Richard wipes his hand across his face and looks at the blood smears clinging to his fingers. It feels strange, his first injury since arriving, and it was inflicted by a scientist going insane with his cutlery. Half of him would like to know just what gives an intellectual stick like that the ability to fight off three marines. The other half is concerned with watching the patching up going on, wondering if anyone can survive having a knife through the head.

Before long the two halves decide to talk to each other and realise that the answers are likely to come from the same source; but that source is currently yelling into a comm.-link. For not the first time Richard concludes that there is more weird stuff going on here than any private has any business getting into: anywhere that has scientists going psycho over lunch often enough to need a code for it has personnel problems.

Luckily, all this isn’t his problem, since the guy busy turning his uniform red has the vestiges of lieutenant markings showing from under the film of crimson.

“What next, sir?”

Duke turned and looked up and the marine addressing him. He rose, leaving the injured man on the floor and looked at the man's cut.

"First off, I'm going to patch you up and then take so information down on you, standard medical precautions and procedures. After that, I'm not quite sure, I'd like to knows why this keeps happening."

Duke bent down and got a band-aid form his medkit, along with so disinfectants and started to dress and clean the cut. After he was done he got out his PDA and closed his medkit.

"Whats your ID number soldier?" he said to the newly healed marine.

Richard stays silent while the medic works on his jaw, the disinfectant stings more than the original cut; a fact that strikes him as amusing.

“808-224R-9N, sir. And wouldn’t we all like to know.”

Moments after saying it part of his brain reminds his mouth that this is one of those areas privates don’t need to know about. A more inquisitive part of his brain tells that part to shut up and listen; before any more things he doesn’t need to know about slash his face open.

Armor Notes: All armors have helmets which have a small built-in air supply. The outside of Mars Base has a really thin atmosphere, just enough to prevent you from dying instantly, but rather from suffocation if you use up your air supply.
  • Flapjack - Disconnecting the fuses isolates your Barracks power grid completely, and the indicator on the power generator indicates that the power draw is normal. It was as if something connected to the power grid was attempting to suck all the power possible. The doors then to your section open up, and your C.O. enters, followed by a hunking marine in full heavy armor, carrying a chaingun loosely. What's strange about the marine is it's armor, for it is completly jet black, with no insigna on it whatsoever. Unable to see the face through the helmet, you don't know if you actually know this Marine or not, though you recall hearing rumors of a special detachment of Marines assigned to the eggheads in the Delta and Gamma levels. Looking around at the lights, the C.O. narrows his eyes at you.

    "Marine! Did I give you orders to hook up that generator? I got a comm from maintenance, seems that their latest experiment fried some of the power couplings or something, and they are unable to spare anyone to take a look. You are to report to section B4 and check the power systems, this Marine will escort you and provide further orders. Grab your stuff from the Armory and move out double-time!"
  • Dunin Hemm - Reaching the armory, you see several other Marines from various squads there. You ignore them completly, and instead focus on aquiring your weapons and equipment and putting them on.
  • Disrupter - Stabilizing the scientist and treating one of the Marines that was cut, you see the doors open and a squad of medics rushing in, followed by a Marine clad in completly black heavy armor. You wondered why the Marine was there, for every time you seen someone suffer Mars Sickness, one of those Marines was with the recovery squad. The lead Medical Technician, wearing a black armband indicating he had Delta level access, looks you over then waves at the body. The other medics attach monitoring devices and move the scientist onto the stretcher. The lead looks at you once again, and looks at the Marine (Richpur):

    "Good job, we got it from here. We will take this one down to Delta Medical. Move out!"

    Before you can say anything, the medics leave with the scientist, followed by the hunking Marine.
  • Mrmao - Reaching the armory, you see most of the other Marines, from all shifts no less, grabbing their equipment and checking it over. Fortunally there is more than enough space, thus you are able to grab your pistols and make your way towards the Hanger Bay, grumbling all along at the lack of power, but fortunally, the independent backup lights provide enough illuminiation. As you approach the last reported section that the security bot was reported, the silence is interupted by the sound of gunfire up ahead.
  • AcidK - Reaching the armory, you quickly head towards your locker. Inside you pull out your customized chaingun. Checking it over, it is in full working condition. You then pull out and start putting on the rest of your equipment.
  • Fluffie - Heading towards the armory, you reach it and see most of the other Marines already there, with you apparently being the last one, loading up on weapons and equipment. You too follow your orders, and start grabbing your weapons and equipment, awaiting further news.
  • Hewitt - Stumbling around in the dark, your eyes are blinded by the backup lights activating. Swearing, you hear your PDA start beeping at you. Checking it, you see that you are suppose to report to the armory. Running out, you race through the hall, barely beating another Marine (Fluffie) into the armory, where you start equiping yourself with your wepaons and armor.
  • No Dachi - Druming your fingers, you look outside the window of the UAC transport as it makes it's final approach to Mars Base. You were just recently assigned to security detail to Mars Base, and for the past few hours been bored stiff. Looking at the other passengers, you see another Marine, fully armored and armed, which was odd. All your weapons and equipment (except service pistol) were stowed away in your bags. The Marine seems to be acting as a bodyguard for a civilian, wearing what appeared to be translucent sunglasses of all things. There were some other civilians, apparently scientists, who ignored you and vise-versa. Since they have not interacted with you, you too ignored them. Without warning, the transport lands, bouncing your slightly as it makes contact. Standing up, you grab your bag and make your way off the transport and onto Mars Base.
  • Slick - Following the trail of blood (sorry, no tracers), you see on a wall what looks to be holes made by a weapon, with traces of blood. Yelling you, you hear what appears to be a moan from up ahead. Readying your weapon, you turn a corner, and see the other Marine, who's name you can not recall, though you are pretty sure he didn't have several holes in his chest and leg. His head rolls towards you, for he appears to barely be alive. Hearing the clinking noise again, you turn, and see several flashes and your hearing vanishes thanks to the effects of close range gunfire. Leaping to the side, the gunfire misses you, but strikes the other Marine, blowing off the top of his head and covering you with assorted brain matter mixed with blood and bone. Your flashlight falls out of your hands, twisting in air to illuminate the security bot. The security bot is the shape of a spider, with a round body, eight thin legs, and a mini-chain-gun mounted on top. Staring at it, you see the gun swivel, tracking you and opens fire again.
  • Richpur - Giving your information to the medic, you watch as the recovery squad enters and retrieves the egghead. As they leave, you wonder what was up with that Marine, for you never saw such an armor before. Your PDA then starts beeping. Checking it, you see that you have orders to deploy to the armory.
  • Spritely Zombie[/b] - No posting, BAD BAD! You have been autopiloted to armory.

All Armory People - As all are in the process of equiping yourselves, the officer in charge of Alpha and Beta security, Master Sergeant Kelly steps up in the front of the room. You all turn and salute him, and he waits a second before speaking:

"Listen up ladies! The eggheads have done it again and somehow f*cked up the power system. As such we are at condition 2, meaning full active patrols until the power system is back up and running. All shifts are to deploy to their patrol routes, except your Marine (Sergeant points directly at Fluffie). Being the last one here as of this moment, you get the honor of being the tour-guide for a newbie who just docked. You report to the hanger bay and bring him here. I have the rest of your patrol routes posted here, follow them to the letter. DISMISSED!"

*Sergeant Kelly then turns and exits the room. Checking the main display, you all see your patrol routes, and set off towards them.*

Deployment Arrangements
  • Squad 1 - AcidK, Spritely Zombie, 2 NPC Marines - Ordered to Patrol between sections A3 - A5
  • Squad 2 - Hewitt, Dunin Hemm, 2 NPC Marines - Ordered to Patrol between sections A1 - A3

OOC Awww... i liked the aliens idea of tracers on ppl..... but hey....

Slick walks up the long corridoor still yelling "MARINE!!!" When he suddenly hears a moan in the distance. Grabbing his flashlight, he shines it into the room, immediately noticing the gunshot walls and the marine on the floor. Walking over to the marine his head turns and his eyes try to focus on him. "Don't worry, We'll get you a medic, your gonna be fine" Suddenly hearing the clanking in the distance he drops his flashlight in surprise, in the flashlights beam he sees a security bot strangly different, now acting as if at war. The security bot lets a few shells loose and he jumps out the way.

Now temporarily deaf, he grabs his second shotgun out of his holster as the security bot tracks him. He screams " GET THE HELL AWAY FROM HERE YOU MALFUNCTIONING PEICE OF SHIT!!!!" He fires his shotguns at the bot, but to no avail. The bot Lets loose with another round of shells, This time aiming for his legs and he jumps out of the way. He looks at the now dead marnine with grief and puts one shotgun away.

Running away from this beast, it follows and continues to shoot at him. He carries on shooting back until the lonely click of his shotgun is heard and he is out of shells. He thinks as he jumps behind a large crate of Rations 'What the hell is this thing'??? He grabs one of his emergency grenades and pulls the pin with his teeth and thows it at the bot.

*Flapjack jumped to attention when he noticed the C.O., saluting quickly while eyeing the black marine for a moment*

"Sir, I was attempting to restore power to this section, something outside of the barracks grid is putting a huge draw though sir."

*Immediatly after saying this, Flapjack sprinted out towards the armory, leaving the generator running in the barracks for the time being, if it had to be removed 1 of the other specialists would take care of it and the armory would probably have another generator anyways. Upon arriving in the armory Flapjack grabbed his gear, putting on his armor in record time and (if availble) hoisting another portable generator onto his back, quickly fastening the straps and clicking the medkit onto the back of that before turning towards the marine in black*

"Specialist Flapjack ready sir."

*Flapjack then followed the black marine towards B4*

Fluffie finished gearing up, tucking his PDA safely away somewhere under his Armour, along with his spare ammo. He had been looking around earlier, seeing nearly everyone had a flashlight. He wondered why. Sure, somewhere in the past there had been a computer game about Marines on a base on Mars where everything went from ****ed to pretty much f00ked pretty soon, with lights failing, people turning into zombies and portals to Hell itself opening.

But old computer games couldn't predict the future, right? The lights on this base were supposed to be ace, always working, never failing.........! They better had be. Fluffie didn't like the dark that much. He had requested three flashlights earlier on, one for each shoulder mount and a third for on his weapon, but someone up high seemed to be a real tight ass when it came to giving Marines their equipment. They also had denied his request for a possible fourth flashlight for his second weapon. They also wouldn't give him a medpack full with painkillers.

Everything he wanted for heroic last stands... They denied it all. As if they wanted this base to be doomed [author's note: Ho ho ho!], in case that computer game, released so many years ago, spoke truth.

Bloody bitches.

Looking through his locker some more, he didn't see anything to make him smell better. Cursing inside his head, he hoped the Marine he was supposed to be picking up wouldn't mind. If he did, well, then it would be his own problem, not really Fluffie's. Damn orders and such.

Not much later, Fluffie is walking through corridors, carrying his trusted Chain Gun, heading towards where he was supposed to be picking up the new arrival...

As the black armour sweeps out after the scientist, Richard turns back to the first medic and takes a breath just as his PDA goes off.

“Well, that guy certainly didn’t come from my unit.” He says, pulling the pad from its belt pocket and flicking the screen up. “Looks like there’s more going on than a weirdo in a dark mess hall. Thanks for the face.”

Richard starts to walk towards the mess door, but about half way there breaks into a jog, exiting into the hallway just in time to totally miss seeing the armoured medical team again. Sighing softly in irritation, he turns towards the armoury and carries on along the corridor at a half run.

Patrols... He thought, One powercut and it's all patrols again...

Gokan jumps when Cid taps him on the shoulder. Quickly he shakes his head to clear out the cobwebs and salutes Sergeant Kelly.

"I'm on channel 2" he says to Cid and the other marines before pulling his helmet on.

Quickly he checks the safeties on his pistols again, and then starts along the patrol route.

Mrmao freezes upon hearing the gun fire. He moves to put himself against the wall. With one hand he undose the holster on his right hip and darws the appropraite pistol, in his other had is his PDA. As he slincks forward to the next corner at the entrance to the section in question. Before entering the section he radiosover his PDA trying to make contact with anybody.

"Hello, this is Dylan Reed, anybody in section (appropraite section here)."

Occ/ well if the pda communication dose not work like walkie talkie i'll rewrite.

Crp. Roxborough grunts at the two privates and leads them out of the room, expecting Hewitt to come after. She sets course for section A2 (if they are supposed to go through that section), holding her flamethrowing over her belly, nozzle pointing the ground.

No Dachi watched the fully-armoured marine and the oddly-garbed civilian the man apparently guarding out of the corner of his eye - any civilian meritting personal escort by marine was likely important to the UAC in some way, and annoying the Corp wouldn't bode well for his already fairly grim career prospects. Getting shipped out to the base on Mars was not No Dachi's idea of a good posting. Still, could be worse. He could have been stuck on that transport for an hour longer - nothing but the two strange and potentially dangerous gentlemen and the rather unfriendly scientists to talk to for the entire journey from Earth. Not the best of fun. Abruptly, the transport contacted with the frame of the docking bay, jolting No Dachi upright in his seat. He was eager to get off - whatever was on the outside of that airlock door could not possibly be worse. Finally, the door was open. Quick as a flash, No Dachi was on his seat and wrestling with the catch on the overhead baggage stowing locker. The door opened suddenly, and the marine barely had time to grab his rather heavy bag before it smacked him square in the face. Slinging it over his shoulder, he proceded out into the docking bay. He was standing on a steel - presumably - platform of some description, and all around him was the docking bay, though "cavern" would probably be a more appropriate word. No Dachi looked around, trying to figure out what to do next.

Duke watched the med team take away the wounded man. He entered the marine's ID number and watched him jog out of the mess hall. After reviewing the information on the man's medical history, Duke packed up all of his gear and started on his way back to the B section medlabs, and his quarters.

* Time passes (enough for walking)*

Duke reaches the medlabs and heads over to the clothes closet. He picks out a new uniform, the old one in need of washing since its shirt was now mostly red. He wanders over to a shower, bringing just his shotgun and some soap, and takes a nice hot shower very quick like. He towels of and dresses up again and spends the rest of his free time dislodging water from his ears and drying his hair.

*Hewitt silently chuckles as he suits up at the fate of the marine stuck with escorting a newbie, a fate that he himself had just narrowly avoided himself. Getting into his armour as quickly as possible, going through the proper checks testing the enhancement systems etc, Hewitt plods over to the weapons rack and grabs the standard heavy marine loadout of a chaingun and extra ammo. Once he's all geared up and good to go he wanders out of the armoury and chases up Corpral Roxborough, lightly grasping the heavy chaingun as he jogs forward.*

That's really scary.

Unfortunally, due to Wednesday's being icky in terms of stuff to do, DM'ing will not happen for another..... 7 hours from time of this posting, give or take. So settle down, enjoy the calmness...... for it is not lasting, Muhahahahaha.

Tiny problem.

After I posted that statement, I went to class. Oh s**t, we had a essay due, THAT I NEVER STARTED!!!! Thus the rest of the day was power-writing the essay and ahving E-mailed it in, I need sleep. Apologizes, expect extra special DM at some point tommarrow.

Richard steps out of the armoury and into the extraspatial region of the thread, takes hold of Disrupter in one hand, flapjack in the other.

"No impersonating the DM's body parts."

He then pushes them forcibly back into their respective characters, brushes a few particles of dust from his uniform and climbs back into the plot in the area of the armoury, ready to recieve his orders whensoever the officer in question may see fit to distribute them.

DM #3 - Ominous Warning

Notes: All personal have trackers installed in them (I’m taking slicks idea, pretend I said yes originally). They are implanted on the upper left arm. They can be easily jammed however, and only security PDA’s or terminals to the base computers can track them, assuming you have the proper security clearance.

Marine Order #1: The primary duty of the UAC Marine on Mars Base is to ensure the safety of ALL Civilian personal. Due to the high stress environment, fights between civilians are quite possible, and thus ALL Marines are ordered to keep the peace.
  • Squad #1 – As your squad leaves the armory, the primary lights turn back on, and you can clearly hear the sound of the ventilation system kicking back in. This is short lived however as the lights shut down, then start blinking randomly before finally stabilizing. Since there is little that you can do, you continue along your patrol routes when you get a transmission from Sergeant Kelly.

    “Squad 1, your orders have changed. We got a missing civilian roaming about somewhere in the Alpha levels, we think he made his way into the old communications relay system. We got a weak signal from his tracker, so we can’t give the exact section. You are to find him and escort him to Beta section entrance. Move out.”

    The old communications relay system, installed when Mars Bars was first built, used to house all the communications equipment until the base expanded. Still, it has a connection to the communication systems, and if one wanted to they could use it to send a weak signal. In order to get to the old relay, you have to go through section A5, and through the old areas of the base.
    • Location: Section A4
    • Orders: Patrol Sections A3-A5 – New Objective: Hunt for missing scientist.
    • Personal:
      • AcidK – In good Health
      • Spritely Zombie – In good Health
      • NPC #1 – In good Health
      • NPC #2 – In good Health

While it is nice to have dedicated illumination once again, the peace is shattered by a scream in a side office, and then a local area alarm going off.

    The local area alarms, used to notify security people that a crisis had occurred, ranging from a fight to medical condition, was a loud annoying noise that kept going on and off. As per your orders, you double-time it to the source. It appears to be a small conference room, with the doors being semi-transparent on top. You see shapes moving, but can’t make out anything until the doors open, and a civilian, judging by his uniform one of the key administrators of the base, rushes out, before his should explodes in a red spray of blood and bone, as the echo of a gunshot travels through the air. Inside you see what appears to be a janitor, eyes bleeding, yelling out gibberish, holding a power crowbar and a pistol, running after the three other civilians in the room. As the doors shut behind the civilian that managed to escape, the civilian looks at you as screams are heard from within the room. You notice that in addition to the gunshot wound to the should, he is clutching a gut wound that is bleeding rather profusely.

    “*cough*Mathews…….. Mars…… sickness…….. stop him….. before he kill……..”

    The civilian eyes roll into the back of his head and he falls forward onto the group, passed out from mostly likely shock from blood loss. Another scream inside jerks you into some sort of action.

    Fluffie, being the last Marine to make it to the armory, was stuck with the quite boring tour guide for a newbie role. He was sore, sweaty and stinky all for walking someone around? His CRAZY thoughts about the old computer game occupied his thoughts as he traveled to Section A1, though he did notice the lights returning to normal, as well as the ventilation. As you walk, you pass a civilian in a nice suit, followed by a very tall, very powerfully built marine carrying a large bag that if your personal stench didn’t block your nose, would smell of l337 weapons. Reaching the entrance, he sees the Marines (No Dachi & Herio), standing around holding their bags. No Dachi wonders where this other Marine came from quickly, but then remembers that there were two main passenger sections on the transport, and he just may have well missed him at boarding. Anyways, as Fluffie almost reaches No Dachi and, you all hear a scream, that escalates in volume to pain. Turning to look, the two of you see a group of cargo workers, evidenced by their simple grey uniforms and toolbelts, 4 of them are trying to hold down another. Surprisingly, the four and thrown off, and a fifth one stands. You clearly see that his eyes are bleed, and he is holding a large metal pipe in his hands. One of the works tries to rush him, but the metal bar runs into the chest of the dockworker, and the sound of breaking bone reaches even No Dachi. Another dockworker tries to grab the man from behind, but with a feral scream, the man bites down hard on a nearby hand, and comes away with a large chunk of flesh that he swallows.
    • Location: Section A1 – Entrance to Mars Base
    • Orders: Escort No Dachi on a tour of Alpha sections – Subdue Dockworker inflicted with Mars Sickness.
    • Personal:
      • Fluffie – Sore and Stiff from working out – Very Smelly
      • No Dachi – In Good Health – Somewhat Lost
      • Heiro – In Good Health – Somewhat Lost
  • Squad #4 – As slick jumps backs, swearing at the bot, he opens fire with his shotgun. Prehapes not the best choice of weapons, for the shells from the shotgun bounce off the security bot. As you jump behind a stack of rations, you feel a numbing flash in your leg. Taking a look, you see that the light armor is scarred with a near miss, but that was enough to make the leg numb and most likely have a nice bruise come the next day. Pulling out a grenade, you toss it behind you, and jump forward and around the corridor, running into Mrmao. Shoving him to the ground, the grenade goes off with a loud explosion and a flash of light. The grenades were designed for concussive force in a very small area, in order to help prevent breaches, but still were VERY frowned upon using inside the base, you probably would be yelled at for it afterwards if you lived. For a few seconds, deafness and silence reign, then the clicking noise of the bot’s legs can be heard, as it rounds the corridor. You obviously see that three of it’s legs are missing, and it’s armor is cracked with sparks flying from it’s inners. It’s gun tracks you, and starts to firing, clearly missing but slowly the accuracy improves.
    • Location: Section A5
    • Orders: Find malfunctioning Security Bot and either repair it or disable it.
    • Personal:
      • Mrmao – In Good Health – Ringing Ears
      • Slick – Minor bullet graze to left leg, bruising of area – Ringing Ears
  • Squad #5 – Following the Marine, you are quickly passed through all the security checkpoints towards the Beta section. Noticing the lights stabilizing, you think that the problem was already solved without you, but the Marine doesn’t stop, but keeps moving. Any conversation attempt on your end is ignored completely. Finally stopping at a service hatchway that leads to a series of maintenance tunnels, the Marine stop in front of a civilian. The civilian, holding a series of cables and PDA, looks at you.

    “Okay, we got power back here, but only temporarily. Those people in Delta, or Gamma, or whatever, blew out most of the couplings here. We got someone in there, but they really need a hand, and we are short-staffed at the moment. Get inside and help them.”

    Looking at the tunnels, short so you have to crawl on your belly, though there are sections where one could stand, you see it will be a uncomfortable fit, but easily doable.
    • Location: Section B4
    • Orders: Assist in restoring power
    • Personal:
      • Flapjack – In Good Health
      • B-NPC #1 – In Good Health
      • Civlian Supervisor – In Good Health
  • Squad #6 – As Disruptor finishes his shower and changing, his PDA goes off. Checking, you see that there have been shots fired near a conference room in Section A2, with a report of Mars Sickness. Seeing that one man was already wounded, you quickly finish getting dressed and run out. As you sprint past the armory, Disruptor sees Richard standing, fully equipped, but having missed the meeting, standing on guard duty. Since Medical Marines had authority to recruit normal Marines has needed for emergencies, you order him to follow and escort you to the crisis zone. (Hint You are hooking up with Squad #2 there)
    • Location: Section A4
    • Orders: Attend to the report of wounded via gunshots in Section A2
    • Personal:
      • Richpur – In Good Health – Rapidly Healing facial wound
      • Disruptor – In Good Health

Roxborough doesn't seem to care about Hewitt's jeering, as she trods along the poorly illuminated corridors. As the light struggles to return, she and her comrades hear a scream close by. As the alarm sounds, Roxborough hurries off in the direction of the conference room where the bloody scene takes place.

The wounded man passes out and at that Roxborough crashes in through the door, releasing the nozzle of the flamethrower to let it trail behind by the fuel line, and picks up a chair. Aiming for the lunatic she puts all her strength behind a wide swinging motion and throws the furniture at the man, hoping to disable him long enough for her and her comrades to overpower him before he can put the gun and crowbar to use.

He turned and looked at the two new arrivals. Nodding a short "hello, he leaves them be for the moment, walking over to the brawl.

Levelling his chain gun, he squints his eyes for a second. All of them being so close together, well... That'd be messy.

"Stand back. And you..."

Fluffie made sure the sound of his weapon just a squeeze away from tearing the whole place apart was well heard by all.

*Taking Roxborough's lead, Hewitt and the other two marines rush forward towards the crisis area. Hewitt grimaces as the severely wounded man utters a few words before collapsing completely.*

"Aww shit. Just what we need right now."

*While Roxborough charges forwards towards the conference room to take care of the inital threat, Hewitt whirls around at the other two marines.*

"You!" *Points at one marine (assumably a private)* "Stay here in case the infected tries to make a run for it. If he does, shoot him... oh and make sure this man down here stays alive until a medic gets here yeah?"

*The marine nods. Hewitt grabs the other marine as he now starts running towards the room.*

"You come with me."

*Together Hewitt, with his normally heavy chaingun grasped loosely in his right hand, and this marine enter just in time to see Roxborough throw a chair at the raving lunatic. Caring little for the crowbar and the pistol - what with his heavy armour and all - Hewitt launches himself at the crazed man, leaping over the large conference table in the process. As he flies uncontrollably through the air he hopes for those few brief seconds that the infected man is dazed enough for Hewitt to land right on top of him.*

No Dachi watched as one of the two newly-arrived marines, this one clad in heavy armour and hefting a sizeable chaingun, stepped forward, apparently with the intention of taking the crazed dock worker down alone. The man said words to the effect of "stay back" and, unarmoured and unarmed as he was, No Dachi didnd't need telling twice. Reasoning that armour could only increase his chance of surviving this encounter, No Dachi dropped his bag to the floor, reached inside and produced his armoured vest, which he presently put on over his head, before pulling and bolting the straps closed to ensure it didn't come loose. He took out his sub machine gun, complete with its strap, and set it down on the floor next to the bag before producing his helmet, also from the bag, and placing it on his head. Finally, he took out his security PDA and flashlight, putting the former into one of the pouches on his armour's combat webbing and slotting the latter onto one of the hardpoints on his SMG. Zipping up the now-empty bag and slinging it over his shoulder, No Dachi stood up to full height, looped the strap of the sub machine gun over his head and, the flashlight switched on, pointed it square at the dock worker's face - his eyes looked sore and bloody, so maybe the light from the torch would phase him a little.

*Flapjack cursed softly as he looked into the tunnels, he hated those things, his armor always hung up on things, still he had to go in and thus he quickly checked his pistol, the shoulder holster normally had the small cover open but Flapjack quickly clicked it shut to ensure his pistol wouldn't drop out of it, he wouldn't have that happen to him twice*

*As soon as he finishes checking his armor and the tools on his belt, Flapjack undid the straps on his generator and rather unceremoniously dropped it at the hatch, he wouldn't be needing it in there and just his medkit would be hard enough to take along, quickly unclipping the medkit from the generator and shoving it tunnel, Flapjack crawled in himself, pushing the medkit along in front of him, flashlight grasped between his teeth, Flapjack made his way down the tunnel and towards the civvie already working on the power systems*

As Dylan was knocked over by the other marine he yelled out. " D*m jarhead," he was about o continue off in another round of explictive the bot came around the corner and started to shoot at them. Well guess thats the bot Dylan thought to himself. His PDA had been knocked out of his hand by the fall luckily though he still had his pistol. Having seen the bot through the marines legs. He brougth his pistol up and tryed to take aim at its main sensor hoping to blind it. He only had the nerve to let off one shot througth the marine's legs Because the mainre would not be to found of it.

"Aw man, I hate alpha sector." he says, to noone in particular. He shrugs and sighs, reaching for his security PDA and booting up a map of the older sections of mars base, planning out the route that would get them to the comms relay and back, as fast as possible.

OOC: yeah i liked the idea of tracers...

Slick feels the numbing pain of a shell's near miss and then the sharp pain on his head from jumping into mrmao. SLightly dazed, he shakes his head and then the grenade goes off... in surprise, he drops his shotgun.

Blinking, he smells the stench of mrmao's armpits as he ended up there, he jumps up, and falls over again from the numb leg. he grabs his machine gun from his back and starts shooting at the cracks in the bot's armour with armour peircing bullets (yes i know that i dnt have have 2 aim for there since they peirce armour but its a good place to start, whoever neg repped me for missing out the s in shotguns.....)

Duke sprinted up the halls to Alpha section and on the way found a marine on guard duty. Deciding that he would like to not be hurt by another insane civ from the mars area, he orders the marine to follow him. Running at top speed Duke flashes his clearence and security cards to the scanners and bursts into Alpha section. Following another two marines, (Hewitt and Roxborough) Duke sprints along at top speed and barrels past the two, knocking each aside.

Taking a quick view around the room, Duke hurries over the the man on the ground with a large stomach wound. He flips the man onto his back and immiedatly starts cleaning the wound, getting blood all over his fresh new outfit. Duke badages the man up and temporarily stops the bleeding. He treats for shock and elevates the mans feet and keeps him warm.

"Call the medicenter and tell them to get a few pints of blood up here now! This man needs a direct transfusion to live." He yells to the marine he found in the hall. (Richpur)

Duke gets up and then looks to see who else needs to be healed.

ooc/ am i the only medic that runs around period??

"No seriously." he continues. "All that disused machinery and busted pipes and vent shafts. Hell huge chunks of it are open to the outside world. I don't know about the heavy suits, but these ones don't pack much air. End up having to dash from discarded air cannister to air cannister. I know one guy mistook a helium can for an air one. Would've been damned funny, had he not passed a few moments later due to oxygen deprivation... Spent 3 weeks in intensive care."

Gokan continues to talk at great length about a variety of random things, obviously how he deals with stress...

Richard chases off after the medic, wondering if the problem he's now running towards is the same kind as he was in the middle of not long earlier. As they come across the man with his intestines showing, Richard becomes glad that he's wearing armour now since whoever did this is decidedly better armed than a dinner knife.

As the medic starts to stabilise the mangled mess he yells something about blood, so Richard puts a call through to the medical centre in B level for a few litres of O-neg. Before confirmation comes back the sounds of brawling inside the room attract his attention and he quickly snaps the safety on his rifle to off, checks the burst setting and enters, ready to do... well whatever seems like the best idea once he's inside.

DM #4 – Prelude to Insanity

Note: Due to my recent news, I’m going to jump you ahead and take over your characters for this DM.
  • Squad #1 – Running through the base to your destination, your squad runs into Squad #4, namely Slick and Mrmao. They appear to be checking themselves over, with the shattered remains of a security bot in front of them. Exchanging information, they reveal that the security bot had been reprogrammed to defend the entrance to the older sections from any Marines. Looking at the corpse nearby, you see that it was capable of using lethal force. The one Marine, Mrmao, digging through the guts of the sentry bot, finds that it was getting orders from an old communications bunker. Combined you continue further on, entering the regions of Alpha sector that are rarely used. There are a few civilians scattered about, doing various oddball tasks, and any that you try to talk to mutter and turn away, generally being rue civilians. At least, thanks to your PDA maps, you are able to travel to the communications bunker. The door is unlock, and you see the outline of light from within. Entering at the ready, you see a scientist, clad in the stereotypical white lab coat, standing in front of the main control panel, running off a portable power generator. Turning, he swears and turns back to the console.

    “Listen Marines, if you value your lives, and the lives of everyone else here, along your souls, stay still, let me finish. I have to get this warning out, the Director has gone to far, he MUST be…… oh no.”

    *Several panels start blinking, streaming data flying so fast that you are not unable to track it. The scientist keeps typing in commands as alarms start going off.*

    “Listen, things are about to go bad here, you MUST warn Earth, warn them that…”

    *Blackness*
    • Location: Section A4
    • Orders: Patrol Sections A3-A5 – New Objective: Hunt for missing scientist.
    • Personal:

  • Squad #2 – As Dunin Hemm throws the chair, the…. Thing inside the room casually swips at it with the arm holding the power crowbar, sending the chair flying back at Dunin Hemm. Ducking under it, Dunin Hemm rolls to the side as Hewitt comes charging forward in a power-armored assisted run, then leaps up and over the table, tackling the Janitor. That would normally be the end of it, for the heavy combat armor is so heavy that it takes at least 2 men to lift it. Hewitt is surprised as the Janitor, still spitting out gibberish, lifts him up, and tosses him to the side casually. Landing hard, Hewitt looks at the janitor as it aims the pistol at him. Suddenly the sound of gunfire fills the room, and several red explosions decorate the Janitor’s torso. Standing at the entrance is Richard, seeing the Janitor about to kill the Marine, still tracking the Janitor. Despite the bleeding wounds, the Janitor roars and rushes Richard, who fires again, another three burst shot at the Janitor’s heart. Still approaching, the Janitor raises his power crowbar and Richard fires another three-shot burst, this one taking off the janitor’s head. Wavering for a second, the Janitor then falls down, limp. As everyone collects themselves……

    • Personal:

      • Dunin Hemm – In Good Health
      • Private Smith – In Good Health
      • Private Bine – In Good Health
  • Squad #3 – As Fluffie stands there, his chaingun whirls in preparation to fire, the dockworkers scatter, leaving the one with the bleeding eyes standing on his own. Meanwhile, Heiro and No Dachi equip themselves with their gear Seeing Fluffie, the dockworker screams out something and rushes, moving insanely fast. Instinctively, Fluffie squeezes the trigger completely, firing a burst of fire. The left leg of the dockworker leaves its body in a shower of blood and gore and it falls. Yet, unlike most people who just had a leg removed from their body, it did not scream, but crawled towards Fluffie. Heiro sprints forward, power crowbar at the ready, and swings violently down, connecting with the sound of crunching bone, yet the dockworker picks itself up and backhands Heiro, sending him flying several feet back. Firing again, Fluffie targets the fire this time into the torso of the dockworker. Blood red explosions decorate it’s back and it twitches on the ground, the ruins of it’s spine visible through the wounds. Yet the head looks at Fluffie and snarls, and tries to keep moving towards him, and……

    *Blackness*
    • Location: Section A1 – Entrance to Mars Base
    • Orders: Escort No Dachi on a tour of Alpha sections – Subdue Dockworker inflicted with Mars Sickness.
    • Personal:
      • Fluffie – Sore and Stiff from working out – Very Smelly
      • No Dachi – In Good Health – Somewhat Lost
      • Heiro – In Good Health – Somewhat Lost
  • Squad #4 – Seeing that the security bot survived the grenade, both of you turn and fire at it. This time, the fire actually does damage, and the security bot stutters, it’s gun tracking you, then fails in a shower of sparks and shuts down. Standing up, Mrmao walks on over to it, and pokes it. No reaction, so he opens up it’s primary data port to his PDA and starts checking it over. You see that it’s AI was wiped, replaced with a simple program for it to follow orders given to it from a remote terminal, apparently one that was located in a abandoned communications bunker. As you process this, Squad #1 appears, and you share the information you gathered. Combining your squads you continue further on, entering the regions of Alpha sector that are rarely used. There are a few civilians scattered about, doing various oddball tasks, and any that you try to talk to mutter and turn away, generally being rue civilians.     • Orders: Find malfunctioning Security Bot and either repair it or disable it.
    • Personal:

      • Slick – Minor bullet graze to left leg, bruising of area – Ringing Ears
  • Squad #5 – Pulling yourself into the junction, you work your way into what appears to be a primary junction for the data and power lines. It is in these places that repairs can be made to repeaters and repair technicians are directly able to access the grid. There is already a civilian in here, a female no less, working in front of a computer interface, most of it taken apart. Looking at you, she sighs.

    “Marine, I’m ordering you to be quiet. We are in grave danger here right now. Myself, and a few other scientists are trying to prevent what is about to happen, but we are failing. They called you here to help me make repairs from the recent overload quicker, but the truth is I caused that overload to stall, but they managed to bypass the damage. Right now, we are trying to…. Oh no.”

    *While far away, you see on her PDA rapid amounts of information passing on its screen. She looks at you with terror, then focuses on your nametag, and types in something.*

    “Please….. please…… thank god, you should be okay. Listen to me, WARN EARTH! The Director, he’s insane, he’s going to……”

    *Blackness*
    • Location: Section B4
    • Orders: Assist in restoring power
    • Personal:
      • Flapjack – In Good Health
      • BlackGuard Marine #1 – In Good Health
      • Civilian Supervisor – In Good Health
  • Squad #6 – Reaching the section, Disruptor drops to his knees in front of the wounded man, and starts treating him. The gunshot wound is a simple pressure seal to stop the bleeding. Plugging in a portal blood filtering unit, to make the remaining blood more efficient, Disruptor pulls out the injector of bio-foam. Bio-foam, a inert protein designed to be injected into wounds to stop bleeding and aid in healing, can keep even a badly wounded person alive. Injecting the gut wound with it, Disruptor looks up to see the Heavy Marine about to be killed. Richard by the point, already having aimed at the Janitor, opens fire in defense of Hewitt. The first volley tears into the torso of the Janitor, which would normally incapacitate a man. Instead, the Janitor looks at Richard and approaches him. Firing again, it takes multiple salvo’s before the Janitor falls, minus a head, when suddenly……

    *Blackness*

    • Orders: Attend to the report of wounded via gunshots in Section A2

DM #5 – INCOMING!

Note: Please note, your squads have been changed.

ALL: All over the base, the lights fail once again. This time, an alarm starts going off, the alarm of overloading reactors. The base computer starts speaking in a dull monotone voice in stark contrast to the alarms.

“Warning! Primary Reactor #1 Overloading. Primary Reactor #2 Overloading. Report to evacuation stations. Warning!”

Repeating itself over and over, it drowns out the sound of the ventilation system failing, doors sealing or unsealing, computer terminals overloading and exploding. Then lights start appearing, dark orange lights with no obvious source, linking together in intercrossing lines, race through the base. The ground starts to shudder, throwing almost everyone to their knees as equipment falls. Power Conduits exploding, setting ablaze fires in all section, and then, the sound. A loud screaming sound echo’s throughout the base, downing out even the alarms. Then…… silence. Slowly, as ears adapt, noises can be heard, screams, gunfire, more screams, and liquid gushing sounds. The communication channels then fill up with voices, gunfire, screams, orders and counter-orders, the sounds of chaos.
  • Squad #1 – Blinking your eyes, you all push yourselves up and look around as you hear the comm. channels go insane. The communications relay showers you all with sparks, illuminating the corpse of the scientist, shrapnel decorating his chest. Then, his eyes blink and he sits up rapidly. Turning, you all see the scientists face, drawn in and gaunt looking. His eyes are completely white with blood streaming from them, and their skin is a dark grey, ashen color, looking to be very dry and cracking in places. It starts muttering something, and you hear echoes. Turning, you see the two Marines that came with you, looking back from the ground, their eyes white with blood streaming from them, looking as if they were dead for several months. Snarling, the two Marines aim their weapons at Spritely Zombie and Mrmao, one of them holding a shotgun, the other a Machine Gun, while the scientist walks forward, and prepares to swing at AcidK.

  • Squad #2 – Blinking your eyes, your all push yourselves back up, with the communication channels going insane with all the orders going on. The first thing you see if the corpse of the janitor, still dead apparently. The second thing you all see are the remaining 3 civilians. They are standing in a close huddle, but as you stand up, they turn. Their faces are tight and gaunt, as if they were left out dead in the sun. Their eyes, completely white with blood streaming from them. Their skin, a dark grey, appears to be dry and cracked in places. Then, outside the conference room, the civilian with the wounds, sits right up and grabs Disruptor by the throat, and throws him violently to the side. As if that was a signal, the other 3 civilians rush towards Dunin Hemm and Hewitt, moving much faster than normal humans could, their arms outstretched as if they were to strike.

  • Squad #3 – As you all push yourselves up, first of all Fluffie sees the dockworker he fired up, still crawling at him. Stepping back, you hear noises coming from the group of dockworkers. They all turn to look at you, their eyes completely white, dripping with blood. Their skin has taken a dry, ashen color and appears to be cracking and drawn tight against their faces. Further up ahead, a scream is heard, and Inspectre comes running forward, one of the former passengers on the transport rushes towards you.

    “Those…… the guards……. They are……”

    *As if Inspectre’s voice was a signal, the former dockworkers charge you, their arms outstretched as if to strike, closing the distance between them and you with superhuman speed.*

  • Squad #5 – Opening your eyes and pushing yourself up, you see the corpse of the civilian you came in here to help at the entrance to the chamber. It appears that the power terminal exploded in her face, throwing her to the far side of the chamber, leaving her face burnt and ashen, her eyes white and bleeding. Then she moves, jerking up with unnatural quickness. Turning to face you, she crawls towards you, and swings. You manages to back away, and the swing misses, but strikes the side of the chamber, denting a computer data line shell, made out of titanium. She the pulls her arm back and prepares to swing again, blocking the exit from the chamber.

Richard turns at the sounds coming from outside just in time to see the medic hit the floor, hurled by the civilian who minutes before had been at death's doorway. Assuming the other two marines can cope with the situation in the room behind him, Richard takes aim at the grievously wounded man as he pulls himself up from the floor, trailing a tangle of leads from the med-kit. His thumb flicks the switch down a notch into single fire as the sights line up on the back of the figure’s head.

“You ungrateful bastard.”

The trigger pressure increases by a fraction as he starts to speak, a single shot flashes through the man’s head, removing the face from the other side along with a significant chunk of brain. As the body starts to fold forwards, Richard begins to turn back into the room to help out.
