of the nurses leap at a marine and dig their fingers into his flesh, tearing off an arm in the first couple of seconds; thankfully for him it also proves to be the last he will remember as his eyes roll back in their sockets and he passes out from the pain. Through the dying moans Richard makes out a low mumbling in some strange dialect; not english that’s for sure, more like…

Richard looks over his shoulder and sees the blood streaming eyes looking back at him through the helmet visor. Following years of military service and training, Richard’s initial response to having a zombie less than three feet away is to shoot it.

Rather a shame he doesn’t have a gun really.

“Crap.” Richard says for his second reaction.

Unfortunately this expletive doesn’t seem to have the desired effect on the grey visage grimacing at him, so Richard is forced into considering less obvious methods of dealing with the problem. Fortunately there are parts of his brain that are working on a far more basic level. Parts that think in terms directly descended from the thought ‘Ug!’. So, whilst Richard is considering the possibility of utilising some of the equipment lying around to fashion a rudimentary lathe, his arm is pulling back. His body steps forward, swings round and follows through with what was intended to be a rather hard punch to the creatures upper torso.

The guard’s breastplate buckles and collapses inward under the blow, creating a medley of noises bearing an unforgiving similarity to those made by a pair of lungs rupturing and leaking air out through a blood filled kettledrum. Even as Richard extricates his fist from the metal crater something whistles past his ear and shatters the guard’s visor, punching a hole through the being’s head.

Richard was about to make a couple of choice remarks about people’s timing when the rather battered guard opens one blood filled eye and lunges at him, arms outstretched and reaching for him. Richard takes an instinctive step back and as the blood soaked hands slip from around his neck Richard’s brain manages to get the idea that it is back in combat - and had better start thinking as such.

Richard reaches up, grasps the creature’s right wrist in his hands and twists, snapping both bones in it’s forearm at the same time as knocking it onto it’s knees. He clenches his fingers around the creature’s shoulder and swings it up onto the bed, head lolling over the edge as it stares at him with the one remaining eye and reaches up towards him with single intact arm Releasing it he reaches to one side for the equipment cart that had been there but a moment before and wrapping his fingers around the smooth metal bar takes a step backward, heaving up with every muscle in his body.

The cart sweeps upwards at the end of Richard’s arm curving over his head in an almost circular arc as his other hand catches hold at the highest point. With it grasped firmly in both hands Richard corrects his initial aim, bringing the prodigious mass of the cart down onto the zombies head. The helmet becomes embedded in the side of the cart until it strikes the floor - putting a dent in that as well - but the body remains behind on the bed, the shredded neck dripping a slightly blackened blood onto the floor.

“Target down.” Richard declares in case anyone is keeping count and takes a deep breath before turning back to the room at large - just as a man lands on the face of what appears to have been the first maniac. The man looks familiar, as does the one holding the pistol now that the fog has lifted from Richard’s mind; somehow the scene is reassuring in its familiarity. Except that Richard recalls having a gun most of the other times; remembering that a couple of the guards in here were holding rifles originally, Richard glances about on the floor looking for one.

Grappling with the marine was one of the least sensible ideas.
Thankfully someone else agreed with him. Tussling with the marines wrist, Grave takes the opportunity to step left. At that point, Richard cannons into the guard. The sickening sound that follows sinks into every pore on his body.
“Thank god that wasn’t me.” His body says to his mind. “Thank god”
Even more luckily, his right hand had remained around the barrel of the pistol. His training took over then. And even his memory was more than a little fuzzy.
Not to mention his eyesight.
Seeing three... beasts, with the IV poles sticking from their bodies swaying like fire in a vacuum, his body squints.
Squinting. Such a useful feat of human ingenuity
Around then, the three bodies sway into one. Aiming for that point, his hand slides the safety off and pulls the trigger.

His body drops to its knees, as much as he wills it to stand up. His IV had come loose getting up, let alone the run and the now adrenaline short mass swaying with a pistol in hand in front of a zombie.
Wait. That should be a marine.
Grave feels his neck loosen and his head slump forward. The gun scrapes across the floor. The marine-come-zombie leans over to grab him, and with a feat of strength he didn’t even know he had in him, he raises his arm. The tip of the barrel presses to the faceplate with a clatter. As the groans begin from it’s lips, and it skin turns to an ashy gray mess, Grave pulls the trigger. The shot rings out in his ears, and the faceplate shatters into pieces, red gore splattering to fill the plexiglass interior, spewing from the hole to splash his gun and fingers.

Grave remembers firing some shots. And that's about it. His hands seem to be moving on their own. His mind however does loops inside his head, screaming all the way into a black abyss. Then the whole room follows. The lights…
…The orange glow…
…The mood, just right…
“No. Not again. Not again…”
His body surges. His muscles, invigorated, surge with it. Standing upright, he proceeds to shoot the decapitated zombie twice in the chest, before putting his boot into it. When it hits the floor, he shoots it again in the neck, and twice, aiming for the heart.
The thing screeches. Dissolving into a cloud of messy gray ash, burning from the inside out.
With the fires of hell…
…and all that’s left is some scraps of clothing, and perhaps armour.
Raising his pistol, he backs away toward Arlan, preparing to offer him the half clip of ammo and live pistol.
He opens his mouth to speak, but finds it already saying something.
“Not again… Not… again… Not…”
Trailing it off into sobs…. He stands there… amidst the room of the dead…

[ooc]Hmm. I'm assuming that was a different ex-marine to the one richard beat into a bloody mess.[/ooc]

Well ladies and gentlemen.

I am typing this at my desk........ at my new apartment.

Yes, I have internet. It's not as fast as my college line ( ) But I'm learning to adapt.

In addition, today was the first day of work at my new job. Sorry, while I have internet access, I'm not allowed to surf a lot :-p

As for the status of this thread. Wednesday I have a pratical in my class. This Friday I have a major project due. Monday I have a group project due. So unless I get a massive amount of free time somewhere, don't count on a DM till next week or so.
